MASTERS WEEKEND MADRID & TOLEDO

7th- 11th May 2015
The Itinerary for the visit to Madrid and Toledo is now very much in place and the Master would like
to consolidate a definitive number intending to travel in order to reserve the correct number of
rooms at the Hotel. Could those who have expressed an interest and anyone who may wish to join
the tour please respond to me by the latest of 20th March 2015.
The tour has been organised in liaison with COAM (Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Madrid) a non
profit organisation dedicated to the promotion, dissemination and preservation of architecture and
related disciplines.
Accommodation will be the Hotel NH Alonso Martinez, a four star hotel in the centre of Madrid.
Prices are; - double rooms, 96.00 and single rooms, 90.00 including breakfast. A number of rooms
have been reserved for the event, but if anyone wishes to extend their stay either before or after,
could they please notify the Master as soon as possible. The rooms will be reserved through COAM
in individual names. Payment is required no later than four weeks prior to the trip so that the Master
may request the required sums in advance in which case your prompt action would be appreciated.
Alternatively individuals might be invoiced directly (tbc)
Prices for the weekend including hotel are 870 per person for single occupancy and 710 for
double occupancy. The following itinerary schedule indicates what is included in the cost;-

Free time to suit individual arrangements for flight times

This itinerary leaves some time for individual visits to
museums, shopping expeditions or extra visits to any
specific building e.g. the Four Towers (one by Foster and
Partners).
Please note that the Prado Museum is one of the few
museums open on a Monday.
For those who may wish to extend their trip the following
excursion has been suggested (indicative timescales):A visit to El Monasterio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial. It is a
UNESCO World Heritage Site and Spanish Property of
Cultural Interest. Please find link below for your review.

around 1 hour from Madrid centre to El Escorial by bus)
10:00 - 14:00. Visit to El Monasterio de San Lorenzo de El

guided tour would be preferable.
14:00 - 16:00. Lunch around El Escorial.
Suggested Restaurants: "El Charoles" and "La Horizontal".
They both offer an excellent local gastronomy.
16:00 - 17:00. El Escorial - Madrid centre by bus.
