QUESTION # 1 INCREASE TO THE PGSS MEMBERSHIP FEE
Do you agree to increase the PGSS Regular Membership fee from $31.82 per Fall and Winter semester to
$33.33 per Fall and Winter semester starting Fall 2014, with adjustments for CPI to be applied annually
thereafter?
- Does not apply during the summer

QUESTION # 2 - INCREASE IN FEE FOR THE PGSS GRANTS PROGRAM
Do you agree to increase the PGSS Grants Program fee from $1.26 per Fall and Winter semester to $2.07
per Fall and Winter payable by all PGSS members, effective Fall 2014?

- This fee is obligatory
QUESTION # 3 PGSS NEEDS BASED BURSARY FUND
Do you agree to reduce the current $4.04 fee per Fall and Winter semester to $1.01 fee per Fall and
Winter semester, payable by each PGSS member (except for postdoctoral students) , which will be added
to grow a new PGSS Needs Based Bursary Endowment Fund, effective Fall 2014?

QUESTION # 4 UAPPLY
Do you agree to increase the graduate application fee for graduate studies admission to McGill (Uapply)
from $102.60 to $120 for the next 5 years beginning June 2014, payable by all new applicants regardless
of residency status?
- May be subject to inflation.
- This fee would be levied on applicants to McGills graduate programmes
- This fee is obligatory for applicants, subject to any special provisions

QUESTION # 5 ATHLETIC CENTRE BUILDING FUND


Do you agree that, starting September 2014, a non-opt-outable fee of $3 (three dollars) per semester be
charged to every full time and part time PGSS member enrolled as a PhD or Masters student up to, and
including the Winter 2019 semester to be contributed to the McGill Athletics Building Improvement
Fund, understanding this amount will go to improving Athletics Facilities at both campuses.
The fund will first contribute to a turf improvement project on the Rutherford Park (Reservoir Field),
which is seeking approvals, in collaboration with Ville Marie. The fund will then contribute towards
improvements to Recreation.

QUESTION # 6 MIDNIGHT KITCHEN FUND
Do you support a fee levy of $0.50/semester to support the Midnight Kitchen, payable and fully opt
outable on Minerva by members of PGSS? The levy would run from the Fall Semester of 2014 until the
Winter Semester of 2016 (inclusive), at which point it would be brought back to the membership for
renewal.

QUESTION # 7 PGSS HEALTH AND DENTAL PLAN
Do you agree that the PGSS Health and Dental Plan fee be renewed for 3 years, beginning September
2014 and ending August 2017, at an annually adjusted rate of no more than $265.80 for the health
insurance component of the plan and no more than $194.00 for the dental insurance component of the
plan?***
Question footnotes:
1 The health insurance component of the PGSS Health and Dental Insurance Plan (HDIP) is compulsory
for all Canadian resident PGSS members. The dental insurance component of the plan is compulsory for
all PGSS members.
2 Any PGSS member required to participate in the HDIP may withdraw from either of its components by
making an application to withdraw and furnishing the required documents proving equivalent extended
coverage to the HDIP's broker by using its online application system.
3 The PGSS Health and Dental Plan premiums will be negotiated on a yearly basis, without exceeded the
amount approved in this question, with the objective being to receive the best price while maintaining the
current level of service. The total charge for the Health and Dental portions of the Plan will be advertised
to PGSS members by April for the following academic year.
- The aforementioned maximums are absolute price ceilings. The plan, for the three year
duration, is capped at 265.80 and 194.00.
- This fee may be subject to inflation.
- This fee is charged in parts based on the autumn and winter semesters
- This fee is not obligatory. Members may choose to opt out of it, subject to enrollment
periods, should they be able to demonstrate having alternative healthcare (dental, extended)
coverage.
