Introduction
You are invited to apply for an Administrative Officer (AO) post within the Finance, Planning and
Performance Division of the Treasury Solicitors Department (TSol), based in One Kemble Street, London
WC2B 4TS.

The Treasury Solicitors Department (TSol) is the largest provider of legal services across government,
working with over 180 government departments and agencies. TSol is the single shared legal service for
government and is a public sector exemplar of a cutting edge, business driven provider of professional

The Team
TSols Finance, Planning and Performance (FPP) team of 30 and has all the responsibilities of supporting
a government department to manage and report finance and performance. The external reporting
requirements placed on TSol are the same as those of larger government departments, and in addition,
TSol having only limited resources, needs to have a robust internal performance and finance management
regime to ensure we get maximum value for money for our clients. The variety of work offered by TSols
Finance, Planning and Performance division is very diverse when compared to finance roles in some
larger organisations.

FPP also provide financial services to support the Attorney Generals Office and HM Crown Prosecution
Service Inspectorate.
The finance team is very busy and last year issued over 30,000 case-related bills, collected 153 million
income, processed 13,000 client monies transactions, paid 30,000 supplier invoices and handled over
26,000 payments and receipts relating to Bona Vacantia. We were also the first government department
to publish its annual report and accounts for 2012-13 and 2013-14 and were awarded Government
Finance Team of the year in 2012 by the Government Finance Profession.

The Post
The successful candidate will work with the transactional processing teams to accurately record our
financial transactions in a prompt timely way, adhering to the rule and control in place to protect
government funds. The work will be varied and being part of a small team, the successful applicant is
expected to work flexibly across all teams. An interest in government finance would be an advantage.
You will need to be both well organised, able to work quickly and at the same time, accurately and you
will be expected to take the initiative to resolve problems and issues. It is essential that you have a good
knowledge of IT. The posts will involve liaison with lawyers and legal teams and other support services
such as HR, facilities management and the IT Department. You will also communicate with TSols clients
and suppliers on a daily basis.

Selection
Candidates who appear from the information on the completed application to be the best suited for the
posts, and who pass the online test, will be invited to interview.

The Selection Board will normally consist of two or three interviewers who will question you on the
Knowledge, Skills and Ability required for the post.

Terms and Conditions


Nationality
These posts are open to UK nationals, members of the Commonwealth, European Economic Area (EEA)
members and certain non-member EEA family members. Candidates from the Commonwealth must be
free from any restrictions to reside and take up employment in the UK.
Probation
Successful candidates (excluding existing Civil Servants who have already passed probation) will be
required to complete a 10 month probation period.
Pension
The Civil Service offers a choice of stakeholder or defined benefit pension scheme, giving you the
opportunity to choose a pension that suits you the best.
Salary
The starting salary for these posts is: 21,210
Hours & Leave
You will be expected to work a 5-day week of 37 hours (excluding lunch breaks).
Applications from those wanting to work part-time, or as a job share, will be considered.
Flexible working is offered, determined by business need and subject to regular review.
The annual leave allowance is 25 days, rising to 30 days after 5 years total service.
Maternity Leave
26 weeks paid contractual maternity leave on each relevant occasion. (39 weeks statutory maternity pay)
Paternity Leave
2 weeks paid paternity leave on each relevant occasion. (2 weeks statutory paternity pay)
Retirement Age
TSol has no normal retirement age.

If you are an existing Civil Servant and are successful for this post you will transfer to TSol on a permanent
basis on TSols terms and conditions.
The transfer is voluntary and does not attract relocation costs, excess fares and travel costs.
