An overview of McDonald's
McDonald's is the leading global foodservice retailer with more than 30,000 local
restaurants serving 52 million people in more than 100 countries each day. More than
70% of McDonald's restaurants worldwide are owned and operated by independent
local men and women. Is one of the world's most well-known and valuable brands and
holds a leading share in the globally branded quick service restaurant segment of the
informal eating-out market in virtually every country in which they do business. Serves
the world some of its favorite foods - World Famous French Fries, Big Mac, Quarter
Pounder, Chicken McNuggets and Egg McMuffin. Their rich history began with their
founder, Ray Kroc. The strong foundation that he built continues today with McDonald's

What are the business aims and objectives for


McDonald's in the UK?
McDonald's has run its business in the UK since 1974 and
currently operates 1,200 restaurants across Britain and Ireland.
Above all, serving quality food that our customers can trust is McDonald's number one
priority. But McDonald's is about more than just the number of restaurants we operate.
It's about our suppliers, franchisees and employees working together. It's about the
investment we are making together in our restaurants and in our 91,500 employees. It's
about the skills and opportunities we offer and the ways in which we support our local
communities. We are a proud supporter of British agriculture. We source the majority of
our ingredients from around 17,500 British and Irish farms. We employ over 91,500
employees and invest 43 million every year on training and development. We offer our
people clear career progression; in fact 9 out of 10 restaurant managers and 1 in 5
franchisees started as crew. More than 65% of our restaurants in the UK are owned and
operated by local businessmen and women. Our restaurants are very much part of the
local community we lead and support a range of community activities from litter
picking patrols to charity events and local football matches. In fact, we have a long
tradition of supporting community football; for over 10 years we have supported

volunteers for local clubs.
