Wellesleys Got Talent
On Saturday night, the eight finalists performed their
variety of talents to three special guest judges and an
enthralled audience. It was a wonderful evening
enjoyed by all. Ethan Becketts solo placed him third,
the vocal trio of Sonia Lai, Honor Whiteley and Silvia
Courage took second place with Somewhere Only We
Know by Keane, and the winner was Freddie Bond
with his crowd-pleasing, glow in the dark, freestyle
drum solo. Well done to all the competitors who
entered, to the finalists and to Miss Routledge and Mr
Collins for organising such an enjoyable event.
Thanet Music and Drama Festival
There were some impressive performances by
Wellesley pupils, including first place in category for
Silvia Courage, Flora Kelsey, Zuha Animashaun and
Amos Wollen. Full details will appear on the website
shortly.

Cross-Country
Congratulations to Ashton Gifford-Groves who came
4th out of 154 boys in an U9 Thanet Schools Cross-

Country race at Quex Park, Birchington on Saturday.

4L to Monkton Observatory
On Thursday this week, 4L will be visiting Monkton
Nature Reserve to look at the observatory. They will
find out how a telescope works and why the
observatory needs a revolving dome. They will also
learn about the relative distances of the planets in our
solar system, as there is a guided walk to scale set out
within the grounds of the nature reserve.
Lecture: Professor Sir Hew Strachan
On Thursday, we welcome Professor Sir Hew Strachan
to talk to the school about the First World War. Sir
Hew is a former governor and Old Welleslian. Schools
from all over Kent will be in attendance and parents
are most welcome. The lecture begins at 6.40pm in
the Old Hall.
Bandana Day
The children may wear Brain Tumour Trust bandanas
on Friday in memory of Silas Pullen. The school has
only ordered a limited supply for those children whose
parents are overseas and unable to order direct from
the charitys website. Although it is now too late to
order them direct, pupils can wear their own bandanas
to show their support and make a donation to the
charity.
Art Department Request
Block 4 pupils are creating artwork using recycled
materials. Miss Beaumont would be very grateful for
any unwanted brightly coloured plastic lids from food
packaging.
