Independent Fundamental Baptist Missionaries to the Philippines sent by Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Brogue, PA

Three new supporting churches

We are so thankful for the good news of three new supporting churches in the New
Year. We gladly acknowledge Heritage Baptist Church, Palmyra, NY (Pastor Tim
Young), Long Hill Baptist Church, Trumbull, CT (Pastor Bob Hammond), and
McGregor Road Baptist Church, Acton, IN (Pastor Chris Kaiser). Praise God that we
can settle down and be fully supported! Thank you for your sacrificial giving and partnership in the ministry.

PRAISE REPORTS:
1.

Praise God for another

amazing
prison
ministry
blessing. Many of the men
that attended the last meeting did not raise their hands
again to receive the Lord
Jesus as Saviour because
they had such assurance
when
the
gospel
was
preached to them in December. Another dozen men
made professions of faith in
January. One inmate wrote
to say that he and his wife
are determined to visit Mt.
Zion Baptist Church when he
gets out. Pray for Brother
John.

2.

Praise God for His faithfulness and the faithfulness of

our ministry partners. Your
giving and praying is a huge
encouragement to us.

Some things I have learned along the way RE: deputation.

1.

Most churches & pastors that we have been in have a heart & mind towards missions.
They plan and purpose to grow their missionary outreach both at home and abroad because they recognize and value the Great Commission.

2.

In the grand scheme of things, Gods mission and call is accompanied by His hand of
provision and protection. The missionarys support team is already determined by God,
and the missionary gets the blessing of seeking them out through the deputation ministry.

3.

When it comes to asking for a meeting, the key character trait that God blesses is endurance. A pastor or a church secretary can easily expect upwards to 200 phone calls a year
from missionaries. Timing is also a huge factor for consideration. But do call, and leave a
clear message if needed. Follow up on that phone call; send an email. Send a letter of
interest. Send a message/text on Facebook or any social media if needs be. Find out how
they communicate and communicate on their platform, but the key thing is communication.

4.

Exercise faith: Faith in Gods calling towards ministry, faith in launching out into uncharted
territories. Faith in God will keep you on the right path when the going gets tough. Faith is
the victory because faith honors God, and God honors faith.

5.

Be on time and honor the time allotted. Clarify expectations ahead of time. Send confirmation letters, emails, or texts. Communicate again prior to a scheduled visit to maximize the
opportunity to present your salvation testimony, burden and calling, training, experiences,
and sending.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

6.

Be clean (and clean up after yourselves). Be holy. Be praying. Be contributing. Be appreciative. Be encouraging. Be available. Be flexible. Be alert (watch and learn).

1.

7.

Prepare ahead of time. Have a full length sermon ready, a 15 minute challenge/testimony
ready, a five minute food for thought, a Jr. church/childrens ministry lesson ready; a teentime challenge, a senior saints challenge. Prepare and know what to say if and when the
DVD/slides/multi-media presentation doesnt work.

8.

Minister to the minister. Sometimes, they just need someone to listen. Minister to the people. Sometimes, they just need someone to listen. Minister to fellow missionaries. Sometimes, they just need someone to listen. Listen actively, listen well, and listen often.

Pray for our house to sell.

We had a couple of people
look. We even had an open
house. But no bites thus
far. Just call upon the LORD.
He will hear and bless!

2.

Pray for (Marcias dad) Evangelist Randy Starr and Mrs.

Shirley Starr, too. Dr. Starr
was diagnosed with lymphoma in December. He had to
cancel meetings to make
room for chemotherapy clear
until May. Pray for healing,
provisions, wisdom, and
strength.

3.

Pray for wisdom regarding

plans for a summer Bible
conference in the Philippines
with a fellow missionary and
two national pastors and
churches.

9.

Communicate your burden of and calling to the mission field. Present the problem (the
need), present the solution (the Lord Jesus Christ, in you, the hope of glory), and present
the purpose and the plan. Pray through your presentation and pray after your presentation.

10. Be thankful. Say thank you. Write thank you notes and letters of appreciation. Be a giver,
not a grabber, not a complainer, but an appreciator, and an exhorter! People dont give
because they have it, they give because they believe in God and His work. Show them a
thankful spirit by expressing your gratitude.
11. Notate areas of improvement. Somebody said, its like this Good, better, best. Never let it
rest, until your good becomes better, and your better becomes the best. Learn from mistakes. Failure doesnt have to be final.
