Course Objectives: This course is designed to be a blend of theory and real-world practices. It covers both
the forecasting of travel demand and the evaluation of transportation alternatives including the estimation of
transportation impacts. The student will gain a level of understanding of:
Urban travel Demand Forecasting (TDF) (Traditional Four-Step Process)
How TDF is used to support planning activities
Hands on use of a computer software package for Travel Demand Forecasting
The transportation evaluation process
The estimation methodologies
The derivation of monetary measures, and their application to a real world example.
To learn and comprehend the role of Intelligent Transportation Systems in providing solutions to
transportation problems.

Evaluation of class participation will consider lecture attendance (taken every class). Students are not allowed
to miss more than 3 classes for any reason. After three misses the following deductions would apply to the final
grade: 4 misses= 4 points; 5 misses = 6 points; 6 and above misses =10 points.
Assignments are to be delivered when the class starts. No late assignments will be accepted unless there is
a very justifiable reason for you to miss it (e.g., family emergencies or medical visits. These emergencies
require verification from family member and Doctor respectively).The course grading scheme is as follows:
