Introduction
This guide is intended as an aid for installing and configuring Galileo Desktop 2.0, or higher, to
function in a multi-user environment from a Citrix Server or Microsoft Terminal Server (MTS).
This guide was created in response to customer requests Citrix Server and Microsoft Terminal
Server are not supported in Galileo Desktop by Galileo International. These procedures will vary
depending on site requirements and server administration differences.
Requirements
This guide supports the installation of Galileo Desktop in a Citrix and MTS environment for
either:
Thin-client terminals.
The following hardware and networking must be installed and functioning before Galileo
Desktop is installed and configured:
Assumptions
This guide is intended to document the process for installing a Citrix server in most
environments. However, these procedures cannot duplicate the process that will be required for
every installation. This guide assumes that:
Galileo Desktop will be installed on the Citrix server. The procedures are written for
Galileo Desktop 2.0, which incorporates Focalpoint 5.0.
The drive locations will vary depending on the server environment. For this document,
the following standards apply:
3. Select Local Users and Groups, then select Users to display the user list. The following
example shows default remote user names of Remote00 through Remote14.
4. Double-click one of the user names that was installed with MetaFrame to display the
User Properties dialog for that user.
6. In Home folder, select Local path. The location of the Local Path field will vary
depending on your administration.
7. In Local Path, enter C:\USERS\<username>, where <username> is the actual user
name.
Note: You must repeat step 7 for all users that require profiles.
8. Click the Terminal Services Profile tab.
3. In the Control Panel folder, double-click the Add or Remove Programs icon to display
the Add or Remove Programs dialog box.
5. Click CD or Floppy to display the Installation Program from Floppy Disk or CD-ROM
dialog box.
Notes:
If a previous version of Galileo Desktop is installed on your workstation, this version will
be uninstalled before the Welcome window displays.
It is highly recommended that in a Citrix environment all required software is previously
installed prior to installing Galileo Desktop; therefore, there is no need to select
additional software.
12. Click Yes to accept the license agreement. The Pre-Installation Requirements dialog box
displays.
13. Confirm that all of the required tasks are completed, then select Please ensure all
applicable pre-installation tasks are completed.
14. Click Next. The first Setup Type dialog box displays.
15. Select whether the Viewpoint Itinerary window or the Focalpoint Terminal Window
displays by default at startup.
16. Click Next. The second Setup Type dialog box displays.
19. In the desired languages list on the left, select one or more language options to install.
Note: To select more than one language, press the CTRL key while selecting the
language name.
20. Click the arrow on the right to select the default language.
21. Click Next. The directory settings dialog box displays.

Optional. Click Internet to display options for installing the Web Browser. Then click
OK to return to the main installation.

23. Select Edit or Copy the default connection name. Or, create a new connection..
Note: If a previous version of Galileo Desktop was installed on your workstation, the
client ID from that version defaults to the Connections dialog box.
24. Click New. The Connection dialog box displays.
28. Choose Use Fixed Configuration Server Address and enter 57.8.81.13 in the Primary
IPCS Address and 57.8.81.113 in the Secondary IPCS Address.

29. Confirm each field to ensure that all paths are correct, especially paths to the system
directories.
30. Click OK to verify the Keyboard Mode.
31. Click OK to display the Select Features dialog box.
32. Select Relay and/or ScriptWriter Plus to include either of these Focalpoint features in
the installation.
Note: It is recommended to not allow any applications on this server, including
Focalpoint and Viewpoint utilities, to start automatically at Windows startup.
33. Click Next to display the next Setup Type dialog box.
If the client workstation is new and has not been logged on to the Citrix server, log on
from the workstation before configuring Galileo Desktop. Logging on to the server will
create a Windows directory for that user.
If the client workstation has been logged on to the Citrix server, before Galileo Desktop
was installed, the Windows directory has already been created for that user. However,
slightly different modifications are needed for the files in the window directory.

4. Right-click within the User subdirectory and select Paste, to duplicate the Machine
subdirectory.
5. Repeat the copy process for each remote user.
Modifying DAT32COM.INI
6. Open the first Machine subdirectory that you have just copied to the User subdirectory.
7. Double-click DAT32COM.INI to display the file in Notepad format.
8. The Client Identifier line should list the client identification entered during installation.
This procedure uses XXXXXX as the client identifier.

15. Copy all of the Focalpoint information from the WIN.INI. (C:\WINDOWS\WIN.INI) to
the clients WIN.INI. The information to be duplicated is shaded in the graphic above.
Continue to Step 16 when the duplication is completed. If the client was logged in to the
server after Galileo Desktop was installed, all of the Focalpoint information should
already be in the clients WIN.INI.
16. The Machinedir line displays C:\USERS\MACHINE\. Enter the individual client
identification into the path. For example, the Anon012 user name should display as
C:\USERS\ANON012\MACHINE.

17. Confirm that the paths to the Galileo Desktop directories match the paths selected during
Step 9 of Installing Galileo Desktop. In the sample graphic, C:\FP\SWDIR and
C:\FP\DATADIR display.
18. Select Save from the File menu.
19. Close the file.
20. Repeat the WIN.INI modification for each remote user.

3. In Display Name and Application Description, enter the desired name and description
for Galileo Desktop.
4. Click Next to display the Specify What to Publish dialog box.
5. Select Application.
6. In Command Line, enter the path for Viewpoint.exe, or click Browse to locate the
executable. In this example, the executable is located in:
C:\FP\SWDIR\VIEWPOINT.EXE.
The Working Directory field automatically displays as C:\FP\SWDIR.

10. Click the Session Window Size arrow, and select 800x600 or greater.
11. Modify Colors and Application Startup Settings, as desired.
12. Click Next to display the Specify Client Requirements dialog box.

13. Unless modified settings are preferred, do not modify this dialog box.
14. Click Next to display the Specify Application Limits dialog box.
15. Unless different settings for concurrent instances or the CPU priority level are desired, do
not change the default settings.
16. Click Next to display the Configure Access Control dialog box.

18. From the list of Available Servers, select the servers to be run for Galileo Desktop.
19. Click Add to move the selected servers to the Configured Servers column.
20. Click Next to display the Specify Users dialog box.

21. Click the Look in arrow to select the desired domain or server.
22. Select the users for that domain or server, and click Add to display the users in the
Configured Accounts list. These users now have permission to access Galileo Desktop.
23. Repeat Steps 2122, as necessary, for all servers or domains associated with Galileo
Desktop.
24. Click Next to display the Specify File Type Associations dialog box.

If the connection was not successful, check the Client Identifier (GTID) and network
connections from the Galileo Desktop session configuration.

Notes:
These identifiers and addresses are examples, and will vary according to the
system.
The End Item commands are only allowed if Galileo Mapped Keyboard was
selected during the configuration of the Galileo Desktop.
