Message for the month of Gemini

The month of Gemini carries the impact of the twins. The Cosmic
Male and Female principles are the twins from whom the Creation
manifests. It is for this reason spiritual astrology says that Gemini is the
beginning of and the basis for the Creation. The one Absolute God
who is beyond comprehension when manifests, the male and female
principles emerge at the same time. That is the reason why they are
called twins. Such was the original understanding by the Vedic Hindus
who depict Artha Nari, half male and half female God. Such was also
the understanding of the Greeks, who uphold the symbol of Adonai
and also that of the Hebrews who speak of the male-female God. The
female descending from the rib of the male does not fit-in from this
standpoint.
The male-female are equals. Together they constitute God in
Creation. When male domination prevails over humanity, God is
referred to as H E. God is H E and SHE as well. One does not exist
without the other. The state of Gemini is the most sublime state of
Yoga. In that state matter and spirit are in absolute agreement; male
and female energies are in total balance.
Only for minds understanding it divides the male from female.
But in truth they are indivisible ones. In man there is woman and in
MY LIGHT | Vol 4: Issue 5

woman there is man. In matter there is spirit in a subtle form and in

spirit there is matter in a subtle form.
True Yoga upholds this truth and accordingly imparts knowledge
to balance the matter and spirit in every unit of existence. In that state
it is all Light. It is the Kingdom of God that is frequently referred to,
where the male and female exist together in friendliness.
Occultism is thus needed equally for males and females. Prohibition
of entry to females into occult activities is but ignorance. The Seven
Seers ever attend to the functions in Creation along with their female
energies. They stand a great example to the humanity.
May the transit Sun in Gemini help balancing Matter and
Spirit in us.

Lord Krishna
- Gita Upanishad Action - Inaction
There is action in inaction. There is inaction in action. Even the knowers
are confused by this. They get illusioned and thereby conditioned. There
are adepts who do not seem to be doing; yet they do a lot. There are
adepts who seem to be doing and yet they do not do. The former are
called Dhyanis (Dhyana yogis). The latter are called Karma yogis. The
former are in deep contemplation of the truth. The Will generated
from such contemplation works in global spheres. In recent times
Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Ramana Maharshi, Master CVV and Shirdi
Sai Baba are but a few examples of this category. They stayed in remote
corners of the globe for life and yet activated the humanity. They are
seemingly inactive but are active all over the globe. There is the other
category like Vivekananda, Satya Sai Baba and Master EK who are in
action and yet they did not act. They allowed Divine action to happen
through them. They were sitting comfortably in the heart lotus at the
Divine feet of the Lord.
The apparent doers are non-doers. The apparent non-doers are
the doers. An occult student needs to gain this dimension. The atom
is apparently in inertia. But inside the atom there is tremendous action.
Man as a doer and man as a being needs to be experienced. If he learns
to Be, he gets the ease to Do. If he learns only to Do, it leads to more
and more doing. To Be and to Do is Yoga. To Do seated in the being
is also Yoga. Such ones are not conditioned. Lord Krishna gives this
key to Arjuna and asks him to Be, so that the fight for Law will happen
through him.

Lord Maitreya

The Leadership Crisis

There were too many hopes and aspirations about the new age, the
Aquarian age. Innumerable efforts are being made to usher in the new
life. Man is trying to adopt or adjust to the changing world. Yet the
new age is not yet. The new life is not yet.
Wars are being conducted for peace! In the name of freedom
subjugation and suppression of the weak by the strong is continuing.
The dirty hunger for power and money is growing. The promoters of
peace are at unrest. Patience does not seem to be anymore a civilised
quality.
It reminds us of a familiar situation, which repeats itself in history.
The Gospel is in the hands of the devil. Devil quotes scriptures. Today,
leaders and governments that are impatient, restless and that are thirsty
for money and power are the advocates of peace, freedom and coexistence. Their efforts lead them to their nemesis. They cannot transmit
the energy of the Gospel since they do not carry it in their content.
They have no time to look into themselves. If they do, they die. This
is the crisis of leadership.

