India - SriLanka ties
a remarkable milestones
Srilankan
president
Maithripala Srisenas maiden
visit to India first after assuming
office is a great breakthrough
and is very significant in
relationship. When Srisenas
party swept to power,
Rajapaksha seems tried to
dislodge him, India and USA
came to his rescue to make him
take over the saddle. It marks
an
end
of
Mahindra
Rajapakshas cold war with
India and many fronts.
While Rajapaksha took the
credit of ending the civil war
by defeating LTTE militarily, he
failed miserably on post war
reconciliation and rehabilitation
of Srilankan Tamils.
It earned the wrath of UN
Human Rights convention
assembled at Geneva asking
Srilanka to try the war crimes
and pressurized to offer Tamils
in the island equal rights by
implementing
the
13 th
amendment.
Now, with the leadership
change, both the countries can
adopt a positive fresh approach
and direction in bilateral ties.
The signing of Civil Nuclear
cooperative Agreement (C N A)
is Srilankas first nuclear
agreement with any other
country which is laudable. It is
a clear demonstration of mutual
faith, trust and cooperation.
They also agreed to expand
defence
and
strategic
cooperation along with India
and Maldives.
The civil nuclear agreement
would facilitate nuclear
cooperation, transfer and
exchange of knowledge,
sharing of resources and
training of personnel in the
peaceful usage of nuclear
energy. Both the Governments
also inked three important pacts
on agricultural cooperation, a
memorandum of understanding
of Nalanda University and an
agreement
on
cultural
cooperation. Agreement has
also been reached between the
two countries for resumption
of more air and ship traffic
services which really boost the
link between the people and
tourism.
With regard to the burning
issue of fishermen which is
hanging fire for decades, it has
been decided that the
associations of both countries
should start meaningful

S.GANAPATHY

dialogue since it genuinely

affects the livelihood of
people of both countries. They
agreed to find for a constructive
and humanitarian approach.
With respect to devolution of
powers to the northern and
eastern provinces, all aspects of
bilateral importance were
discussed threadbare for a
quick solution, since India
assured all sorts of assistance.
The security concern with
the docking of Chinese
submarines in the Colombo
harbour were discussed. Prime
Minister Modis statesmanship
in extending invitation
immediately to Srisena after
assuming power to visit India
since India has a huge influence
in Sri Lankas political,
economic,social and cultural
links.
Overall, it is a good augury
and a great success for India
to ink pact on Civil Nuclear
Cooperation since Colombo
was exploring an agreement
with Pakistan which is
detrimental to India.
The ensuing Indian Prime
Ministers visit in March is the
first one in the last quarter
century which is incredible.
It will definitely pave the
way to boost the ties of both
the countries to a great extent
to get further fillip and
consolidation.
It is the bounden duty of
New Delhi should address and
put pressure on the Sri Lankan
government to sort out the most
burning issue of ethnic
reconciliation and power
sharing with Tamils and
fishermen issue.
This will be central to
maintain new found confidence
and hope of a broken people for
the overall development of Sri
Lanka in all fields and to
maintain regional amity and
peaceful coexistence.

Laser Teeth Whitening

Our smile is the first thing
people notice about us. Would
you not want to have sparkling
white teeth in order to flash that
smile with more confidence?
We introduce the best and latest
method of teeth whitening by
means of LASER DENTISTRY.
After whitening toothpastes,
home-bleaching and in-office
bleaching techniques, laser
teeth whitening is considered to
be the most advanced method
of getting lighter shades of
teeth.
Whitening toothpastes
mostly remove stains and bring
back the actual colour of teeth
while home bleaching and in
office conventional bleaching
techniques require multiple
visits and long-term use for
clinically visible results. LASER
whitening provides both
effective and quicker results
than any other technique.
Why does discoloration of
teeth occur?
 With increasing age
lighter (whiter) coloured
enamel wear exposing the
yellowish dentin underneath
that. Also there are high
chances of gradual staining of
teeth due to the foods we eat
and drinkSmoking and other
tobacco habits Some people
naturally have a dull shade of
teethDeposits or tartar can
also affect the colour of teeth.
Disturbances in enamel
and dentin (inner side of
enamel) during tooth formation
can also lead to discoloured
teeth Excessive fluorides
from water and other sources

Dr Balagopal
cause tooth discoloration
varying from
white spots
or flakes to brown brittle tooth
surface Consumption of
drugs
like
tetracycline
(antibiotic), antihistamines and
drugs for high blood pressure,
iron and vitamin and mineral
supplements and many others
cause tooth discoloration
Damage to tooth from a fall
can cause discolouration of
tooth much later after the fall
Treatment
Options:
 Proper brushing twice daily
and regular flossingAvoiding
food and beverages which might
cause staining of teeth
Ultrasonic cleaningDental
veneers
H o m e
bleaching techniquesIn-office
bleaching techniquesTooth
coloured fillings LASER
whitening.
Of all these, LASER
whitening is considered to be
the latest and most effective
treatment option for many
discolorations. Treatment
options varies from one patient
to another depending on the
cause
and
extent
of
discoloration and therefore a
proper option has to be chosen
after consultation only.

Laser
Whitening:
Traditional teeth bleaching
techniques consume too much
time also cause lot more sideeffects to the gums. The latest
LASER
WHITENING
techniques overcome these and
provide the safest and
quickest teeth whitening.
Laser tooth whitening
involves mainly two steps; one
is cleaning the teeth in which
the plaque and germs present
in the teeth that have a major
effect in the whitening process
are removed. Next is the
application of a LASER
activated whitening gel. In fact,
the laser enhances and makes
the whole process faster so that
it produces results in a matter
of a few minutes. Often a single
visit will get the required result.
Sometimes more than one
session may be needed to
achieve satisfactory result in
extreme cases of tooth
discoloration.
Advantages of Laser
Bleaching :
Time saving ;
Extremely safe procedure;
Excellent outcome; Immediate
results; No needle anaesthesia
since it is a painless procedure;
No damage to tooth structure;
Acts even against tough deep
rooted stains; Chair side short
procedure unlike home
bleaching. Laser whitening can
be now done in our clinic with
utmost comfort to the patient
thereby making you more
confident to wear your smile.

PANRWAs met police & civic officials

Adelegation of Palaniappa Nagar Residents

Welfare Association met the Assistant
Commissioner, Zone 11, Valasaravakkam, Ward 149
last week and submitted a memorandum. The
association profusely thanked him for providing
good concrete roads, LED lightings etc , and thanked
all the staff members. They pointed out some
leftovers which they represented on earlier
occasions to rectify like sand filling in the rainwater
pits and proper lid covers some of which are either
broken or damaged at an early date. The association
also demanded good blue colour lamination boards
depicting the street names like provided in other
Nagars, provision of speed breakers at main roads
like Ganga Main Road and Brahmaputra Street etc.
(already provided at RK Salai model) to avoid
accidents caused by over speeding of motor cars
and bikes. They also requested to develop and
beautify the childrens park in the nagar which is in
an awful condition with all play instruments like
parks in the vicinity which is a long pending demand
by the association. The Assistant Commissioner
assured the delegation to do the needful in the
matter. The association assured him of all support
in his endeavours in developing the nagar. S.Ganapathy
