CHAINVEYER OVERHEAD CONVEYOR

Lauyans Overhead Conveyor Solutions offers the complete

Chainveyor line, including the Series 200, Series 300 and
Power & Free versions. Chainveyor offers an economical and
efficient overhead conveyor solution for a variety of material
handling requirements. For light to medium duty loads,
Chainveyor is a cost-effective alternative to heavier-duty
enclosed track or I-beam conveyors. A Chainveyor system
offers ease of installation, low maintenance and quick
shipment of stock components.

TOTAL ADAPTABILITY
Chainveyor is the most adaptable conveyor system on the
market. It maximizes available floor space while conforming
to structural contours. Once installed, Chainveyor systems
can easily be modified for additional workstations, relocated
equipment, increased building size, or other revisions in conveyor paths. Its design allows the use of smaller processing
equipment (tanks, freezers, ovens, etc.) and makes serving
hard-to-reach production equipment more practical.

INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY
Chainveyor is reliable and low maintenance. The simplicity
of the design with fewer moving conveyor parts means
minimal maintenance and virtually eliminates downtime.
The chain pitch offers more product hanging point options
that will maximize production. This reduces conveyor system
length and integrated equipment size.

IMPROVED PRODUCT QUALITY

Chainveyor improves product quality by keeping the physical
handling of the product to a minimum. Chainveyor moves
product anywhere, through processes of all types that may
otherwise require a multitude of individual handling by
personnel for each process.

solution to various finishing, production and distribution system material
handling requirements. For light to medium duty loads. Chainveyor Series
200 is an economical alternative (up to 25% savings) to heavier duty
enclosed track or I-beam conveyor that is overkill in some applications.

SERIES 200 FEATURES:

V
ariable Frequency Direct Drives for easy speed control and less
maintenance with fewer mechanical components.
Plated chain is available for harsh environments.
6 pendant centers for more hanging points.
60 pound per foot load capacity.
Stainless steel horizontal and vertical curves offer ultimate hardness
and resist corrosion.
Tight turn radius increases efficiency and saves floor space.
Fewer moving parts require less maintenance.
Modular design for ease of installation.

SERIES 200 DRIVE:

Simple and rugged, this variable frequency drive has no complicated, critical adjustments
or fast-wearing parts. Positive, direct contact between sprocket teeth and chain distributes
stresses over a maximum area to provide constant straight line pull. The entire unit
is mounted in any 3 8 straight run of track. In addition to the inline drive, 90 and
180 corner drives are available for applications not particularly suited for the inline
unit. This drive utilizes a state of the art AC frequency controller with motor and gear
reducer combination to provide maximum output speed range.

SERIES 200 DRIVE ADVANTAGES:

Easy speed change with push button control.
R
educes maintenance by eliminating many of the mechanical drive parts such
as variable pitch sheaves, V-Belts, and torque limiters. The VFD controller
electronically controls speed and limits output torque to preprogrammed levels.

SERIES 200 & 300 TAKE-UP:

All power conveyor systems require a take-up to remove slack chain

generated on the down-stream side of the drive and in linear expansion and contraction of the conveyor. It also compensates for a
slight elongation of the chain that occurs during normal wear. The
Chainveyor take-up comes assembled as a complete unit, requiring
no fabrication at the time of installation. Take-up units are available
spring-loaded, airscrew or counterweight operated. Standard radius
for Series 200 is 16 or 24 with spreads up to 120. Series 300
standard radius is 24 or 36 and
provides 36 of chain take-up with
spreads up to 120.

SERIES 200 & 300 POWER CURVES:

In Chainveyor systems, many combinations of curves may be

achieved by joining standard horizontal and vertical curves.
Series 200 Power curves are fabricated from 1.625 OD, T-304
stainless steel and Series 300 Power curves are fabricated from
2-3/8, T-304 stainless steel; both are designed to work-harden
through use. This eliminates the expense of heat treating and
straightening. Curves are accurately machined to align with
straight track sections and are squared at the point of tangency.
Series 200 standard radii are 16, 24 and 36 for horizontal
turns and 16 for vertical curves. Standard radii for Series 300
are 24, 36 and 48 for horizontal turns and 24 for
vertical curves. Stock curves are factory
cut to 15, 30, 45, 90, and 180 degree
segments for both horizontal turns and
vertical curves. Special curves are available
upon request to fit particular requirements
where a standard curve is not applicable.

