Macquarie Telecoms Mobile Working Policy recognises the importance of flexible work arrangements
and, in some cases, use of devices of choice in delivering improved business and employee
performance.
Employees have the flexibility to work from an alternate office location and/or use devices of choice
on an interim or planned basis if the following criteria are met:
Work can be completed efficiently and productively,
Macquarie Telecom network and data security is not compromised; and
Customer service delivery is maintained.

Employees become eligible to work remotely or use a device of choice on receipt of a signed
acceptance of the Mobile Working Policy.
Definitions, Terms and Conditions
MOBILE WORKING is a flexible working arrangement where the employee works for part of the time
from an alternate office location. This could be at home, a hot desk, another Macquarie Telecom
location, a mobile office, customer site or a combination of these.
Macquarie Telecom offers two types of mobile working arrangements interim and planned.
Device of choice is a device which is not a company issued mobile phone or laptop for example an
iPhone or other portable tablet device.
Interim Mobile Working arrangements exist on a casual or ad-hoc basis as agreed verbally with
your immediate Manager.
An interim mobile arrangement may be used, for example, when an employee needs to combine a
full days work with family care responsibilities such as being at home to care for a dependant who is
recovering from a short-term illness and who does not require constant attention.
An Interim Mobile working arrangement does NOT require completion of a Home Office Safety
Inspection Report if working from home. However, we recommend that employees conduct a selfassessment to check for any relevant workplace hazards (please refer to the Home Office Safety
Inspection Report as a guide).
Planned Mobile Working arrangements exist where there is an ongoing requirement to work away
from your designated office. Approval is obtained in writing from your immediate Manager in
consultation with the relevant Group Executive and Human Resources Business Partner.
A planned mobile working arrangement may be used, for example, when an employee works out-ofoffice one or two days a week on an ongoing basis. The days of work may be fixed or may vary from
week to week depending on the business needs.
A Planned Mobile Working arrangement DOES require the completion of a Home Office Safety
Inspection Report if working from home. This Inspection Report can be completed as a selfassessment by the employee but should be reviewed by your Manager. From time to time an
Inspection Report may need to be completed on-site by a trained Manager or suitably qualified
person (e.g. OHS Consultant or Human Resources Business Partner).

By using a device of choice, you agree to the conditions of use as outlined in the IT Security Policy.
Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
Macquarie Telecom is responsible for the health, safety and welfare of the employee at their
workplace, including a mobile working location. All OHS standards that apply at the usual workplace,
will as far as practicable, apply during a mobile working arrangement. Mobile workers are covered by
workers compensation for any work-related injury.
Expenses Associated with Mobile Working
Expenses associated with Mobile Working fall into two categories based on who initiated the Mobile
Working request, the employee or the Manager (i.e. the business).
Manager or business initiated requests allow the employee to claim reasonable expenses
associated with setting up a remote office (eg. required equipment will be assessed on a case-bycase basis to satisfy workplace health and safety standards); and
Employee initiated requests will require the employee to cover all expenses associated with setting
up a remote office and satisfying workplace health and safety standards.
Employee Acceptance
I have read and understood this Policy and accept the terms and conditions related to a mobile
working arrangement in accordance with Macquarie Telecom Mobile Working Policy.