MY LIGHT | Vol 4: Issue 5

Master Morya
- Maruvu Maharshi Half-Heartedness
Half-heartedness is dangerous. The faith and the belief today are suffering
from this symptom. Half-cooked food cannot be eaten. Half way through
the forest you are in the hands of ferocious animals. Half way through sea
travel sinks you to the bottom of the ocean.
Changing decisions half way through, leads man to the dead-end.
One should know that the decision one makes is a commitment. This
commitment is totally lacking for want of patience in many of the aspirants.
They are neither useful to themselves nor to others. They are neither in this
world or the other. They remain useless day dreamers who confuse others
with their half knowledge.
In ancient times, people demonstrated commitment even if it was
fatal to them. Commitment was seen more valuable than life. Changing
sides and changing values according to convenience is a cheap way of living,
which is considered as the principle of expediency. It is application of a right
principle in a wrong context.
Changing spouses after giving commitment has become normal in
the human society. It is fashion too. What is the guarantee that such persons
also do not change their ideologies and even their teachers? The teachers are
the committed ones. People have to learn the quality of commitment and
get out of the sickness of jettisoning the commitment for convenience. Look
into yourself, to your commitment and stand by it. I look for this quality in
you.

Master Koot Hoomi

- Devapi Maharshi Rare Experience
Discipleship is to become an instrument of God upon Earth. Once
one is Gods instrument, things happen through him. He remains a
witness to all that is happening while he is also the doer. It is the state
to experience and cannot be spoken of or communicated through the
language. It is the state of transcendental action. The individual-being
merges into the Divine and the Divine enters into the being and
conducts. For all worldly purposes the individual being seems to be in
the action, but it is the Divine.
The last three years of the life of Jesus is a demonstration of this.
The first 10 days of the war of Mahabharata was likewise witnessed by
the grand sire Bhishma. He saw the Lord functioning through Arjuna
and attracting the Souls into Him. Arjuna was not as much aware of what
was happening, as the grand sire and also as the Lord. The grand sire
was thrilled by the grand act of the Lord through His disciple. The
ability of the Lord to function through a Soul was amazing to him. The
beauty was he (the grand sire) could see it much better than the Soul
(Arjuna) through whom it was happening. Arjuna, being the son of mind,
was feeling that he was fighting the war. But the truth was, Arjuna was
just doing the labour, while Lord Krishna was absorbing the Souls into
Him liberating them from the envelopes of flesh and blood.
8

MY LIGHT | Vol 4: Issue 5

The grand sire saw the opportunity and sought to be liberated by

the Lord and submitted himself. Only the Lord and the grand sire
knew what they were doing. It was a state of ecstasy from the part of
the grand sire and of utmost compassion from the part of the Lord.
Such experiences are rare even to initiates.

Message of Master E.K.

Sistas
Those who worship the Divine, follow the Law and serve the saints
are protected. Protection does not mean that such ones do not face
conflicts and crises. They too experience conflicts and crises but they
will not get destroyed. In such crises they are insulated from such
destruction while others normally get destroyed. They are saved like
the good seeds that a farmer saves for the next cycle. All other seeds are
ignored. They are called Sistas, the good ones. The good seeds amidst
Atlanteans thus formed the nucleus for the Aryans. It is from these
seeds, roots emerged once again.
The new groups of world servers are expected to be the good
seeds for the future cycles. The responsibility for every group member
is to constitute oneself as a good seed for the future cycle.

Questions and Answers

Question: Dear Master, I have been meditating over years. I do not
feel any improvement in me, nor do I find any gleams of enlightenment.
How could it be so? I am only recollected of my personal problems in
my meditation.
Answer: Dear friend, meditation is a process of opening oneself. It is a
process of unwinding and unfolding. Just unfold yourself and open
up yourself. Let go all your thoughts and all your problems. Imagine
that your mind is opened like a lotus. As it opens wide, it releases all
that is held within. Let thoughts be released. Release them into the light of
the sky. Let them find their freedom into the sky. Keep the palms of your
hands open to the sky. If possible, you may also turn the soles of the feet
to the sky (Do not sprain them, if you cannot. Buddha does it.) The
idea is that mentally you have opened yourself to the limitless blue sky.
Let all which is in you by way of physic energy be released into the
expanse of the lighted sky. Empty out yourself. Feel yourself utterly
open. If you want, you can raise your palms up to the sky, like the
Sufis, but make sure that mentally you hold high your openness. Having
opened up and thrown out all that is within, offer your empty being to
the light of the sky and feel receptive of the unlimited sky into you. As
MY LIGHT | Vol 4: Issue 5

11

much as you offer to the sky, so much the sky enters into you. Give
away what you hold, to fill in the blue sky.
If you can do that, unlimited energy of love and light showers
into you. The shower is not as feeble as the bath-shower. It shall be a
waterfall.
Energy splashes you and the body sways. The body drinks and
soaks in the energy and sways (as if you were a bit drunk). Get into it.
Let the swing of the sway fill you. Allow it to fill you.
Try this technique of meditation. I wish you good luck.