SERIES 200 & 300 TRACK:

High quality 1 5/8 OD steel tubing is used for all Chainveyor Series 200
Power straight track sections, with 2 3/8 OD steel tubing used for all Series
300 Power straight track sections.. Ends are squared and deburred for
precise matching points. Standard factory finish is Blue Industrial Enamel.
Stock lengths are 10; weight is 2 pounds per foot for Series 200 track and
3.5 pounds per foot for Series 300 track. Stainless
steel track is also available for high
humidity / contamination applications.

Repeating Cycles

We incorporate a proven, step-by-step approach to planning and designing your

Chainveyor Power & Free system. This approach includes the following five steps:

Step 1. Determine the minimum and maximum size and weight of the loads
to be handled.

Step 2. Determine the types of functions to be accomplished with the system,

such as:

Storage and retrieval

Transfers
Merges
Gravity accumulation

Powered accumulation
Work stations
Manual or automatic feeding
Release or escapement, etc.

Functions in the system will determine the type of drive dogs to be used on the
power chain (e.g., powered accumulation required overriding-type drive dogs).

Step 3. Develop a sequence of operation and a flow chart of the system.

Step 4. Identify production rates and load size to determine conveyor speed
and carrier spacing. (Carrier spacing is equal to the drive dog centers
or spacing on the power chain.)

Step 5. Design carrier and determine clearances.

L
ow, medium, high or variable rate
production
Multi-station (switching) functions
Medium or large systems
Logic-controlled systems

Automatic Dispatching: Independently operating carriers make it

possible to dispatch loads to various destinations in a system.
Preset index devices automatically switch the carrier off at any
desired station, returning it to the same power line or to another
power line, to be transported to any other station in the system.
Selective Storage: Any number of storage lines may be provided
in a Chainveyor system, and parts may be stored with selectivity
as to type, size, color, etc. Loads in live storage are up and out
of the way, saving valuable floor space, yet may be released to a
power line at any time either automatically or manually.
Different Production Speeds: With Power & Free systems,
different speeds in production units per hour can be provided
at different areas as well as being able to provide spacing
variations between carriers for certain processes or operations.
In stop-and-go operations, loads may be diverted to a free line
or any number of free lines at any work station for processing
while the load is at a standstill; and after completion, the
carrier may re-enter the Power & Free system and automatically
move to the next station or operation.
Rework and Repair: If inspection reveals that a part requires
attention before subsequent assembly or between operations,
it is easily switched to an adjacent loop for rework or repair
without interrupting the main line production. After rework or
repair, the part can be re-routed back to the main line.

Re-Circulation: This feature makes it possible to shunt excess

materials into a recirculating circuit or standby storage lines
when necessary, and automatically release them back into
the main line as required. This is accomplished by the use of
line-full sensing devices which do not allow additional
carriers to enter the line once it is filled.
Repeating Cycles: A Power & Free system is especially
valuable in applications where certain routine steps must be
repeated in between major production operations. For those
types of applications, a Power & Free system can be installed
to repeat a single step or a complete production cycle or be
set to by-pass a particular operation or station.

SERIES 200 CASE STUDY:

LONG PART PARALLEL BANKING
Challenge: Parts must be aligned side by side in curing/
drying oven.
Solution: Lauyans & Company, Inc. designed and installed
a Series 200 Power and Free Chainveyor system for this
application. The power part of the system was utilized at
the loading stations, while the free section was installed
in the curing/drying oven, where the parts were required to
hang immobile for a specified time period. Each part was
too large to align in a straight system, so a side by side
track system was installed in the curing oven. This allowed
for more parts to cure in less space, thus saving
the customer valuable space as well
as costing less.
