Cretheus, Scholar of Corinth, Childe of

Mithras
Date of embrace: 430 BC
Sire: Mithras
Long term goal: To save the world from Gehenna. (Secondary
goals: to leave Hunedoara Castle; achieve Golconda)
READ THIS FIRST!
The game is set in Hunedoara Castle, Translyvania. The NPCs are the Inconnu, an
extremely powerful sect of elder vampires who gathered in the castle to work towards
achieving Golconda, a state of enlightenment where a vampire is no longer governed by
their Beast the vampire returns to an almost human state, and is considered to be
redeemed from the curse of Caine. Saulot, the sire of the Salubri clan, was the first to
teach vampires about Golconda, but he was diablerised by the Tremere clan, who
proceeded to hunt the Salubri. The Inconnu sought to protect the Salubri & Saulots
legacy, and faced imminent destruction by the Tremere Council of Seven. The Inconnu
have been trapped in the castle since 1525, when one of the Inconnu, Cretheus, found a
way to create a pact between the Inconnu & a demon, Nikanuuranu, that would shroud
Hunedoara castle from the world & thus protect those inside. The pact requires the
sacrifice of a vampire every year, on the anniversary of its commencement. As the game
begins, the sacrifice is due

(You have used the ritual Innocence of the Childs Heart to change your aura to a blank
state. A requirement of the ritual is that you carry around a childs toy. Feel free to bring
one along, or we can supply something)
Feelings toward your fellow Inconnu:
You are above them all. You are the only one who could save them all by forming the
pact. They all owe you their gratitude for their unlives. Instead, they complain about
being trapped here with you. Over the centuries it has grown rather tiresome. You wish
that you could get out there & do some real work in the world, promoting Golconda &
averting Gehenna, rather than wasting your intellect here. You know that you are the
closest to Golconda, and that there is no hope for the others, however much you try to
show them the way.
Feelings toward the victim: (At the start of the game, one of the Inconnu,
Danika, is found dead!)
Danika was simply a part of the herd. She was just as tiresome as the rest of the Inconnu,
and occasionally irritatingly possessive when it came to the castle. You felt that she

blamed you for being a permanent guest in her beloved home, and held you responsible
for the Inconnu imposing on her beloved Hunedoara.

The seven things that you want to accomplish

You met the Norwich Sabbat before, in December 1271, at a makeshift Court of
Mithras near Acre, in the Holy Lands, during the Ninth Crusade. Though this is far
in your past, it is in their future. The event has faded somewhat from your
memory with the fog of ages, but the Sabbat were there to procure Mithras help
in destroying an antediluvian. Your sire, wanted something in return, of course,
and the Sabbat were dispatched to Damascus on a secret mission against the
Mamluks. There was some talk about Jerusalem as well; you are unsure whether
some of the Sabbat went there? You have never seen them again, until now. You
are curious as to how their mission went, and what they have been up to in the
meantime?

In 2010, you felt your sire, Mithras, die. You know that the Norwich Sabbat were
responsible. In addition, your own herd were a cult of Mithraists, which were
greatly affected by the influence war against Mithras. You are curious to hear firsthand about the slaying of your sire, who greatly influenced you, but ultimately
disappointed you. You also wish to make it clear that you are not pleased about
the damage done to your herd by the Norwich Sabbat.

One of your long-held dreams is to see God face to face. You believe that your
salvation will come when you finally meet God. As a consequence, you are eager
for any theological knowledge that the Norwich Sabbat might possess do they
know anything of angels or fallen angels?

You created the ritual that bound the Inconnu to Hunedoara, so you have some
knowledge of how it works. You know that each year, on the anniversary of the
Pact, a sacrifice is required to renew it. You know that the demon Nikanuuranu is
bound to the castle as surely as the Inconnu are, and that to defeat it you would
need to free it from its bonds and then destroy it. The Inconnu cannot fight it, as
they are all connected to it, but an outsider could. You know that to release the
demon, each of the Inconnu would need to have their pact seal broken & that the
item that binds the demon to the castle would need to be found & unlocked. You
have never been able to detect this item anywhere in the castle, so there is no
chance that anyone else will. If it were only found, you would be soooo close to
being free again!