Shirdi Sai Sayings

Illusions of the Cycles

Birth and death are events on the cyclical path. Birth leads to death.
Death leads to birth. One leads to the other and the other follows the
one.
Night and day are happenings on the cyclical path. The night
leads to the day and the day leads to the night. One leads to the other
and the other follows the one.
But the night and the day are true to the one who is on Earth. If
you lift up from the Earth, there is neither day nor night. Likewise the
death and the birth are true to the one who is earthy. If you lift up from
being earthy, there is neither birth nor death.
Overcome the illusion of the cyclical path and establish yourself
in the Self that conducts the cycles.

Sri Ramakrishna

Perfect Soul
A great raft of timber, floating down a stream, can carry a hundred men
on it, and still it does not sink, but a floating reed may sink with the
weight of a crow. So when a Saviour becomes incarnate, innumerable
are the men who find salvation by taking refuge in him.
A perfected soul, Siddha-purusha, is like an archaeologist who
discovers an ancient well covered with the soil and accumulation of
ages. The Incarnation or Avatara, on the other hand, is like a great
engineer who digs a new well in a place where there was none before.
Great men can lead to salvation only those who had already the springs
of piety and goodness in themselves, but the Saviour saves him also
whose heart is as dry as the desert and who is devoid of all love.

The Brick of the Temple - The Cube

Cube is the most symmetrical figure which is the unity of creation. It
has six sides, 12 edges, eight corners and 24 right angles. The six sides
are the six seasons of the year. The 12 edges are the 12 months.
The eight corners are the eight periods of 45 days (yamas). The
24 right angles are the 24 lunations of the year as also 24 hours of the
day. This is the brick of the temple of the year. Its course is not changed
whichever manner it is placed. This is because all its faces are equal.
Understand the correspondence of the seasons, of the yamas and also
of the lunations in relation to the year. You would have thereby
understood the symmetry of the year and all its faces. Cube is a good
representation of Gayatri. Let us, therefore, meditate upon the cube
starting with the month of Aries to enter into the mysteries of the New
Solar Year.

Meaning:
Oh! Lord of Fire! From you, the Wisdom of the Vedas is born. You
make the Goddess of Creation possess me, the Goddess who is an expression
of the Golden Yellow hue and who is herself an embodiment of the splendour
of Gold. She, who is adorned with jewels of Gold and Silver and who is of
the lunar nature may possess me as her own child.

Commentary:
In the first two hymns of the Suktam a prayer is made to the
Cosmic Fire. First, the hymn speaks of Jataveda. Jataveda means the
One from whom the Veda is born and it also means, the One who is
born out of the Veda. Who is Father and who is Son is a riddle. From
out of the existence, whom we call the Father, the Veda comes. From
MY LIGHT | Vol 4: Issue 5

19

out of the Veda, the Father comes again as the Son. That is why the
Son is considered as the repetition of the Father. The Son is no other
than the father represented. God is presented through the Son of God,
because H E cannot present himself for your perception. H E presents
himself through a Son of God.
The Cosmic Fire is said to be born out of the Veda and the Veda
itself is said to be born out of H IM. That is why H E is called in the Veda
as Agni. Agni means the foremost One. H E is the one without whom
nothing exists. If you take the number 1000000, how many zeros are
in it? It has 6 zeros. Suppose, from the 1000000, you remove the 1,
what is the value? There is only one number, which is important. If
that number 1 is removed, the rest is nothing! So, we are asking Agni,
the Most High, to bestow his light, the light of creation, upon us. We
pray.
Jataveda O Agni
Mamavaha bestow on us
Avaha You may please ensure that the light embraces me like a vampire,
i.e., even if I want to come out of it, I cannot. The word Avaha is such a
strong Invocation. You are asking the fire to bestow in such a manner that
it would never leave you. What are you asking for bestowing? It is
Hiranyavarnam! In each letter of the very word there is profound wisdom.
The normal understanding is gold. It is like asking the Fire God to give us
gold. The hymn also says: Please give us some cows and please give us
some horses. Few great scholars not knowing the etymological key of the
Veda went on commenting that these ancient Indians were all agrarians.
They were asking for cows, bulls, horses and they were materially inclined,
because they were asking for gold and silver. Just like we pray for bread,
they were praying for gold until Blavatsky came and blasted their
ignorance. From the hierarchical standpoint such scholars have done
great wrong to the Veda through ignorant interpretations.
20

