Here's a look at players who have officially signed to play for the Vols:

MICAH ABERNATHY
Basics: 6-1, 185, DB
School: Greater Atlanta Christian School (Norcross, Ga.)
Key stat: Led team in rushing yards.
Also considered: Auburn.
Impact: One of the best athletes in this year's class. Probably projects best at
cornerback. He can help that young group.
Quote of note: "Versatile football player who had offers to play on both sides of the
ball. Has the ability to play corner, safety or running back." Chad Simmons,
Scout.com national recruiting analyst
Twitter: @Mabernathy04
VENZELL BOULWARE
Basics: 6-4, 290, OL
School: Creekside High School (Fairburn, Ga.)
Key stat: N/A
Also considered: Ohio State.
Impact: Tennessee needs all the help up front it can get, and Boulware certainly
provides a boost. A strong candidate to play early as Butch Jones attempts to build
an offensive line from scratch, basically.
Quote of note: "Was a strong tackle for a championship team in high school, but he
will move to guard at Tennessee. Loves to mix it up physically and put defenders on
their backs." Simmons
Twitter: @Venzell55
ANDREW BUTCHER
Basics: 6-2, 245, DE
School: Alpharetta High School (Alpharetta, Ga.)
Key stat: 18 sacks as senior.
Also considered: Alabama, Arkansas.
Impact: Could fly under the radar behind other, more hyped line signees. Still,
playing time won't come easy, or perhaps at all, behind Derek Barnett this year.

Quote of note: "Strong and powerful end who loves to turn the corner and sack the
quarterback. Not ideal length, but a motor that never stops." Simmons
Twitter: @ButcherAndrew1
QUINTEN DORMADY
Basics: 6-4, 200, QB
School: Boerne High School (Boerne, Texas)
Key stat: 300-plus yards in four games last year.
Also considered: Alabama, Indiana, Kentucky, Vanderbilt.
Impact: Contributes to the embarrassment of riches at the quarterback position that
Tennessee's new offensive coordinator will stumble into. Built like former Vols
quarterback Justin Worley but moves better.
Quote of note: "More of a pocket passer with the ability to make the needed throws.
Size is there, sees the field well and throws a very catchable ball." Simmons
Twitter: @qdormady
STEPHEN GRIFFIN
Basics: 6-2, 185, DB
School: South Mecklenburg High School (Charlotte, N.C.)
Key stat: Three interceptions in 2014.
Also considered: UNC, Clemson, Michigan.
Impact: Lone defensive back among early enrollees should be able to provide depth
to a secondary that was torched often last season.
Quote of note: "Love the length and football IQ of Griffin. Really knows the game
and has great range at safety." Simmons
Twitter: @Cover9_
CHANCE HALL
Basics: 6-5, 315, OL
School: Northside High School (Roanoke, Va.)
Key stat: Scored 20 a game playing hoops.
Also considered: Vanderbilt.
Impact: Torn Achilles tendon caused him to miss entire senior season, so he's a bit
behind the eight ball. Enrolling early should help with that.
Quote of note: "Good frame with the ability to add good weight. Has played a lot on
both sides of the ball, but offensive tackle is likely his home." Simmons

Twitter: @Chance_A_Hall
JAUAN JENNINGS
Basics: 6-4, 200, QB
School: Blackman (Murfreesboro)
Key stat: 2,155 passing yards in 2014.
Also considered: Alabama, Auburn.
Impact: Should benefit from being in a system that allowed Josh Dobbs to thrive in
second half of 2014 season. Has said he doesn't want to play anywhere but
quarterback.
Quote of note: "Where will he play? Jennings can do so many things well. If
quarterback doesn't work out, wide receiver and safety are possibilities. A versatile
athlete." Simmons
Twitter: None
JACK JONES
Basics: 6-5, 300, OL
School: Oakland (Murfreesboro)
Key stat: 125 pancake blocks in 2014.
Also considered: Alabama, Auburn, Georgia.
Impact: Gives an instant boost to much-maligned Vols offensive line. Early
enrollment should allow him to compete for playing time right away.
Quote of note: "Jones plays light on his feet and could project as a tackle or guard.
Good at getting to the second level. He loves to finish blocks." Simmons
Twitter: @jackjoneshii
SHERIRON JONES
Basics: 6-2, 190, QB
School: Rancho Verde High School (Moreno Valley, Calif.)
Key stat: N/A
Also considered: Florida, Ole Miss, Arizona.
Impact: It'll be an uphill climb for Jones, since Jauan Jennings and Quinten Dormady
are both already on campus. Not to mention, the quarterback job already belongs to
a dual-threat option Josh Dobbs.
Quote of note: "Quarterback who can throw and run. A natural leader on and off the
field. Shows he can make things happen when the play breaks down." Simmons