You are willing to trade knowledge of Thaumaturgical rituals with other

Thaumaturgists. You always seek to broaden your magical knowledge. You hate
what the Tremere did to the Salubri, but any individual Tremere can be redeemed,
once you ascertain that they do not intend to harm Mahtiel, or any other Salubri,
and that they will not destroy the writings & wisdom of the Salubri. You remain

vague as to which rituals you possess, but take a concrete interest in what others
can offer you.

You are a fervent proselytiser for Saulots teachings. You believe that any vampire
can achieve salvation by reaching Golconda. You attempt to spread that wisdom
wherever possible.

You have been told by the fortune telling of Abdalkutba that the Inconnu are the
worlds best hope against Gehenna. You intend to fulfil that destiny, and are thus
eager for any information about the antediluvians. You are more than willing to
join in the fight against any antediluvian, should the Norwich Sabbat be planning
one.

Feelings toward your fellow Inconnu:

They all look down upon you as the child of the group, a servant, a shallow soul to be
pitied, because you have no interest in Golconda. After 500 years of this contempt, you
thoroughly despise the other Inconnu. You would do anything to get back at them, and
often indulge in petty vengeance for their many slights. You would like to see them fail to
achieve Golconda, just so that they would have to stop being so darn superior.
Feelings toward the victim: (At the start of the game, one of the Inconnu,
Danika, is found dead!)
Danika was your sire. She embraced you to be the seneschal of Hunedoara Castle, yet
she never seemed to really trust you to look after the place, and always blamed you for
your failure to protect the castle from the Tremere. She considered you a disappointment
from the very beginning, and never hesitated to pour scorn upon you. You hated her
above all the other Inconnu, but were forced to do her bidding as her childe.

The five things that you want to accomplish

You are responsible for the death of the Salubri named Rothriel, a great friend of
Danika, and the lover of Mahtiel. Danika left you with him while she fought some
Tremere, and you were supposed to protect him. Your courage failed, you
panicked, and the Rothriel was forced to sacrifice himself to defeat the Tremere
who had you cornered. If this were ever discovered, Danika or Rothriel would
either destroy you or make your unlife an unending torture. Protecting this secret
has been a constant worry for the last 500 years!

You are now the master of Hunedoara Castle, with the death of your sire. The duty
of hospitality now falls to you Danika always doubted your abilities, but now is
your chance to shine as a host. You are eager to greet everyone, and see that all
your guests are impressed by their dazzling host! You will try to accommodate
their every whim, to demonstrate your control & hosting skills. You proudly show
off the castle artefacts, but react nervously whenever anything (or anyone)
threatens to damage your domain.

You are eager to undermine the others, and try to persuade the Norwich Sabbat to
play tricks on your fellow Inconnu. You offer rewards of wealth, knowledge or
influence to any in the Norwich Sabbat that will make the other Inconnu look like
fools, or inconvenience them by petty theft, moving things around etc. You are
also exceedingly bored after 500 years in one place, and will look for any kind of
diversion or passing amusement.

The Norwich Sabbat may investigate the death of your sire, in which case you are
eager to point out her many flaws, and to suggest that anyone would long to

destroy her. If you like, pick one of the other Inconnu to blame the murder on,
just to make their unlives more awkward! Feel free to make up terrible stories
about the things that your sire did, to ensure that she will not be remembered
with respect, but with the scorn that she so richly deserves.

You are fascinated by that new-fangled technology stuff in fact, you are the
Inconnus expert on the subject. While you have not been brave enough to take
the plunge into personal computing, you do own a gas generator, which you use
to power electric lights, as well as a variety of cheap electronic handheld games
from the 80s & 90s, a portable stereo with a small CD collection, an electric
typewriter etc. You are very proud of these gadgets, and will show them off to
your visitors. You are also fascinated by any technological devices that they might
have themselves.

