Abstract: Road traffic safety is situation of optimal and normal traffic and the protection of participants and material goods in
traffic by eliminating possible sources of danger or a control in preset level. In modern conditions of living, traffic safety is one
of the most complex problems in society that affect numerous factors. In the structure of the traffic system (human-vehicleroad-environment), in criminological researches still predominate the subjective factor, ie drivers as active factors of various
states of threats, dangers and accidents (with grievous bodily harm, permanent disability, human casualties and large damages).
The paper first elaborates some traffic-safety indicators for the current situation and tendency in the traffic safety in the country,
and then, based on the analysis of some of the phenomenological and etiological characteristics of accidents (for the period
2008-2012) attempts to provide specific recommendations to the competent authorities and stakeholders in order to improve
and promote traffic safety on roads and especially in the local community.
