PrizeforScience(Chemistry):Cowinnersaretwointernationallyacclaimedscholarsofchemistry,ProfessorOmarMwannesYaghifromtheUnited
States and Professor Michael Gratzel from Switzerland. Yaghi was awarded for his seminal contributions in the field of metal organic frameworks
(MOFs). Gratzel was awarded for his foundational and practical discoveries in the development of photoelectrochemical systems for solar energy
conversion.
PrizeforIslamicstudies:Dr.AbdulAzizbinAbdulRahmanKaki,aconsultantatMadinahDevelopmentAuthorityinrecognitionforhisdistinguished
researchontheculturalheritageofAlMadinahAlMunwwarah.
PrizeforMedicine:Prof.JeffreyIvanGordonfromtheUSinrecognitionofhisseminalworkondefiningthemicrobiomesgenomicandmetabolic
roleinhumanhealth.
TheArabiclanguageandliteratureprizewaswithheldasnoneofthenomineesmetthecriterialaiddownbytheselectioncommitteefor2015.
EachprizeconsistsofahandwrittenArabiccertificatethatsummarisesthelaureateswork,acommemorative24carat,200gramgoldmedalanda
cashawardof7.5LakhSaudiRiyal.Thecowinnersinanycategorysharethemonetarygrant.

The King Faisal International Prize (KFIP) is one of the most important events of the King Faisal Foundation (KFF), a philanthropic organization
establishedin1976bythesonsanddaughtersofthelateKingFaisalbinAbdulazizincommemorationoftheirfather.TheGeneralSecretariatin1976
decidedtoinceptaninternationalprizeinthenameofKingFaisal.ThePrizestartedwiththreebranchesServicetoIslam,IslamicStudiesandArabic
LanguageandLiteraturewhichweregrantedforthefirsttimein1979.TheprizeinthefieldofMedicineandSciencewereaddedinthelistin1981and
