Wednesday, April 9, that the
mullahs’ president had dismissed the
Economy and Finance Minister Davoud
Danesh Jaafari and Interior Minister Mostafa
Pour Mohammadi.
“The president told me that he has
personally spoken to two of his colleagues
in the cabinet and asked them to move to
another position,” the official IRNA news
agency quoted Elham as saying.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of
the Iranian Resistance, described purging of
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s two key cabinet
members as an indication of escalating
trend in the mullahs’ regime faltering state
following last month’s sham parliamentary
elections.

PMOI families
arrested, tortured
in Iran
I
n recent months, there have been widespread
arrests of families of PMOI members who
had visited their relatives in Ashraf City,
home to thousands of members of PMOI in
northeast Baghdad, Iraq, a PMOI statement said
on April 1, 2008.
The PMOI has called on competent
international bodies, the UN Secretary General
and the UN High Commissioner for Human
Rights to take immediate measures to save the
lives of families of the PMOI members in Iran.
The PMOI statement detailing some of the
accounts said: “Mrs. Zahra Assadpour, 50, and
her daughter Fatemeh, 22, were picked up by
Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS)
agents at Karaj’s Sassan Square on February 5,
2008. She was kept in Evin prison under the most
inhuman conditions in the cold winter without

ahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian
regime’s president, announced on
April 8 the start of the installation
of 6,000 new centrifuges. “Today the process of
installing 6,000 advanced centrifuges started,” the
state-run news agency ISNA, radio and television
quoted Ahmadinejad as saying at Natanz site.
Diplomats in Vienna said earlier that Iranian
regime was installing advanced enrichment
centrifuges in the underground Natanz
installation, accelerating activities that could give
Iran the means to produce atom bombs in the
future if it chose to.
Ahmadinejad’s remarks are the latest in
defiance of implementation of the UN Security
Council resolutions calling for suspension of
activities that could be used to provide fuel for
nuclear bomb.

extent, but after all we are a nuclear state and we
should make use of all our nuclear potentials.”

She said that the sacking of two ministers is a reflection of
mullahs’ disastrous failure in the elections and the unprecedented
boycott by Iranians across the country.
Prior to the election, Mostafa Poor-Mohammadi, former
Interior Minister, anticipated that 35 million would turnout for the
election. However, on the election day he backed off from his earlier
prediction and announced that only 25 million participated. Then
again, Poor-Mohammadi changed his mind when a vote count of
individual cities and provinces were posted. Despite all vote riggings
and major flaws as well as exaggerated figures given by the officials,
finally the original figure for voters diminished to 22.8 million.
Exposing the regime’s disastrous failure in the election sham,
Mostafa Tajzadeh, former interior minister, said that the faction
dominating mullahs’ parliament has only the support of 13 percent
of the eligible voters. By referring to figures officially released, he
said, “A minority of 13 percent are dominating the house of nation
(parliament). It in fact means that this minority is dominating the
whole state bodies… This is a gross political injustice where 87
percent of people have almost no role in the running of the country.”
Mrs. Rajavi added that the mullahs’ regime had planed for a
ruthless elimination of all rival factions from the Majlis (parliament)
to pave the way for a “non-stop” pursuit of nuclear bomb as well as
exporting fundamentalism and terrorism. To that end, there would
be more inevitable resignations and sacking to come. She stressed
that Ahmadinejad had no other choice but to speak about a “major
purge.”
On Wednesday, simultaneous with the recent purges of
ministers, Ahmadinejad announced, “We must prepare ourselves for
a major purge and a principle overhaul in route to reconstruction [of
the country]. I witnessed over the first week following the [Iranian
New Year] holidays, some resonant the words of enemies. Even
before the government announces its plans they have already begun
rejecting them.” He was speaking in a meeting in the northern city
of Mashhad.
B rig. Gen. Esmail Ahmadi-Moqadam chief of the State Security Forces
(SSF) announced new suppressive “plans” in the year ahead, the state
television reported on Monday, April 7.
He stressed on the need for more undercover police tactics to control
the public and said, “It is not possible in a society that has the habit of
‘seeing is believing’ to change that attitude over night. It takes time to move
from a completely open police presence to undercover policing. We will
do it step by step. However, we move in the direction of more undercover
surveillance... We have to first develop the framework for under cover
policing such as surveillance cameras, GPS’s, and other techniques.”
The mullahs’ inhuman regime has realized that measures such as
street beatings and arrests of women and youths are futile and ineffective
in combating social unrests. Therefore, it has now turned to under cover
surveillance to control the volatile state in Iran.
5,000 workers resume strike in the
southern city of Shoosh
5 ,000 workers stopped work at the Sugar Cane Factory in the southern
city of Shoosh on Tuesday, April 9. The workers went on strike when
their agreement with the management over the pay dispute last February
was not honored. All employees participated in the recent protest including
workers in production and cane-cutting sections.
Workers in this factory went on strike over their unpaid salaries in
October of 2007 and then again in February and March.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, lauded
the striking workers and called for an all out support to the striking
workers.
She said that at a time when Iranian labor force is suffering from
poverty, inflation, unemployment and high prices, the country’s vast
revenues are spent on suppression at home and export of terrorism abroad.

Nowrouz celebrated in
Auvers-sur-Oise
The Iranian New Year was celebrated in Auvers-
sur-Oise, Residence of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi,
President-elect of the Iranian Resistance on
March 30 with French dignitaries and local
residents. They wished Mrs. Rajavi a year full
of success and an end to the rule of mullahs in
Iran. Three mayors from Val d’Oise province
and a number of city council members from the
province and human rights activists were among
dignitaries and local officials in the event.

took part in a Persian New Year celebration held at

of Iranian communities in Britain attended the

Lord Corbett of Castle Vale, Chair of
the parliamentary committee, welcomed the
honorable participants to the event and expressed
his best wishes to the people of Iran and the

PMOI and do everything in their power to help

its great victories over the last year and hoped
for greater victories and the establishment of
democracy in Iran in the year ahead.
Lord Corbett thanked the speakers for their
kind messages and stressed that the Resistance
enjoys the support of the majority of MPs and more
than half of the active members of the House of
Lords. He reiterated that the British Parliamentary
Committee for Iran freedom has currently more
than 100 active members. He gave special thanks
to 35 members of both Houses of Parliament
who appealed to the courts for the removal of the
PMOI from the terrorist list which had led to the
historic ruling which described the proscription
of the PMOI as “perverse.” He said that the
deproscription of the PMOI would send a strong
message to millions of Iranians who seek change
in their country. They would see that we are with
them while they are struggling for freedom against
a dictatorship which claims to be Islamic, Lord
Corbett said. He described the judicial campaign
to deproscribe the PMOI as very important at this
juncture, adding that it must win.