Feelings toward your fellow Inconnu:

They are all poor students who need your guidance. Anastazia is too young to realise the
truth of Golconda, but she must be forgiven the sins of youth. Abdalkutba & Cret are well
on their way to Golconda, but, sadly, they continue to insist that Demetrius is mad & has
not achieved Golconda, so it is hard to show them the way. You try to stop them all
arguing amongst themselves if they could just let go of their egos, they could join you.
You feel reverence towards Mahtiel, your sleeping angel. If any of the others bring her
sorrow or threaten her, you act to protect her & punish those responsible.
Feelings toward the victim: (At the start of the game, one of the Inconnu,
Danika, is found dead!)
You got on quite well with Danika. As a host, she was occasionally a bit irritable, but she
fulfilled her duties & looked after you well, and you would often converse she listened
to you more than the others, and was usually polite about it, too!

The five things that you want to accomplish

You have achieved Golconda, and you wish to share your knowledge of it with
others, so that they can join you in Saulots blessed state. Your suspire took the
form of a dream where Saulot guided you to Golconda, and you want to tutor
others on the suspire itself. You have a pamphlet Travelling the Unmapped Road
that you hand out to any who are interested.

You are a master of the Ordo Aenigmatis, an order of Malkavian mystics. You have
adopted the persona of the Master of Ravens to conduct correspondence with
promising Malkavian mystics. You are always on the look-out for new recruits to
the Ordo.

You are part of the Malkavian Reality Busters movement, which seeks to disrupt
conventional perceptions. The general modus operandi of the group is to employ
Disciplines to evoke all manner of hallucinations, delusions and other sensations
not in accordance with accepted "reality". You know that empirical reality has

been cut off from the infinite possibility of true reality, due to various godlike
creatures destroying their connection to the rest of the universe, and therefore
disrupting the flow of potential which powers magical phenomena. It is your aim
to restore this connection as fully as you are able, and you know that the Fae also
attempt to serve a similar function.

Be insufferably cryptic. Use creative riddles and metaphors to illustrate your

points, and just smile knowingly if nobody understands you obviously, they
arent as ready as they think. Never refer to anybody directly by name, lest you
inadvertently cause them harm. (You believe that words, especially the names of
people & objects, can lose their power if over-used.) Even the nicknames you
devise for people must be changed periodically, or else they will begin to bear the
weight of reality. Perform little kindnesses for guests & treat them with utmost
sympathy. If they rebuff you approach them again just as gently later.

You know that Malkav was a close friend of Saulot (possibly his twin, and the one
who gave him his third eye) and is thus perhaps the closest link to Saulot left to
the kindred (bar the Salubri, who are even more awesome!) As such, you devote
some efforts to contacting your antediluvian, who you believe to be the voice of
the Malkavian madness network. You have heard lore that suggests that he
slumbers beneath Jerusalem, and sometimes speaks in dreams to those who live
or visit there. You would like to visit yourself, but that is currently impossible.
Perhaps you can recruit a proxy?

Feelings toward your fellow Inconnu:

The other Inconnu are all deluded & ignorant. Only you see things clearly, with the aid of
your impressive Auspex, and with your divinatory fortune-telling ability. You find Mahtiel
slightly more intriguing, and often attempt to awaken her from her slumber, without
Demetrius finding out. You often spend time observing the others, simply because you
are so bored after 500 years of confinement. Whilst dull, the other Inconnu remain your
only source of diversion, and you would do anything to make things more interesting,
such as playing tricks on the other Inconnu, or pitting them against each other.
Feelings toward the victim: (At the start of the game, one of the Inconnu,
Danika, is found dead!)
Danikas horoscope was never well-aspected whilst you admired her strength, you were
always worried that the rest of you would get pulled into her doom by her ill-fated stars.

The five things that you want to accomplish

You honour the past greatness of Nikanuuranu, and pity its terrible fall. You know
it to be a being that was present at the very dawn of creation, a being that has
seen Dushara (the Nabataean great god) face to face. You do not trust the demon,
but over the centuries, you have had many interesting conversations. You now

feel a greater rapport with the demon than with the rest of the Inconnu. You would
gladly betray any of the other Inconnu to escape. You have always loved
travelling & feel a terrible wanderlust in your confinement that motivates you to
do anything to be free again.

