OVER THE TOP (AND DOWN BELOW)

by bruggadung!
These warmers/toppers are all about shaping. Using a series of increases and various needle
sizes, these cheerful little accessories add a splash of colour to the most shapely of calves. Sure,
I could have just knit a tube but, as my calves are not straight up and down, why should my
knitting be? :D
Worked up in worsted weight yarn, this pattern takes 1 skein of approximately 200m for a solid
pair or 2 skeins for a striped pair (100m or so of each is really all you need so its an option for
those wishing to use up odds and ends).
I would like to recommend TECHknittings piece on knitting jogless stripes should you choose
to work stripes. I would also like to offer up is the Raised Increase or Lifted Increase (I shall
abbreviate this as Inc 1). Check out Knitty for this technique (it is included in this tutorial about
half way down). For this pattern the new stitch is worked in knit.
This pattern is for the slouchy version on the left but I have added the notes for the less slouchy
version pictured on the right as well.
