Whats New in the CTA Software Version 4.40?

1.1

Support of additional metering CT classes 2.4 and 4.8 following IEEE standard
The new CT Analyzer software version enables testing of the additional metering classes 2.4 and 4.8
according to the IEEE standard C57.13.
The new classes can be selected in the user interface (GUI) on the CT-Object card. Once the standard
IEEE C57.13 is selected and the CT type is defined as metering CT, the new classes can be selected from
the pre-configured menu.

These metering classes are not defined in the standard IEEE C57.13 itself but required in some cases
according to that standard.

1.2

Support of additional different protection classes following IEC Standard

The protection classes 2P/2PR, 3P/3PR, 4P/4PR, 6P/6PR are supported within the Standard Package and
Advanced Package in the new CT Analyzer software.
The classes can be selected in the pre-configured menu when the standards IEC 60044-1 or IEC 61869-2
are selected.

1.3

Testing and assessment with burdens up to 400 VA following IEEE standard

According to the IEEE standard C57.13 the additional burden B-16.0 with a power of 400 VA can be
selected for the test and the assessment of protection CTs. It is also possible to select the secondary
terminal voltage to be 1600 V which results in a nominal burden of 400 VA for Isn=5 A. It is following the
standard burden designation B-8.0 with a power of 200 VA.
The newly supported burden can be selected in the GUI on the CT-Object card once the standard IEEE
C57.13 and the type protection CT are selected. It can be found in the pre-configured menu at the
designation B-16. The burden of 400 VA is automatically written to the desired field in the CT-Object card.
This is independent of the CT class.

1.4

Testing and assessment with burdens below 1 VA

With the new CTA software version it is possible to enable burden values below 1 VA for testing and
assessment. This feature can be enabled or disabled in the GUI in the Setting Menu selecting Rated Burden
Constraints.

When the new feature is enabled, it is possible to enter a burden value below 1 VA on the CT-Object card.
This is independent of the selected standard. The values below 1 VA are also added in the ratio table.

In addition, the new feature enables the assessment (100 % to 25 %) of CTs below 1 VA if for example the
value of 25 % of the rated burden is lower than 1 VA.

1.5

Additional polarity information for remanence measurements

The remanence of the CT is calculated and displayed with information about the polarity. It indicates whether
the cores have had a positive or a negative remanence.
After the measurement, the remanence is displayed on the Res. Magnetism Card in the GUI.

1.6

Additional assessment of the peak value of alternating error component ( ) for

TPZ cores
According to the IEC standards 60044-6 and 61869-2 the peak value of the alternating error component for
TPZ cores can be assessed with the new software.
