LIASEAL MATCH CAST JOINT COUPLER

The Liaseal Coupler is a duct-coupling device providing

leak tight prestressing duct connections across match-cast
joints between precast concrete segment joints.

The Liaseal ensures:

polyethylene precision molded components.

The waterproof properties of the Liaseal Coupler have been

qualified in compliance with the following regulations:

Both inserts are identical and fitted with female

cylindrically shaped sealing flanges.
A sealing element screws into one of the inserts and
mechanically engages into the second one.
The sealing element is fitted on both faces with a
spherically shaped male sealing flange.
When the sealing element is installed into the inserts, the
female and male flanges engage, achieving a watertight
connection.

The Liaseal Coupler ensures accurate positioning of the
duct elements in the formwork, resulting in reduced wobble
and in improved strand installation operations.

4. INSTALLATION
The duct end elements are fitted with Liaseal inserts:

The Liaseal Coupler is designed to connect standard

prestressing duct elements, made from steel corrugated
strip, but its use is especially recommended with
Freyssinets HDPE/PP prestressing duct, called Plyduct, to
achieve a leak tight and continuous plastic duct surrounding
the tendon. The leak tightness between the insert and the
duct is achieved by means of a heat-shrinkable sleeve.

LIASEAL MATCH CAST JOINT COUPLER

After installation of mandrels in the ducts (optional), concrete

pouring and cure, the formwork bulkhead is opened and the
match and as-cast segments are separated, the Liaseal Couplers
automatically disengage. The sealing element is unscrewed and
the segment sent to the storage yard.
At the erection site, the sealing elements are screwed into the
inserts on one segment face. After epoxy application, the
segments are connected, and the Liaseal automatically engaged.
Final Layout

Then one end of the new duct element is placed inside the
insert of the previous segment.

At the other end of the duct element, the insert is maintained

firmly on a guide tube fixed to the formwork panel.