You collect souvenirs of far-away places, and would gladly trade knowledge or
objects in return for stories or mementos of journeys. You also often persuade
others to undertake quests so that you can experience it vicariously through
them. You have taken an interest in the Cathayans, and (often fatally) persuade
your followers to journey to the East. You have also been known to tell young
kindred that the course of Gehenna will hinge on the outcome of a quest of your
devising

You will do anything to relieve the boredom of 500 years in one place. You set
various riddles & challenges for the Sabbat of Norwich as a diversion from your
usual monotony, including organising an impromptu series of pit fights. You are a
gifted fortune-teller, able to discover vague omens about those you meet. You can
cast the fortunes of your guests (feel free to make up what you have foreseen!)

As an Assamite, you take some interest in the affairs of your clan. You have heard
that the clan has recently accepted a petition to join the Sabbat, and are curious
as to details regarding this. You do not intend to join the Mountain once you are
free, but your clan is a passing distraction. You do not distinguish amongst the
other clans, except the filthy Tremere, who afflicted you with the Curse of Thorns
you often work to undermine the Tremere through your agents.

Whilst you have spent most of your un-life in pursuit of Golconda, you do not
actually lust after the state of peace that this blessed state supposedly grants.
Rather, you wish to attain Golconda simply so that you can say that you have
mastered all the secrets of the universe, all the secrets of the Cainite condition.
You have an interest in any lore pertaining to the kindred condition or to the
nature of heaven & earth.

Feelings toward your fellow Inconnu:

You are not overly concerned with the other Inconnu, as you are mostly in torpor. You still
value the advice of Demetrius and appreciate his solicitude, even though you realises
that it borders uncomfortably on worship. You resent Anastazia for being part of the
confrontation that led to Rothriels death. The other Inconnu (bar Demetrius) are all evil
to some extent, but you dont really care anymore after all, you also made a deal with a
demon.
Feelings toward the victim: (At the start of the game, one of the Inconnu,
Danika, is found dead!)
You were grateful when Lady Danika offered you sanctuary she always made you
welcome, and you were grateful, though you were really beyond caring about anything in
the empty world. You respected her domain. You resented her for being a part of the
events which led to Rothriels death.

Path of Chivalry (fine amor)

Ethics: (those of the road of kings +)
The blood of Caine makes you superior to mortals, therefore you have the responsibility
to protect and aid your inferiors. (especially women.) Duty comes before all else (duty
to one's lady is mores important than duty to one's lord) Honor is everything. (including
the honor of one's lady) Without your honor you are (she is) no more than a beast.
Hierarchy of sins against Chivalry (fine amor)
5 Neglecting your duty (to your lady) for any reason; Dishonorable (shameful) acts (e.g.
ambush, deceit, etc. greed, chastity)
4 Treating another with disrespect; Behaving in an unjust manner
3 Behaving shamefully in front of your peers (a lady); Failing to come to those in need (a
lady)
2 Treating a superior (your lady) with disrespect; Failing to answer a challenge to your
(lady's) honor
1 Breaking your word; Breaking a sworn oath

The five things that you want to accomplish

You have heard that Rothriel left a journal which became fragmented. You would
be interested in finding any copies or remaining sections of it.

You have a deep & abiding hatred of the Tremere. You joined the Salubri rebels
under Adonai when they decided to enact revenge for Saulots death. This is what
you & Rothriel quarrelled over. As Adonai is now a Sabbat Priscus, you are almost
Sabbat by default. You wish to avenge Saulot & Rothriel. You also hate the Setites,
as do all Salubri. You do not speak of Saulots diablerie by name, but rather as
The Great Event, The Great Cataclysm, The First Night or The Wicked Day

If you ever discover who was responsible for Rothriels death, you will transfer all
your rage, shame & self-hatred onto them instead.

You fought in the third Baali War (636 AD) alongside the Assamites. There, you
fought the Baali at their fortress of Chorizon & the Assamites were cursed with
vitae addiction. Samiel died there, taking out the Baali methuselah Belial. You
hate the Baali & wish to see them destroyed. You also hate the traitor Ahab, who
betrayed Samiel, aided the Tremere diablerie of Saulot, and still works against the
Salubri. You are, however, ambivalent towards the Assamites, as you fought
against them in the crusades.