MY LIGHT | Vol 4: Issue 5

Hiranya - Gold
Hiranya means gold in its superficial layer. It also means the
golden hue, which is the very basis of all material manifestation. Behind
your material body of flesh and blood, of bones and marrow there is the
golden body, which is called the subtle body, the etheric body. The goal
of every known Indian was to seek and work for the golden body to be
out of the menace of birth and death, to have continuity of consciousness
and to be in eternal joy of working with the grand plan. This is called
today in the wisdom books as The Third Initiation. In the book Autobiography of a Yogi, Master Yukteshwar explains to Yogananda
the world of golden hue which is immediately preceding the material
manifestation. This colour of golden hue very much relates to the
energy of Leo. The light of Leo is of golden hue. That is the reason why
the Hierarchy says that the future festival of humanity is Leo Full Moon.
Even some of the mountains, which we know as sacred, are resplendent
with golden hue-forms hidden within the rocks. In fact, all formations
hide the golden hue aspect. Some are more resplendent and hence,
they are called sacred. We are therefore recommended to meditate upon
the golden disc of the solar globe. This is what we do in the third prayer
of Ishavasya Upanishad. I recommend strongly to conduct the prayer
relating to Agni, regularly. In the first step there is the request to Agni
to destroy all our past Karma. Then in the second step we are asking for
withdrawal of excessive activity into objectivity, which would enable
us to experience the golden disc of the solar globe either in the heart
centre or in the brow centre. In the third step we are seeking the fire to
discover the disc of golden hue to experience the ultimate truth.
The prayer is made to the fire to bestow on us the perception and
the experience of Hiranyavarnam, the colour of the burning gold.
Burning gold is more resplendent than solidified gold.

Aganma Sarma Tevayam !
Agne Hiranya Sandrushaha !!
O! Lord Agni! Your effulgence shines forth like gold. You are the shining
one. Parched by life men take shelter under your shade, we seek your

Commentary:
This is a prayer seeking protection of the Lord of Fire. The fire
within and the fire around harms not a person, who regularly worships
the Lord of Fire. Fire accidents do not happen. The inner fire is well
maintained and restitutes health. When appropriately related to the
prana the Lord of Fire enables arousing of Kundalini and enables
realisation of the solar and cosmic fire.

Occult Meditations

Wheel of time rotates. Serpent of time unwinds. Wheel

is cut in the East. Wheel cut is serpent. Wheel cut has
head and tail. Serpent has head and tail. Time lived
as head and tail. Time before life is wheel. The wheel
rotates. The serpent creeps on.

Commentary:
In a previous meditation, it is said that time is rotation. The
globe rotates. Symbolically, rotation is presented as a circle. As the
globe rotates around itself, sunrisesunset is experienced. From sunrise
to sunrise one rotation of globe is counted. The sunrise happens in the
east. The counting is therefore done from sunrise to sunrise as one day
(one rotation). In a circle, every point is the beginning as well as its
end. Starting from a point the circle moves and concludes at the same
point. The circle of time is said to be a serpent whose head and tail
emerge from the same point. Esoterically, it is said that the serpents
tail is black to itself. It means that in the time cycle, the beginning
contains the end and every end gives rise to a beginning. From head to
tail and tail to head, the serpent moves on as a wheel. It is a circular
movement.
Wheel is cut in the east to recognise the rotation. But each time,
the cut in the east is in the higher ring of the circle because the globe
rotates, creating an apparent upward (northern) movement of the
24