Twitter: @gullyboyjonezy
ALVIN KAMARA
Basics: 5-11, 195, RB
School: Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College; Alabama (redshirt season in 2013);
Norcross High School (Norcross, Ga.)
Key stat: 134.6 rushing yards per game last year.
Also considered: Georgia.
Impact: Likely will be able to contribute to suddenly crowded Tennessee backfield.
Could be a potent one-two punch along with Beech's Jalen Hurd. Dealt with
disciplinary issues at Alabama but has been given a fresh start in Knoxville.
Quote of note: "A star with the ball in his hands. Really plays under control and has
great vision. Speed and hands are strengths, too." Simmons
Twitter: @A_kamara6
JOHN KELLY
Basics: 5-10, 200, RB
School: Oak Park High School (Oak Park, Mich.)
Key stat: 1,321 rushing yards senior year.
Also considered: Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota.
Impact: Impressive work ethic should help Kelly stay positive even as he watches
most carries go to Jalen Hurd and Alvin Kamara.
Quote of note: "An athlete who could play on either side of the ball. As a running
back, he flashes good balance and burst." Simmons
Twitter: @D1JohnKelly
DARRIN KIRKLAND JR.
Basics: 6-2, 235, LB
School: Lawrence Central High School (Indianapolis)
Key stat: 121 tackles, three picks in 2014.
Also considered: Michigan, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Texas.
Impact: Bolsters an already strong outside linebacking corps. Has two potential
mentors in Curt Maggitt and Jalen Reeves-Maybin.
Quote of note: "Plays his keys well and tends to slow things down and play under
control. An instinctive linebacker who plays downhill." Simmons
Twitter: @KIRK_Era

RILEY LOVINGOOD
Basics: 6-1, 240, LS
School: Beech (Hendersonville)
Key stat: N/A.
Also considered: Auburn, Vanderbilt.
Impact: Blocked for Tennessee star Jalen Hurd at Beech. Matt Giampapa will
probably handle long snapping duties once again in 2015.
Quote of note: "It's getting to be a growing trend in major college football,"
Lovingood said of his craft to The Tennessean last year. "Special teams decides
games, and one bad late-game snap can cost you. The kick can't go up if the punter
can't get the snap."
Twitter: @rileylovingood
JUSTIN MARTIN
Basics: 6-2, 190, DB
School: Northeastern Oklahoma A&M; Overton (Nashville)
Key stat: 26 touchdowns senior year at Overton.
Also considered: Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Texas A&M.
Impact: Caught the eye of big-time schools during junior college stint. More likely
than Abernathy to play right away.
Quote of note: "Cornerback with size that cannot be taught. Smart player with the
ability to track the ball and make a play on it." Simmons
Twitter: @Elite_made
KAHLIL MCKENZIE
Basics: 6-3, 350, DT
School: Clayton Valley Charter High School (Concord, Calif.)
Key stat: 74 tackles, 21 sacks in 2013
Also considered: Arizona.
Impact: The prize of Tennessee's most prized positional group in this year's class.
Heavy expectations on his broad shoulders. Starting job probably his to lose.
Quote of note: "What can you say about the No. 1 player in the country? Has all the
tools you look for in a player you want to build a defense around. He is that
centerpiece." Simmons
Twitter: @KM1_Era

DARRELL MILLER
Basics: 5-10, 170, DB
School: Cedar Hill High School (Cedar Hill, Texas)
Key stat: Two interceptions in 2014.
Also considered: Boise State.
Impact: Out of the three cornerbacks in this year's class, Miller might be last in
terms of game readiness.
Quote of note: "An aggressive corner who loves to jump routes, make plays on the
ball and help his team get the ball back. Plays best when lined up in press
coverage." Simmons
Twitter: @_dmill9
KYLE OLIVER
Basics: 6-5, 230, TE
School: Oakland (Murfreesboro)
Key stat: 31 catches for 505 yards in 2013
Also considered: Kentucky, Ole Miss.
Impact: After gaining weight before senior year, Oliver is likely an H-back in Butch
Jones' system.
Quote of note: "A former wide receiver who starred as a tight end as a senior. He is
an athletic, tough end who can go vertical and create mismatches." Simmons
Twitter: @_KyleTheSmile_
KYLE PHILLIPS
Basics: 6-4, 250, DE
School: Hillsboro (Nashville)
Key stat: 13 sacks in 2014.
Also considered: Ole Miss, LSU.
Impact: Has the chance to follow in the footsteps of Derek Barnett, another
Nashville native and defensive end who starred in his freshman year for Tennessee
in 2014. Should reap huge benefits from enrolling early.
Quote of note: "Can be dominant up front with his combination of size, strength and
quickness. Can be a three-down defensive lineman." Simmons
Twitter: @K5_Phillips
QUAY PICOU