You know the level 6 Obfuscate power Soul Mask, which allows you to alter your aura to
anything that you wish. Listed above are some suggested answers to the possible
questions, but feel free to improvise!
Feelings toward your fellow Inconnu:
You go through the motions of rivalry & intrigue, but you really dont care anymore. You
seldom even bother to point out the others failings & betrayals of their old ideals. Over

the years, you have tried to keep the rest of the Inconnu on the path to Golconda, and
then to persuade them to quit the Pact, but you have failed both times. You know that
they all dislike you & feel that they cannot trust you, simply because of your clan; they
disgust you, and you would do anything to be free of them all.
Feelings toward the victim: (At the start of the game, one of the Inconnu,
Danika, is found dead!)
You didnt really have any strong feelings towards Danika; you were already far along the
road towards enlightenment before you met her, and she was just as full of hypocrisy as
the rest of the Inconnu.
Note on Talismans
To perform your magic, you must make use of magical talismans. To this end, you have a
large number of amulets on you at any given time. You also have a ghouled cobra & 3
animated statues in your quarters.

The five things that you want to accomplish

You are the only one of the Inconnu not to have made a deal with the demon. You
are quite willing to walk out of the Pact, if only the other Inconnu would agree. You
alone amongst the Inconnu retain the strength & purity to best the demon. You
would love to convince the others to cease their squabbles & unite against the
demon, but you cannot torture yourself with such hopes any longer. Let the
demon take them all, so long as you escape.

You believe that existence is a test, set by the Dark God. You are hoping that
others will test you, so that you might reach your suspire, and from there
Golconda. You attempt to test others, by creating moral dilemmas & tests of
courage. You believe that the way to pass the test is to do the right thing
unflinchingly moral cowardice is the greatest sin.

You have long dreamed of combining the teachings of Set & Saulot. Ancient
writings suggest that Set & Saulot were twins, so Set is the only remaining moral
authority, now that Saulot is dead. Most scoff at your dream, and distrust your
clan, so you are a bit touchy about the subject. Despite this, you think it is a
dream worth pursuing. You long to return to your clan and show its hidebound
ancients the true path to wisdom.

You attempt to convert others to the worship of Set you corrupt them in order to
see how they will cope with the test. You are sad that your clan so often operate
from the shadows, using deception, and want to openly preach the word of Set.
Therefore, you will bring up your philosophies & the glory of Set when you
converse with others, and maintain contact with promising students.

You were incredibly angry when Saulot was destroyed. You realised this & were
ashamed to see such a failing in yourself, preventing you from reaching Golconda.
In an attempt to compensate, you will be especially nice to any Tremere that you
meet.

Note on Set
The Set of Vampire: The Masquerade is the same as the Egyptian deity.
Set was once a god, born on the river Nile of Egypt, almost 7,000 years ago. He was a
great hunter and warrior; his only rival was his elder brother, Osiris, who had a son
named Horus. Ra was their grandfather & king. Set learned that Ra, Osiris and Horus all
hid the truth from mortals: that human souls were not fundamentally different from those
of the gods, and that only ignorance of what was possible prevented them from attaining
great power. For this Ra banished Set. Set destroyed King Osiris and his son Horus. Taking
Egypt as his own, Set ruled in power - and sought to free mankind from the bonds of law
imposed by Ra.
Set recruited twelve talented Disciples. (The antediluvians.) He taught them the truth,
and together they swore an oath to bring down Ra and the other false gods and become
gods themselves. Set mingled his blood with that of his Disciples and when they drank of
it, he gave up the greater share of his power, granting all thirteen almost equal might
(though as a true god, he remained the most powerful).
Seeing their blood oath, Ra interrupted the meeting and cursed them all to feed only on
the blood of others, and walk only in darkness. The antediluvians, fearful for their lives,
betrayed Set and his teachings and begged forgiveness, and so Set swore to destroy
them all.
Orthodox Setite belief dictates that Set will one day return to rule or consume the world,
and devout Setites prepare the way for his resurrection. To this end, the clan remains
independent. They refer to themselves as the Mesu Bedshet, the "Children of Rebellion".

