This file contains supplemental information on Cakewalk® Audio Finder, Version 3.7 It was
prepared on December 21, 2006.

CWAF 3.7 requires DirectX 8.0 or higher to be installed in order to use Direct Sound. 24 bit
audio will be streamed as 16 bit data to support the widest range of cards. If you are presented
with an error message about a missing ordinal in dsound.dll (or a missing DLL), it is fairly
certain that you need to upgrade your DirectX to version 8.0. CWAF 3.6 can still be used without
DirectX 8.0, but it will use MCI for playback (no 24 bit waves).

We have made every attempt to make CWAF safer to use for all users. The Configure dialog is
opened at every launch now, with all of the drives (except floppy) selected. Additional Warnings
are now issued when certain actions might have a dangerous result. Files are no longer deleted
(in normal use), but there is an action to move files to another folder of the users choosing or the
Windows Recycle bin. See the help file for information about how to delete files.

CWAF 3.7 Note

Supported SONAR project version: 15.2.0.xxx (SONAR 6.2).

The CWAFTOOL.INI file is now located under the Windows Application Data folder.
On Windows XP the default location is:
C:\Documents and Settings\[UserName]\Application Data\Cakewalk\CWAF

CWAF 3.3 Note

A new project column has been added: Version. This field displays the version of SONAR used
to create the file.

CWAF 3.0 Note

New options have been added to the configure dialog: you can now choose whether or not to use
DirectSound for playback preview. When DirectSound is not operational, MCI will be used to
playback the audio. If you are using DirectSound, you can also choose which hardware sound
driver should be used to playback audio. The Primary Sound Driver option corresponds to the
one chosen as the system Preferred Device in the Control Panel | Sounds and Multimedia applet.

The CWAF main application window is now resizable. A File Path column has been added to
the Wave list to help provide support for SONAR 2.0. As the Find search progresses, all audio
from any per-project folder is added to the Wave list, and any orphaned wave files in a per-
project folder is offered as a candidate for deletion.

Note that when audio is missing because it is being referenced as external audio, and it happens
that the audio has been moved, the Locate Missing… command may find the audio, but be
unable to move or copy it. In this case the Locate Missing dialog action fields will be disabled,
although the pathname of the audio will be filled in and the status given as Located. You will
need to use SONAR to fix up these references: CWAF can not write into SONAR files.

When a SONAR template (.CWT) contains audio references, SONAR ignores any per-project
audio folder information stored in a template. To account for this, CWAF treats audio references
in a SONAR template as existing in both the global and local project folders.
