One strand of A and 2 of B are held

tog for entire hat and scarf.
Scarf is worked across the width;
long strands are left at either end
to form the fringe.

With 3 strands of yarn held tog, cast

on 50 (55, 60) sts.
Join without twisting, place
marker between between first and
last st.
Knit 10 rnds.
Work 12 rnds of Texture Time pat.
Work even in St st until hat
measures 51/2 (6, 61/2) inches.

Rnd 1: *K3, k2tog; rep from *

around. (40, 44, 48 sts)

Rnd 3: *K2, k2tog; rep from *

end of row. Slide sts to opposite

Leaving a 10-inch tail at beg and

end of each row, and sliding sts to
opposite end of needle before beg
each new row, continue in pat for
17 more rows (3 reps of pat).
Bind off loosely.

Finishing

Make an overhand knot with

tails, using 6 strands of yarn for
eachknot.
Trim fringe evenly.
