Name of Activity: SMK Senai Mural Project 2014
Brief Description of Activity: The SMK Senai Mural Project will work towards
restoring some of the murals around the school compound by using student talent
and creativity to re-paint murals around the school compound. The first mural to be
re-stored is the mural on the science lab building. The students who are interested
will each submit themes, ideas, and sketches of their ideas for the mural, and we
will vote on which one will be used. I will guide the students through the first
theme. Because the mural will be on the science lab building, I would like students
to come up with ideas related to a science theme.
Objective: The project has two objectives. One, is to involve students in a
creative endeavor that will allow them to speak English amongst themselves to plan
and execute painting a mural. Second, restoring the murals will give students
something to be proud of and allow them to show the importance of caring about
their school.
Target Group: The target group for this project will be students who are interested
in using their talents in art and their knowledge of English language to create a
mural. This project is open to all forms, and will be based on student interest.
Date and Venue: This project will take place at SMK Senai throughout the year. I
plan to hold meetings for the mural during school hours at recess and before and
after school.

Transportation: The students will not need any additional transportation for this
activity.
Activity Schedule:
End of March/Beginning of April

Recruit students for involvement and

begin brainstorming ideas for a science
themed mural. Maybe hold a design
competition for students to come up with
the mural.

April- May

Whitewash the mural currently on the

science lab block and begin sketching
the new mural.

*Have final sketch chosen and finished

by May 15th*
Before May/June Holiday

Have the mural sketched and ready to

start painting when students get back
from mid-term holiday

July-September

Paint the mural

September 30th

Science themed mural will be finished!

Other People Involved: I will be asking art teachers if they are interested in
helping out and possibly an interested English teacher. I will need help from the art
teacher figuring out what materials and resources the school already has for a
project like this to possibly reduce cost.