Feelings toward your fellow Inconnu:

You truly despise your sire, Cret, who is now your bitter enemy. You occasionally ally with
the other Inconnu, who are all more tolerable than Cret, because they are not Cret. You
tried to defend your sire at first, but you came to realise that he had betrayed your trust.
You thought he was the greatest Cainite in the world, but it turns out that he was so, so
very wrong! You hate Mahtiel, who disgusts you because she gave up the fight & you
hate quitters. (If anyone calls you a quitter you will get extremely angry!) You find the
Inconnu too passive why dont they get out there & fight?!
Feelings toward the victim: (At the start of the game, one of the Inconnu,
Danika, is found dead!)
You have always been sensitive about being seen as a barbarian. The way that Danika
sometimes treated you all as interlopers in her domain got up your nose. But she
wasnt Cret, so you would sometimes talk to her.

The five things that you want to accomplish

You wish to equal your sire, and the main way that you can do this is by
outstripping him in magical accomplishments. You would give a lot to know any
Thaumaturgy or Thaumaturgical rituals that he doesnt know.

You despise the Tremere, who murdered the Salubri. You often use your magic to
harass the clan that made itself your enemy. You know that these actions keep
you from Golconda, but protecting Saulots legacy means more than your own
redemption. The Tremere were too strong for you when you entered the Pact, but
if you could fight them again, on a more equal footing

You would leap at any chance to spite Cret, encouraging the other Inconnu to turn
against him. If you have any guests, you will also encourage them to work against
your sire.

You have always been a soldier. You welcome any chance to see others spar. You
can only feed on mortals who have engaged in a fight, so you arrange for the
castle guards to fight vigorous mock combats every day. You would also welcome
the chance for further action. You love the fight, but the only problem is finding a
just cause, untouched by political manipulations. (your sire has manipulated you

enough for you to never submit to politics again!) The antediluvians always
seemed remote, but if the threat were concrete, you would gladly fight against
one. This deal with a demon is dirty, and you only wish that you could fight it!

You helped develop the Assamite discipline of Dur-An-Ki and studied with the
Assamite masters at the mountain for decades. Though you fought against them
in the crusades, you have always had a soft spot for these fellow Cainite warriors.
If you meet any, you will chat eagerly about what battles they have seen.

No
You struck a deal with the demon in return for immunity to Frenzy & Humanity loss, you
cannot lie.
Feelings toward your fellow Inconnu:
Your companions are evil. They sold you a false utopia. You let your faith in Saulot &
Mokur blind you to the flaws of their disciples, the Inconnu. Whilst you are too dejected to
really feel anger, you feel something bordering on hatred for Cret, the great betrayer. You
reserve plenty of scorn for the rest. You refuse to participate in their intrigues, but gladly
advocate any effort against Cret, so you frequently team up with Hilderic.
Feelings toward the victim: (At the start of the game, one of the Inconnu,
Danika, is found dead!)
You remained polite to Danika alone of your fellow Inconnu. Her determination to keep
providing for those she hated, until Gehenna if necessary, impressed you long after
everything else about her ceased to.

The five things that you want to accomplish

Your hope has been crushed so many times. After Carthage you swore that you
would never again be sold a false utopia, and yet here you are. The promise of
Golconda was the only glimmer of hope in your recent existence, and you met
with Saulot face-to-face several times. When Saulot was murdered, you had
nothing left to pin your hopes on. You have spent your existence searching for an
answer to the ferocity of your beast taking pleasure in bloodshed & violence
seemed a betrayal of your own inner nature. If anyone has any promising
research, or manages to avoid being corrupted by the demon, you will begin to
take an interest in their doings.

You are a doctor, and rejoice at any chance to save lives you were raised to treat
other people as though their bodies were temples and their spirits the resident
gods.

