The initiative is a youth lead event that intends to drive the public to RE-think and RE-
live their existing habits. And it is not that difficult at all. There are already existing
means to do so with all the existing market products that are readily available. Youth
are the key drivers in this initiation to promote these lifestyle changes. This project set
the precedence of all future youth lead and environmental events that actively
engage and empowers youth on lifestyle change.
In 2009, RE-Live! saw together over 20,000 members of the public over the span of 3
days. The event also brought together about 300 youth from different Universities,
Polytechnics and Junior Colleges to conceptualize and execute the full project.
1.2. Theme
The above six areas cover almost every aspects of a person's daily life, especially the

Description:
The Synchronized Action served as the climax of the first day. During this segment,
volunteers will perform a series of actions in accordance with cues given by an
Emcee. These actions involved a total of 6 items which represented the components
of the overarching theme of sustainable living. It was our aim to covey to the public
the importance of sustainable living through these symbolic actions and show that
youths can take the lead in such a green movement.
The objectives of the Synchronized Action are to convey, through symbolic actions,
the importance of a sustainable lifestyle; to recognize youths as environmental
advocates and empower them to take the lead in the green movement
During the Synchronized Action, 6 different items were used to represent the 6
aspects of sustainable living. The items and their significance were as follows:
• Waste material – Reusable bags
All of the other items were packaged in a cloth bag made of recycled material.
This was sharply in contrast to the single-use plastic bags which were often used in
supermarket chains and convenience stores. The use of reusable bags displayed
one of many steps that the public can take to cut down on environmental
pollution and landfills.
• Water – NEWater
NEWater represented a successful attempt to conserve and reuse water by the
government of Singapore. In many other countries, similar processes are used
to purify water and cut down on wastage. This initiative was therefore apt to
represent the sustainable use of water, and can raise awareness as well as
inspire a concerted effort from the public.
• Shelter – Umbrellas
A small umbrella was provided to each participant. The simplicity of this shelter

complicated dwellings. Rather, small amounts of resources, when used
appropriately, can create a cost-effective shelter. An added benefit of using
umbrellas was that participants can take shelter in the event of wet weather.
• Food – Apple
Food was come in the form of a apple to showcase the most sustainable source
of food. Land that was used for breeding cattle and other livestock can be used
to support many times that amount of food in the form of wheat and vegetables.
This display encouraged the public to choose a diet that is more sustainable and
centered on vegetable consumption.
• Energy – Fan
Each participant was provided with a fan, which represented energy. And this
provided a live example of how energy alike can serve as a substitute for fossil
fuels and other non-renewable sources.

ECO Trail
The ECO Trail invited Vegetarian Society, Tzu Chi Foundation to set up booths at the
area with highest consumer traffic in front of the MRT station. The objective of ECO Trail
was to improve the understanding of Singaporeans of Volunteer Welfare
Organizations(VWOs) currently engaged in conservation efforts. These organizations
showcased their activities and the opportunities for volunteers to sign up for projects.
ECO Exhibition
Exhibitions that focused on six themes: water, waste, biodiversity, shelter, food and
energy were held. The ECO Exhibition adopted a more interactive approach. Mini-
activities and fun games were interwoven.
Two weeks before RE-Live! , two 2.5 hours volunteer training session were held in
Singapore Polytechnics and Raffles Junior College respectively. Over 200 Youth
volunteers were trained to engage the public meaningfully to share with them on how
they can each adopt a lifestyle that would make a difference not only to the
environment, but how it would also benefit them.
The exhibitions were broken down into six themes, namely water, waste, biodiversity,
shelter, food and energy. Exhibition panel and volunteer T-shirts were designed into six
different colors in order to capture the attention of the general public.
Description:
Palm Message is a platform for public to show their support for the
environment by placing their palm prints on a large sheet of canvas as well as write a
short message or sign off next to their print. Each print corresponded to a pledge on
the part of participants to this event. We received
100 over pledges over the 3 days.

Descriptions:
In the aim to engage the public to make out a key green message in a fun manner,
we had an aerial photography session at Padang. The Green Walk capitalized on
mass participation to get the message on environmental conservation across. It served
to attract the public's attention at the same time deliver the message about the
importance of a sustainable living lifestyle.
150 participants were gathered at Padang on 7th June 2009. The program started at
7.30 am and ended around 10.00 am. Participants are divided according to the
outline of the aerial photo model. Six different color T-shirt with the theme, water
waste, food, shelter, biodiversity and energy respectively were distributed to
differentiate the participants for better coordination. Apart from the operation team,
one cameraman, one journalist and three photographer were introduced onto the
picker for recording purpose.
Prior to the event day, an volunteer information packaged were sent to all the
registered participants. In addition, induction sessions were held in Raffles Junior
College and Singapore Polytechnics, conveying green message behind the aerial
photo shots.
Description:
Upon completing the Aerial photo, participants were encouraged to walk back to
Bugis Junction to participate in other ongoing events. The objective of Green Walk
was to promote the living of a sustainable lifestyle to stay healthy by walking.

4. Committee members may use a better communication channel to update
each other, such as google site, google calendar or professional project
management softwares in order to track the process of planning.
5. A proper team building and bonding needs to be exercised prior to
forming the committee.
6. Responsibilities and KPIs need to be set for each portfolio within the
committee and a tracking system to be set up for evaluating the job done.
7. A team of volunteer managers can be deployed to be in charge of the
training and administration of the volunteers. And proper planning on
volunteer engagement should be exercised so that the performance and
energy level of the volunteers would be further improved.
8. Sponsorship package needs to be send out at least 3 months before the
actual execution. A team of external liaison personnel can be deployed to
do the follow up.
