The rig
Our rig is equipped with a 30 ton main winch and
two 5 tons tuggers. This allows us to re-complete
the 390 meter well and this makes it possible to
run completions for pre-test etc. before installation
offshore.
Our wells can also be used for testing and
development of downhole tools such as plugs,
logging tools, wireline tools, work over units,
coiled tubing, tractors and tractor applications.
The rig can skid to both wells. Internet connection
is available in the control room. Work lights allow
24 hrs operations.
Executed tests in the rig:
Stack-up test. Pre-running completion BHA
before installed offshore.
Packer test. Set and pressure test packer
in 13 3/8 ran on 9 5/8.
Sidepocket test. Install/retrieve gas lift valve
in 60 deg angle with varying orientation.
Looging tool test. Test of prototype logging tool.
Wireline pressure control equipment test.
Qualification test after modification.
Wireline pressure control equipment test.
Test of new deployment equipment.
Tractor application tests. Several pre-tests of
tractor applications to confirm correct set up.

The wells
The 390 meter well can be re-completed on
clients request. Circulation is possible and
pressure up to 345 bar.
The 40 meter well is completed with a 15 ID
casing. This can be used for testing of pressure
control equipment, different wireline equipment
e.g. wireline masts.

Course
philosophy
One of Aker Well Services core values is
Health, Safety and Environment (HSE). All our
procedures and guidelines are modeled with
HSE in focus and are implemented throughout
our organization; offshore as well as onshore
including the Well Intervention Academy (WIA).
We can offer a great variety of well intervention
courses; ranging from introduction to the oil &
gas industry to more specific areas as wireline
operations, basic completion courses as well
as courses in wireline tractor and cased hole
logging. In addition, AWS is certified to offer
IWCF courses and certification (pressure
control) in both drilling and well intervention
which we arrange on a regular basis.
Our main philosophy is hands on training,
meaning all our courses combine theory with
practical demonstration of surface equipment
and downhole tools. All of the equipment at
WIA is identical with equipment utilized in
offshore operations.
Integrated Operations (IO) is a field that
is getting more and more attention and
this will also be a focus area in the years
to come. IO is one of our focus areas, and
AWS is a great contributor in the development
of new technology and standards as well as
finding alternative solutions to perform well
interventions.

Satellite
centre
To satisfy our customers needs, Well Intervention
Academy has opened a satellite centre in the
Bergen area. The centre is located at Kokstad,
only few minutes away from Flesland airport.
The facilities include two spacious classrooms
and a dedicated room for one of our drilling
simulators. Regular IWCF pressure control courses
in both drilling and well intervention services are
arranged here.
The courses offered in our Bergen facility includes:
IWCF Rotary Drilling 5 days
IWCF Rotary Drilling Refresher 3 days
IWCF Well Intervention Combined 4 days
IWCF Well Intervention Combined Refresher 3 days
IWCF Well Intervention Wireline 3 days
IWCF Well Intervention Wireline Refresher 2 days
Please refer to the course overview later in this
catalogue to see a specific list of the topics
included in these courses.
The opportunity to undertake IWCF courses and
exams also in the Bergen area is very much
appreciated among our customers, and we would
like to welcome you as well!
