History
A famous quote from Nobel Prize winner physicist Richard Feynman in 1959 -Theres Plenty of
Room at the bottom- spark the hideous potential of infinite horizon of science in the twenty first
century. At that time, Feynman was considered as the pioneer to the concept of micromachines.
His idea prove the advancement of technology at micro scale and the evolution of science in
micro environment.
The idea has inspired Japanese scientist Norio Taniguchi to make breakthrough in a tiny world
science which latter comes with the idea of Nanotechnology through his experiment about
semiconductor processes such as thin film deposition and ion beam milling exhibiting
characteristic control on the order of a nanometer .
In 1995, Choi founded th term nanofluid through his preparation of nanofluid in Argonne
Laboratory (USA). After such a profound landmark of nanoscience, the craze about nanofluid
research prolong to such a hype that in year. According to the report up to 2011, there are about
700 research papers where the term nanofluid was used by which showing a breakneck growth
from 2006 (175) and 2001(10) ( R Taylor, 2013).
Preparation of nanofluids
Preparation of nanofluids is the first foot-step to the experimental studies of nanofluids. There
are two primary methods to prepare nanofluids: the single-step preparation process and the twostep preparation process
Single-step preparation process
The single-step preparation process indicates the synthesis of nanofluids in one-step. One of the
example of single-step methods is direct evaporation method. This technique developed by
Eastment known as VEROS (Vacuum Evaporation onto a Running Oil Substrate).
But it was difficult to separate nanoparticles form fluids, in which Cu vapor is directly condensed
into nanoparticles by contact with flowing low-vapor-pressure ethylene glycol. Zhu et al.[4]
Corrosion
Corrosion is defined as the deterioration of a substance or its properties due
to reaction between the substance and its environment. (Menon et al 2011).
If metal for example aluminum sheet is expose to the environment, then
corrosion will occur.
Experimental
Normally to see the effect of corrosion, researcher always perform the
corrosion test with acid and base for corrosion studies. Acids like HCL,
H2SO4, H3PO3 of different concentraton as well as different base like NaOH,
KOH, and NH4OH ( Athar M et al 2002).
Given that the environment plays an important part in corrosion, corrosion
mechanisms can be as varied as the environments to which a substance is
exposed
