Instructions for Installing Your

CAPE Demonstration Program

Thank you for your decision to take a close look at our Computer-Aided Protection
Engineering (CAPE) programs and to consider how they can help your company or
university. Although our installation program is intended to do all the work for you, these
instructions should be a useful reference whenever you aren't sure how to proceed.
Before Proceeding ...
This program may be labeled Demonstration but it is in fact a full-sized, full-featured
copy of the CAPE software. It will work with any CAPE database. We have supplied an
example database in the file cape.gdb; that database is required to run the Getting
Started Exercises in the next section. If you like what you see and would like to work with
your own network data, give us a call. We have utility programs to translate many of the
data formats in use today. We will be happy to convert yours and send your database back
via e-mail or on a CD.
Use of the CAPE Demonstration version is limited to a 60-day period. When you have
completed your evaluation, you should uninstall CAPE and related files as described on the
next page.
To run CAPE, your PC must have:

the Windows 2000 or XP operating system with Internet Explorer

Version 5.0 or above.

a CD-ROM drive or access to one over a network;

128 Mb RAM or above (512 Mb preferred), approximately 150 Mb free

hard disk space for the CAPE and InterBase DBMS server files, and 120
Mb of hard disk space available to the operating system for virtual
memory;

a color display set for 256 or more colors, 1024x768 or higher resolution,
and Small Fonts. (Large Fonts can be used but will cause many forms
in the Database Editor to appear oversize.)

Help: If you have any questions or run into problems during installation, call us toll-free at
888-240-4044 (U.S.) or 734-761-8612 (outside U.S.), send us a fax at 734-761-8078, or send
us e-mail at eii@electrocon.com.