MY LIGHT | Vol 4: Issue 5

Sun for six months (from the 22nd of December to the 21st of June)
and an apparent downward movement of the Sun for another six
months.
When the Suns apparent movement is from south to north, the
serpent unwinds. When it moves from north to south, it winds. Thus,
the serpent creeps on from above downwards and from below
upwards in one year.
As this wheel of time rotates upwards and downwards, seasons
happen: such as summer, winter, rainy season, etc. It contributes for
the generation of life. The promotion of life and its deterioration
happen through the circular movement of time with its upward and
downward movements causing unwinding and winding.
Life is not before time. Time is not before life. They emerge
at the same time. When they emerge, the wheel is cut into a span,
which is measured. Before time and life, it is existence in which
consciousness remains in a static state. As there is the spur of
consciousness, it unfolds into life pulsation and it carries a span of
time. The unfoldment of the wheel is due to the spur. The spur is an
impulse from within.
Ponder over the above and read the meditation again to find
the understanding. To recapitulate, the rotation of time is like a
wheel. It is called the serpent of time. The wheel of time unwinds
and winds as per the northern and southern coursing of the Sun. Though
the wheel has no head and tail, in order to count the rotation it is cut
in the east, which means counting from sunrise to sunrise. The wheelcut
created beginning and ending, mentioned as head and tail.

Childrens Section
The Doctrine of Ethics
The pest in cane sugar
destroys the sweetness.
The pest in the progeny
destroys the sweetness of life.
Dear Children,

Do you know that the male and female are but the twins of the
creation? Without the two there is no creation. They are the positive
and negative energies. Negative means, receptive. Positive means,
distributive. In each one of us there is the twin principle functioning.
We are receptive to certain things and distributive of certain things.
We receive knowledge and distribute it through our speech and action.
We receive thoughts and also transmit them through speech and thought.
We receive food and we expend the related energy. We receive air
through inhalation and release air through exhalation. All is received to
give. Receiving and giving are but two aspects of one life. Many people
believe more in receiving than in giving. Such ones suffer congestion.
To eliminate the congestion and constipation in life, one should be as
much giver as a receiver. If one only knows to receive and not to give
he tends to be negative. One who knows to give much more than what
he receives tends to be a noble person. All great ones in human history
have been great givers.
The month of Gemini teaches us to learn the art of receiving and
giving and stay balanced. The Sun receives life and light from higher
circles and gives such life and light to the solar system. He gives as
much as he receives and therefore shines forth as the brilliant one in the
solar system. Learn the two aspects of life and understand they are but
inhalation and exhalation of one breath. You may grow with this
balanced understanding to be the best instruments of life.

Book Review
Lessons on Purusha Suktham.
Purusha Suktam is a hymn of the Rig Veda that is offered
to the Cosmic Person as a worship Sukta. The Veda
recognises a Cosmic Man who was prepared and fixed
(crucified ) in the Mahat by the Devas and the whole
universe is visualised in him. The Cosmic Person is
described as having four hands which represent the fourfold
creation. Later when creation progressed, human form
was also prepared in the image and likeness of the Cosmic Person.
Master E.K. regularly chanted Purusha Sukta for decades and imparted
the Sukta to his followers. He instructed his followers to regularly chant
Purusha Sukta on a daily basis.

Paracelsus - Health and Healing

The culture of health and medicine changed slowly but substantially

over a few decades. It is now threatened with excessive commercial
climate, where social objectives, which are essentially noble are getting extinct. The fate of NHS hospitals in England amply indicate this. A noble
and monumental human activity, which is traditionally respected is at the
threshold of its extinction. Many recent changes, some are subtle, some
are obvious, have had significant impact on the practice of medicine. It is
getting less and less monumental. Education and medicine cannot be
entrusted into the private hands. It needs to be a state subject, and trust in
the state governance depends upon its ability to protect education and
health from any kind of commercial impact. Human development cannot
be boasted of by the humans of the scientific age when fundamental acts
of trust, such as policing, education, and health are given away into the
hands of commercialism.
The clinical examination, evaluation, and assessment, which is the
fundamental of medical profession is subcontracted in its entirety. Through
the technology this has brought about a change in the medical tradition.
A physician who is otherwise able to diagnose the sickness in the patients
relegates the effort to a machine and most of the diagnosis is through
technological tests. It is now widespread and is even indiscriminate. The
consequence is, the physician substantially relegates the faculty of clinical
28

