In my wallet, I have, amongst my

license and money (which includes
American dollars, twenty Shekels,
and six BALA (Bnei Akiva LA)
bucks), about five folded up papers,
one of which is called Im Only
Onx Pxrson in thx Group. On this
page, typed up in courier font from
presumably a typewriter, a young
man describes the troubles he has
with his typewriter.
Xvxn though my typxwritxr is
an old modxl, the poem begins, it
works quitx wxll xxcxpt for onx of
the kxysIt is trux thxrx arx fortysix keys that function wxll xnough,
but just onx kxy not working
propxrly makxs the dixrxncx.
In this weeks parshah, Parshat
Teruma, the donations of the Jews
to the Mishkan is discussed.
However, Rashi in the second
pasuk (25:2) describes the sockets of
the beams. These copper sockets,
in comparison to all the other
vessels described in this weeks
parsha, were taken from the
mandatory tax that every Jewish
male, 20 and older, were required to
contribute. Interestingly enough, it
was these beams which acted as the
backbone as the entire Mishkan.
The Maharal explains that this
represents how we should view our
relationship with HaShem and how
we do Mitzvot. Even though our
ideology as Jews is that we should
strive to go above and beyond what
is mandatory, our foundation is
deep-rooted in what we, as a nation
as a whole, are obligated to do.

One of my favorite things about

Bnei Akiva is the fact that every
single person is important and
everyones voice is listened to.
Whether youre a Madrich
(counselor), Chanich (participant),
parent, or a passerby your voice is
heard and appreciated.
When working in a group, even
though the job is often for the
higher-ups to accomplish, that
doesnt mean the little guy should
be ignored. In fact, their word
should be taken as top priority! For,
what is team without its members?
Leaders can only lead if they have
people following them.
Even though it is incredible
when people exceed their
responsibilities, it is even more
important to do your assigned job.
Yes, the extra donations of Bnei
Yisrael went into building the
keilim, but there would be no
housing for that, or HaShem, if it
werent for the people.
So, nxxt timx you think you arx
only onx pxrson and say that your
xort is not nxxdxd, the poem
concludes, rxmxmbxr my
typxwritxr and say to yoursxlf, I
am a key person and nxxded vxry
much!
When it came to building the
Mishkan, every single item given
was crucial. But what brought
everything together was the fact
that every single Jew made an eort
to contribute in order to make a
personal connection with HaShem.

Song of the week: Vhaer

Explanation:

Light up our eyes with your Torah, and let

our hearts cling to your Mitzvot, and
unite our hearts to love and revere your
name, that we shall never depart from it.

The words and let our hearts

cling to your Mitzvot teach us that even though
sometimes its dicult to dedicate ourselves towards
serving HaShem, in our hearts we know it is right
and we push ourselves to follow in his waysthe
positives and not the negatives.

History: Shevat 26
In 2003, a space shuttle called Space
Shuttle Columbia broke up during reentry, which killed 7 crew members.
Among them was Ilan Ramon, the first
Israeli astronaut. Before the very
unfortunate and saddening destruction,
Ramon had with him a small Torah scroll
that survived Bergen-Belsen and a
mezuzah wrapped in barbed wire to
symbolize Nazi concentration camps, as
to honor his mother who survived
Auschwitz. During the 16 days space,
Ramon ate kosher food and made the
first ever Kiddush in space on Shabbat.
He also recited Shema Israel as he
passed over Yerushalayim.