You lived in Carthage with Troile in happier times, and often like to reminisce
about those days. You will tell anyone who will listen how wisely & virtuously Troile
ruled Carthage, and how wonderful it was to live side by side with humans. The
dream suffered a gradual decline towards evil

Carthage was, in the remaining centuries before the coming of Christianity, the jewel of
the Mediterranean. She was the premiere power of the oceans and wealthy beyond
comprehension. In the Brujahs desire to build something greater than Caine's Second
City, they consorted with the Baali. Whether it was to gain more power in the courts of
Carthage, to increase personal wealth or improve their standing within the clan, young
and old Brujah alike secretly petitioned the bloodline to enrich their holdings and help
immortalize their city. Slowly, deliberately, subtly, the Baali desensitized the Brujah to
the growing brutality of their own actions. It was Baali who advised the Brujah to make
ghouls of Hannibal's war elephants, so that the animals could withstand their journey
across the Alps and wreak that much more havoc.
It was so much easier for this clan of "philosophers" to Embrace and drain their victims
when the Baali convinced them it was for the greater good of the city to do so. Oh, the
Brujah deny it now, but in Carthage, Moloch (a Baali methuselah) rose to become Ba'alHammon, a god. Troile even looked the other way when kine sacrificed their children to
Moloch, and when their limbs and organs filled the scarcely hidden Baali wells.

While Troile despised the Baali presence, he and Moloch had a special rapport that
mystified all who witnessed it. Moloch suspected Troile of having a taste for Diablerie,
and encouraged this aspect in him. Eventually, Troile would drain others to lessen his
thirst, sharing his feasts with his beloved Moloch.
Over the centuries, it became easier for Moloch to talk Troile into committing various
perversions. It started with drinking Cainite vitae, when the Baali Methuselah convinced
Troile to drain his enemies as a lesson to others. That worsened the Antediluvian's thirst.
Troile then Embraced victims simple to drain them of their vitae. After a few decades of
this, Troile began attending rites at the organ pit and watched as Baali sacrificed children
in his presence. Although he never took part in the rituals, he watched quietly. Moloch
once told his most trusted childe, Tanit, that Troile came to the rituals to see if any shred
of his conscience was left to decry the atrocities he witnessed. There was none. The Baali
celebrated Troile's continuing plummet, not realizing that in the century of Moloch's
friendship with the Antediluvian, the two had become Blood-Oathbound lovers.

When Carthage finally fell during the Third Punic War, the Brujah dream was already
dead. Troile suffered the kind of quiet depression that eventually leads to the triumph of
the Beast, even his own childer deserted him. They fled mostly out of shame for what
they had done in the name of Carthage, blaming the Baali and the Roman Ventrue for
their weakness, of course. The Baali had merely shown the Brujah their true faces, and
nothing more.

As Troile fought the invading Cainites who accompanied the Roman army, the Baali were
shocked to see Moloch fighting alongside him. The Blood-Oath between the two forced
Moloch onto the field of combat to protect his lover. The Baali saw both fall -- twined in
each other's arms -- and melt into the ground. The Romans, guided by their Ventrue and

Lasombra masters, salted the earth and performed rituals to prevent either Cainite from
ever rising again.

Following Carthage, the Brujah despised the Baali with special vigor. They say their
uncontrollable rage comes from the loss of their ideals, and the Baali are inclined to
agree. It is just that the Baali know that the Brujah lost their ideals, not when Carthage
fell, but rather when they prostituted their ethics for power and legend. Deep down, the
oldest Brujah know this. Such knowledge is a curse they will carry with them forever, and
a wound the Baali enjoy salting when they can.

Unbeknownst to most vampires alive in the modern day, you were one of those
who betrayed Carthage, along with the Toreador Helena. What you saw in Troiles
palace shocked you to your foundations. You suppressed your rage & left Carthage
for Rome. You provided information to Prince Camilla that substantially assisted
the Roman assault. Though you never precisely regretted leaving Troile & the city
to their well-deserved doom, you feel that getting the story off your chest may
ease your contemplation of the event.

Be soft-spoken but very faintly bitter. The Golconda lore that the others hoard, you
dispense like party favours to you, thats how it feels now. Dont bother warning
visitors of their peril. If theyre as foolish as you are they can just fall in the trap as
well. You want to keep things as muted as you are any plots you will attempt to
extinguish, except those against Cret, whom you almost hate. You will encourage
or aid any action against him.