Basics: 6-3, 285, DT

School: Buford High School (Buford, Ga.)
Key stat: 61 tackles, three sacks as senior.
Also considered: Cincinnati, University of Miami, Ohio State, Texas A&M.
Impact: Is strong enough to be mentioned in the same breath as fellow UT
commitments Kyle Phillips, Kahlil McKenzie and Shy Tuttle. Not quite on their level
yet, but he'd be the trophy of many schools' defensive line classes.
Quote of note: "Playing with power is what Picou does. Flashes the ability to play
with leverage, and when he fires out low, he has success." Simmons
Twitter: @qpicou9
DREW RICHMOND
Basics: 6-5, 310, OL
School: Memphis University School (Memphis, Tenn.)
Key stat: N/A
Also considered: Ole Miss, Alabama.
Impact: Richmond is a huge offensive lineman who could be just what Tennessee
needs up front this year. What a huge flip for Butch Jones and staff.
Quote of note: "Richmond is a tackle who will have a chance to play early on the
next level. He is a strong tackle, one who may be best suited for right tackle, and
one who is already there when talking size. He is very balanced, he flashes nice
coordination for a player of his stature and he should have a bright future."
Simmons
Twitter: @TheDream_75
QUART'E SAPP
Basics: 6-1, 200, LB
School: Milton High School (Alpharetta, Ga.)
Key stat: 126 tackles in 2014.
Also considered: University of Miami, Michigan State, Missouri.
Impact: Needs to put on some weight. A possible redshirt candidate this year.
Quote of note: "Athletic outside linebacker. On the lean side. Can rush the
quarterback or drop into coverage." Simmons
Twitter: @Dedicated_2Work
AUSTIN SMITH

Basics: 6-3, 235, LB

School: Buford High School (Buford, Ga.)
Key stat: Led Buford in tackles for loss.
Also considered: Georgia, LSU.
Impact: Hard-hitting Smith will also benefit from learning under Reeves-Maybin and
Maggitt. Has said he doesn't want to redshirt.
Quote of note: "A linebacker who continues to improve. Size like an outside
linebacker, could play inside, too. Smart player." Simmons
Twitter: @AustinZSmith24
ZACH STEWART
Basics: 6-4, 295, OL
School: Coalfield School (Harriman, Tenn.)
Key stat: 118 tackles, 14 sacks in 2014.
Also considered: No other offers.
Impact: Small-town star represents another step toward giving Tennessee depth on
its offensive line again. Worth noting that Stewart essentially shut down his
recruitment after the Vols offered.
Quote of note: "Has played defensive end and offensive tackle in high school but
could be best at guard. Right tackle is possible, too. Was a dominant high-school
offensive lineman." Simmons
Twitter: @zstew55
DARRELL TAYLOR
Basics: 6-4, 230, DE
School: Hopewell High School (Hopewell, Va.)
Key stat: Nine sacks in 2013.
Also considered: Florida, Virginia Tech.
Impact: Taylor will be behind both Phillips and Butcher because of their statuses as
early enrollees. Could factor into defensive line rotation depending on how deep
they choose to go.
Quote of note: "A rush end who loves to get after the quarterback. Needs to get
better at playing the run. He has real upside." Simmons
Twitter: @_taylorrrrr5
TOMMY TOWNSEND

Basics: 6-1, 165, P

School: Boone High School (Orlando, Fla.)
Key stat: U.S. Army All-American
Also considered: Baylor, Colorado.
Impact: Vols need to replace Matt Darr, who starred at Punter. Townsend also played
defensive back in high school. His brother, Johnny, punts for Florida.
Quote of note: "Tommy isn't just a great punter," Andy Johnson, his high-school
coach, told Bay News 9 in Tampa, Fla. "He's a great football player."
Twitter: @tommy_townsend
SHY TUTTLE
Basics: 6-3, 315, DT
School: North Davidson High School (Lexington, N.C.)
Key stat: 315 tackles in high-school career.
Also considered: UNC, North Carolina State, Clemson.
Impact: Will help make up for loss of Jordan Williams on the interior defensive line.
Important part of Tennessee's touted class of defensive linemen.
Quote of note: "Big body in the middle of the defensive line. A little quicker and
more mobile than some may think. Not just a space-eater but an interior defensive
lineman who can get up the field." Simmons
Twitter: @KingTut_90
PRESTON WILLIAMS
Basics: 6-4, 190, WR
School: Lovejoy High School (Hampton, Ga.)
Key stat: 56 catches for 1,402 yards in 2013.
Also considered: Auburn.
Impact: It's just Tennessee's luck that a top wide receiver coming in would be
battling a major recovery from surgery. The Vols' receivers were decimated by injury
last year. As soon as Williams is healthy, he can help.
Quote of note: "Unlimited potential. Went down with an ACL injury late in 2014, but
when he comes back, he could be one of the best. Has many of the traits you look
for in a No. 1 wideout. High points the ball, sticky hands and the ability to stretch
the field." Simmons
