Planet Fashion; a branded retail initiative of Madura Fashion & Lifestyle Limited, part
of Aditya Birla Group of Companies. This apparel retail giant has over 200 stores across 97
cities and caters millions of discerning customers who seeks a choice of the best brands. I
took up this job during my summer break. Idea was to understand the know-hows of real
business and commercial environment. My job duties included:
Ensure that each customer is acknowledged and is provided outstanding service which
meets the standard of the stores and is in line with corporate and managements view
towards a successful venture.
Carrying and maintaining sound product knowledge was an essential part of the job role. It
not only assisted in gaining consumer confidence but also enhanced my own confidence
level of dealing with them and their requirements.
Co-ordinating with other team members and maintaining awareness of all promotions and
advertisement.
Assist in merchandise display maintenance, replenishing merchandise and monitoring floor
stock.
Inventory management was equally essential and have participated in month end inventory
and stock checks.
Assisting in price checks and price changes within the department.
Dealing with cash management, cheques and credit card payments and making sure that
day end takings tally with the register.
Dealing with after sales queries effectively and courteously. Promoting products, vouchers,
offer and promotions was inevitable part of the job role.
Learning from the management other aspect of business like its strengths, weakness,
threats from competitors and opportunities to explore.
