This project involved conversion of Oracle Finance in to SAP R/3 system for implementing and
Customization of SAP R/3 4.6c FI/CO. As a senior team member I was involved in
implementation and
customization of FI/CO Modules. In this project my responsibilities included:

Prepared and reviewed Business Process Procedures (BPPs) for GL, AR, AP, CO-CE
and
CO-CA.

In General Ledger (FI-GL) involved in Customization and Configuration of GL


Accounts,

Account groups, retained earnings account, tolerance groups, posted G/L Accounts document.

In Accounts Receivable (FI-AR) involved in Customization and Configuration of


Customer
Master records, interest on arrears, account balance calculation on account balances / line items,
foreign exchange calculations, automatic payment program, Dunning program, Special GL
transactions, credit management, deduction Management, actual postings and so on.

In Accounts Payable (FI-AP) involved in Customization and configuration of the Vendor


Master Records, designed balance confirmations, account statements, and other forms of reports
to
suit your requirements in business correspondence with vendors, assigned authorizations for

The Project involved customization of SAP R/3 4.6C and implementation across all enterprises in
US.
The application included SAP R/3 FI, CO, SD and MM Modules. I was involved in the
implementation of
FI/CO applications.
Responsibilities:

Developed Business Process Design Roadmap to establish strategic design


standardization
across implementation (with modules FI, MM, and SD).

Responsibilities included design, configuration, and testing in the areas of accounts


payable, general ledger, fixed assets, cost center planning, internal orders, business areas,
validation
rules, account determination, and foreign currency valuation, house banks, and payment program

Configured US company code and parallel currencies to support US Dollar.

Responsible for loads of fixed asset master records and fixed asset balances. Also
assisted
in loading of cost center plan data using upload designed for that purpose.

Performed end-user training on financial accounting functionality.

Provided solution to business area production issue involving intercompany balances


and
cash disbursements.

Worked with ABAP developers and business process owners to perform data cleansing
and
build cross-reference tables for vendor master load. Also worked with developer to design and
test a
SAPScript for local check printing using a MICR encoded font.

Did entire cycle of understanding structure and business processes of organization relating it with
standard processes of SAP R/3 3.1H, reorganized existing structure, processes and implemented

SAP R/3 System by way of configuration and customization. Mapped business processes to
SAP.
Configured and tested GL, AR, AP, C0-CA and CO-CE modules.
Other Responsibilities included:

Configured the provision for doubtful debts in FI-AR including the Special G/L for the
old line

Determined methods for calculating the provision for Bad Debts, Liquidated Damages,

Developed for Field Exits to stop payment of additional advances through special G/L

Configured the Dunning Procedure in the system and tested and released it for
transports.

Configured Interest on Arrears without G/L posting and with SAP-script formats for

the Customers of the interest chargeable on their overdue outstanding.

Some of the highlights of the issues resolved in the FI module are:

The Dunning Procedure for the entire company.

The Interest Calculation procedure on Open items of Accounts Receivables.

The Foreign Currency Valuation of Open Items and Account balances by configuring
the
valuation Procedure, the exchange gain and loss accounts for the exchange rate keys,
configuring the
valuation and the adjustment accounts for valuation loss and realization/translation gains and
losses
etc.

The Balance Confirmation Procedure for the Company as a whole in liaison with ABAP
development.

The configuration of Automatic Clearing of GR/IR procedure in FI-GL area


specification of
the selection fields which was not configured earlier.

The bill of exchange configuration and processing in FI-AR by configuring the


Reconciliation
accounts in the Special GL., bank charges accounts, bank sub accounts etc. The Configuration of
Adjustment and Target accounts for Sorting methods in FI-AR.

Accounting for taxes like Octroi (input taxes) at the sales condition type level.

Transactions like Excise Balance Transfer for Capital Goods, posting excise invoices,
tax
deducted at sources under the EWT module etc.
