Memory ballooning mechanism: - It is active when memory scarce,
forces Vms to use their own paging area. VMware tools start an App
called as Balloon drivers and that memory is given to the needed
Vm.
Memory compression: -Esx compresses pages in Ram only. Memory
compression is another technique that the VMkernel uses to reclaim
host physical memory. This technique attempts to reclaim some
memory by compressing pages.

memory to disk. This is used when other techniques are temporarily
unable to reclaim memory quickly enough to satisfy current system
demand.
