1 - Recording and evaluating the network quality

With the liberalization of the power market in Europe the quality of the product power is becoming increasingly important. The fundamental criteria are the parameters, set by EN 50160. It will
become essential for every utility to continually document and monitor the quality of this product.
The LZQJ-XC as a multifunctional meter according to VDEW-specifications 2.1 fulfills the requirements for quality monitoring by implementing additional functions.

Evaluating the network quality with

EMH-COMBI-MASTER 2000

The LZQJ-XC is capable of recording measuring variables on the network quality. This
measured data is recorded in a user load profile. This profile is completely independent from
the load profile on the billing data with regards
to measuring varibales and the measuring period length.

With the help of the EMH-COMBI-MASTER

2000 which is the standard-software for the
LZQJ-XC, the measured data on the network
quality can be evaluated.
One possible way of doing this to read out the
user load profile. A tabular evaluation of this
can be accomplished from the graphical display:

The following measuring variables are

recorded for each phase:
- Average mains voltage Uaverage
- Minimum mains voltage Umin

It is also possible to evaluate the user load

profile by means of defined thresholds and
criteria:

- Maximum mains voltage Umax

- Average phase current Iaverage
- Maximum phase current Imax

- Total Harmonic Distorsion U THDU

Registration period is 10 min acc. to EN 50160

but can be adjusted to 1, 2, 5, 10, 15, 30 or
60 min. With default configuration, the memory
depth is approx. 32 days.

Visualizing the network quality

with the EMH-COMBI-MASTER 2000
In the graphic display of the
EMH-COMBI-MASTER 2000 the data
from the user load profile can be evaluated graphically:

Additionally, the meter can be read out

by a freely definable timeframe in order
to calculate averages of the harmonics.
It is possible to save these values in a
textfile.

- Asymmetric current
- Asymmetric voltage
(phase- and neutral-conductor
are interchanged)
- Manipulation attempt
This information is stored bit-encoded
in the installation check register
C.86.0(xxxxxxxx).
The installation check register, as well
as the current values, can be read out
via the display-list InFO-dAtA or via a
standard table.
If the installation of the LZQJ-XC was
faulty the display shows an additional
cursor (INST).

For a clear representation of the

measuring variables each channel can
be selected for display separately:

4 - User log books

The user log books can be configured to meet customer requirements.
For example it contains events such as:
3 - Installation check
If equipped with the option installation check the EMH-COMBI-MASTER
2000 can check a meter for correct connection after it has been installed.
The graphical installation display shows
the current status of the mains. In a table the current values for P1, P2 and P3
as well as the sum of all phase-values
are displayed.

The EMH-COMBI-MASTER 2000 can

visualize the current harmonics as a
diagram and display them as a table,
separated by voltage and current. In
both, the harmonics can be compared
to the values defined by EN 50160 as
far as these are applicable.

- Power failure phase 2

- Power failure phase 3
- Manipulation terminal cover
- Manipulation meter cover
- Negative rotating field
- Asymmetric voltage
All events are marked by a timestamp.
The user log books are read out by the
EMH-COMBI-MASTER 2000. The readout can be commented and saved as
table or textfile. Thus an import to Excel
for processing the data is easily possible.

2 - Evaluating the harmonics

Superimposing the mains frequency
with harmonic waves causes distortions in the electrical supply networks.
Most of these distortions, especially in
industrial networks, are caused by oddorder harmonics, since these distort the
signal symmetry. This can lead to short
term malfunctioning of protective equipment (relays, m.c.b., earth-leakage
circuit breakers, fuses). Medium- and
long-term consequences can be overheating of electrical devices, their early
ageing as well as higher load on conductors and the neutral conductor.

- Power failure phase 1

Installation check register

With the help of the installation check
register it is possible to display failure in
the installation and to export the readout table.
The following parameters can be
recorded:
- Over-/Undervoltage
- Overcurrent
- Negative energy direction
(wrong direction of the current)
- Wrong phase sequence
