Param eter explanations

Param eter explanations

unit type
The ty pe of the computer unit in which y ou want to conf igure the IP address.
The program prov ides a list of computer units to choose f rom. This parameter is obligatory .
unit group
The unit group number of the computer unit in which y ou want to conf igure the IP address.
The maximum v alue of the parameter is determined by the number of computer unit groups or stages. This parameter is asked only when it is needed,
but in that case it is obligatory .
unit index
The index of the computer unit in which y ou want to conf igure the IP address. This parameter can be omitted if a logical IP address is conf igured to a 2N
unit.
The maximum v alue of this parameter is determined by the number of units.
plug-in unit type
The ty pe of the plug-in unit in which y ou want to conf igure the IP address.
The program prov ides a list of plug-in units to choose f rom.
plug-in unit index
The index of the plug-in unit in which y ou want to conf igure the IP address.
The program prov ides a list of indices to choose f rom.
interface name
The name of the network interf ace to which y ou want to conf igure the IP address.
The name is one of the interf aces listed in the interf ace guide. This parameter is obligatory .
redundant IP address interface name
The name of the backup network interf ace of a redundant IP address.
The name of the interf ace is of the same ty pe as the name of the f irst interf ace. This parameter is optional.

IP address
The IP address of the network interf ace.
The address is specif ied in conv entional dot notation: (#.#.#.#) f or IPv 4 or (#:#:#:#:#:#:#:#) f or IPv 6.
For IPv 4 the parameter v alue ranges f or each part of the address f rom 0 to 255, except f or the f irst and the last part where the range is f rom 1 to 255.
For IPv 6 the range is f rom 0 to FFFF, except f or the f irst and last part where the range is f rom 1 to FFFF.
Only one IP address can be giv en at a time.
netmask length
This parameter giv es the length of the numerical part of the IP address in bits.
The v alues range f rom 4 to 32 f or IPv 4 addresses and f rom 1 to 128 f or IPv 6 addresses.
The parameter can be giv en only if an IP address is giv en.
The def ault length of the netmask f or IPv 4 addresses is determined by the IP address: f or a class A address it is 8, f or a class B address it is 16, and
f or a class C address it is 24. For point-to-point links it is alway s 32.
Examples of the corresponding netmasks: 255.0.0.0, 255.255.0.0, and 255.255.255.0. For IPv 6 addresses the def ault pref ix length is 64.
IP address type
The logical or phy sical IP address f or the network interf ace.
L

Logical IP address
This address belongs to the specif ied interf ace of the specif ied f unctional unit. The logical IP address f ollows the activ e unit. The
logical IP address can be giv en to 2N and N+1 units.

Phy sical IP address

This address is assigned to the specif ied computer unit permanently .

IP address attributes
Virtual and/or Internal attribute of the IP address.
V

Virtual IP address
The v irtual IP address can be conf igured concurrently to network interf aces in dif f erent units.

Internal IP address
This address is an internal address.

Dy namic IP address f or DHCP client

ETPSIG-M IP address

ETPSIG-C IP address

destination IP address
This parameter can only be conf igured to a point-to-point interf ace. It is the remote address of the link.

Additional inform ation

Additional inform ation

To check the interf aces that hav e already been conf igured, use the QRIcommand.
A computer unit can contain one loopback network interf ace at most. The IP address of the loopback interf ace is alway s 127.0.0.1. For other interf ace
ty pes, IP addresses between 127.0.0.0 and 127.0.0.255 are not allowed.
Set the v irtual IP address netmask/pref ix length of the signalling unit (SIGU) to 32/128.
Y ou cannot giv e a network interf ace an IP address belonging to the 0.0.0.0/8 network. In addition, the subnetwork's broadcast addresses (those in which
all bits af ter the netmask are either one or zero) are f orbidden. For example, if the interf ace is in network 134.56.64.0/18, the addresses 134.56.64.0 and
134.56.127.255 are f orbidden. The program prev ents y ou f rom entering a f orbidden address.