MY LIGHT | Vol 4: Issue 5

judgement. A total reliance on technology also results in devaluation

of the clinical skills among the physicians. The younger generation of
doctors do not even seem to understand the importance of the role of
medical diagnosis and management.
It looks as if today we stand at a point, where we are not left with
any attractive option to this state of clinical examination. This change in
the culture of medicine appears to be very pervasive and irreversible. It
makes medicine slowly less of a vocation and more of a business enterprise.
Technology is no doubt important and there are certain situations to make
crucial diagnosis. They need to be used when sicknesses are too complicated,
which are incapable of diagnosis. A physician may resort to technological
cultures. Simply relying on machines could lead to a disaster to the most
noble human activity. With growing commercialism and temptations from
the surroundings including the clinical centres many physicians prescribe
technological tests inappropriately making the entire health care system
iniquitous.
The shift of culture from generalist to specialist is also resulting in
over-investigation, sometimes leading to abnormal judgements. Technology
and specialisation put together supported by capitalistic thought and the
related commercialism has brought about the concept of profit in service.
There are private hospitals, which grant out-of-pocket expenses, medical
tourism, performance incentives, which are transforming a noble social
activity into a business model. Health centres are getting transformed into
wealth centres.
In developing countries health education itself has become a
prohibitively costly proposition resulting in high cost investment into
education. The students who turn out to be doctors are eager to recoup
and recover their investments through commercial practice of medicine.
This change in culture needs to be arrested by the peers of health and
healing activity on the globe.

A Good Word
The Emperor
The beggar in you dies when you gain the Light of Awareness,
Consciousness.
The fully conscious one is an Emperor. He is a giver not a beggar.
Many times he may appear like a beggar but he truly is the wealthiest
one. What he can give cannot be given by the wealthy.

Vishnu Purana
Chapter V

The Work of Yagna

These four classes are to supplement each other in the work of
Yagna (which is to be worked out individually with a spirit of offering
of the total person). The Devas observe the beings, if they work with
a spirit of contribution and offering. If so, they maintain the poise of
the cycle of waters, cause rain and satisfy the beings by the plant life
they produce. Thus the Yagnas create fulfilment and satisfaction to
the beings. The Yagnas are the real cause of welfare and auspiciousness.
The human beings who are after their own work have evolved
these various types of Yagnas. Those whose behaviour is pure, who are
good and follow the good path, know what Yagnas are. Through
these Yagnas the human beings attain the life of heaven and salvation.
The human beings behave according to their own taste. When
their taste is according to Yagna, then they also know how to classify
themselves into the four classes of the society. Those who follow their
own path and do their own work, even without the concept of Yagna,
will be liberated from difficulties, as long as they do their work. They
are called the humans of the Sudra behaviour. Those who keep their
minds, hearts and behaviour pure from motive and those who do not
stop from doing their own work are always pure. They can remain
pure as long as they place their minds upon the Lord Hari (instead of

applying their mind to the work and its results they should apply it to
the Omnipresence of the Lord while they work). Their knowledge is
pure as anything and they see what we call Vishnu and what we know
as T HAT .
One who allows his mind to work upon time (incidents) will live
only as a part of Hari (broken consciousness). To relieve from such a state
Hari makes him fall into sin (living with consciousness broken to pieces).
This creates the seed of Adharma (deviation from the path). This causes
darkness (ignorance) from which glamour is formed (glamour is the quality
which makes us feel some things and persons and ideas more valuable
and more correct than others). Then, Oh Maitreya, the created beings
get attachment, etc. (attachment or attraction, hatred, glamour and
covetousness, growing sick for want of something of some person.
Indifference and jealousy are the six traits that stand in the way of happiness
of the human beings. Hence they are called the six enemies). For people
who have become prey to such disturbances there will be no immediate
fulfilment of actions (When action is to be followed, there is automatic
fulfilment. When desire is to be followed, then there is complication.
Fulfilment is possible only to an action and not to a desire. By action
we get the results. By desiring we do not get any results. By following
action in a desired direction there is complication).
