The purposeof this progran is to detectwear in


an NL ShafferRamBlowoutPrqrenterso that it
can be repairedbeforea BOPfailureoccursin a
drillingemergency.Thetest seguencewas plannedto
avoidrepetitionof work so that minimumtime is
requiredfor a thoroughtest program.

A. For Subsea BOP on Surfacg (postock):


Run this test series approximatelyevery three
monthsfor a BOP which is on the surface.
Normally it is more convenientto start with the
bottom rarns,completethe tests there, and then
more up to the next set of rams.
1. Performa visualinspectionper the procedure
in SectionVil.
2. While the doors are open. perform the
"OpeningHydraulicpressureTest,'
describedin SectionXl.
3. Performthe "Closing HydraulicpressureTest"
as described in SectionXl. This may be done
with the doors open or closed.
4. Fill the BOPwith water in preparationtor the
"Fiefd Weil Bore pressureTest." (Step 9
below.)
5. Fun a "Locking HydraulicpressureTest,'as
describedin SectionXll.
6. lf desired.run the optionat"Untocking
HydraulicPressureTest" as described
in SectionXlt.
7. Close the rarnswith iS00 psi hydraulicctosing
pressure.
8. Feducethe hydraulicclosingpressureto zero.
9. Run the "Field Well Bore PressureTest" as

not adequatelysupported.
