A Devotional
Day 1
Scripture:
1 Corinthians 16:14
Verse:
Let all that you do be done with love.
Reflection:
For me, this verse gives emphasis on the virtue of charity. Charity is an attitude of man
who loves God and his neighbors without expecting in return. You are willing to help anybody in
need without other agenda in your mind. You just help him because you believe its the right
thing to do and taking advantage on his situation will not glorify your Father. Moreover, this
verse is also applicable to people who are working something especially the students. As a
college student, there are a lot of times when I was given tasks that Im not fond of. Its a great
challenge to me, isnt it? Doing something which I hate is like jumping over the cliff or is like
hanging on the glass window. Somehow, right there I felt the urge to make those but I just didnt
make them because I lack the best ingredient of making them successful. Yes, I lack the passion
towards my given tasks and no matter what Ill do theres no turning back but to accept the
reality. So I started to do some brainstorming on the reasons why they were given to me and after
some time, I accepted them without any hesitations. Because of love, I made them with flying
colors and its very satisfying. At present when Ill be given tasks, Ill accept them heartily for
theyll serve as my foundations towards learning.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, the giver of life, the
creator of all these things I humbly ask
forgiveness
Oh God for my shortcomings in deed, in
words and in thought.
Father God, I glorify your name for keeping
me alive and safe until this moment.

Lord, bless me Oh God to be a strong future

educator.
Lord, help me to love all my responsibilities
as a future molder of youths minds.
And if there are times when Ill hate my
job, Father please touch my heart and
remind me the essence of love.
All these I pray, in Jesus name, my Lord and
Savior, AMEN.

Day 2
Scripture:
1 John 3:18
Verse:
My little children let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
Reflection:
This verse focuses on the importance of truth and action in our life. When you love your
family, parents, neighbors and our God, we should not limit ourselves in words but we should
show it to them. They will never know your sincerity if just more on words but less in action. It
is just the same when you are courting with a girl. Do you think the girl will believe you if you
just keep on saying I Love You but you never shown her how much you love her? Maybe,
shell think youre just playing at her and that makes her afraid to risk her Yes to an uncertain
guy. John wants us to think beyond what love literally means. Its not all about the feeling,
crushes or emotions but love is an action to be acted upon. He wants to assure us the true
meaning of love that without action, it is untrue. The truth and actions show the true essence of
love.
As an education student, I should not boast that I love my future profession or that I am
competent but instead I should work harder to accomplish things. Why keep on bragging the
knowledge I already know where it shouldnt be done at the first place. Remember, actions speak
louder than words.
One more thing, if you love your fellowmen show it by helping the needy especially the
beggars and handicaps. Dont help others because its a must but help them because you loved
them. Helping without love is useless and it wont glorify our Father.
Prayer:
Our Father in heaven
I glorify Your name, oh Lord
For keeping me safe and for another day
added to my life.
Father, I humbly ask forgiveness for all my
trespasses. Lord, please shower me Your
everlasting love and protection.
Help me Lord to be a good Christian.

Father, let this verse be a reminder to me

every day of my existence.
Help me to show my love towards my
fellowmen especially the needy.
Bless me oh Lord with sympathy and
empathy.
All these I pray, in Jesus name, AMEN.

Day 3
Scripture:
Colossians 3:23
Verse:
And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to the men.
Reflection:
This verse is quite similar with the other one used in our first day. What differ is, in here,
were doing something out of our love to our God and not to please other men. Doing something
just for public accounts doesnt make sense at all. Moreover, we are focused towards our
relationship with God- honoring Him and helping others follows.
If we try to examine the verse, we might think we need to work this to meet Gods needs.
However; God doesnt have needs, right? So this verse wants us to do something heartily in
order to receive Gods reward which is everlasting joy and honor. We glorify also His name
through obedience and it humbles our heart about God giving us something we need.
As a student, I wont bother to cheat to have high scores to impress my teacher and
classmates but instead Ill do my best to honor Him through studying my lessons and
surrendering myself to Him. Ill lay down myself to ask His wisdom and knowledge so that I can
comprehend the questions. Whatever may the result, Im sure it is very satisfying because Im
helping myself to be an effective student at the same time I honored Him.
Prayer:

Heavenly Father, my strength, the creator of

this universe,
I humbly ask forgiveness for my
shortcomings in thought, in deed and in
words.
Lord, thank you for the love, care and
protection.
Father God, my final examinations
will be next week and I humbly ask your
wisdom, knowledge and peace of mind as
Ill study my notes in ten subjects.
Father, please bless the education students
for the incoming examinations. May they

glorify your name as theyll answer their

questionnaires.
Lord, hope theyll remain true to themselves
during the said examinations.
Shower us your undying support, oh God as
take the test.
May your Holy Spirit be with us for the
whole duration of time, oh Lord.
All these things, I ask and pray, in Jesus
name, our Lord and Savior,
AMEN.

Day 4
Scripture:
Galatians 6:7
Verse:
Do not be deceived; God is not mocked: for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
Reflection:
This verse focuses on the means and extremes of man and the cause and effect of his
actions. Whatever a man sows, he will also reap follows the universal law of kind reproduces
kind; wicked reproduces wicked. This means that what I plant is the same thing Ill harvest. I
cant have carrots from bananas, right? Of course, they are not of the same kind.
As a student, if I just take the opportunities for granted, I should not be surprised of
having a low grade. The seeds of laziness and carelessness produce only one kind of fruit- bad
result! Just like what Newton said, In every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction,
however in this case the reaction is actually equal and aligned to your action.
Another thing, this verse can also identify the character or personality of man. By just
looking at his product, we can actually deduce his personality if hes bad or good. Why? Because
a good tree never produces bad fruit, same thing goes with the other. Furthermore, whatever
youve sown expect that youll reap more than that. Unfortunately, no matter how you try to
conceal them, they will surface.
Prayer:
The most gracious and heavenly Father, I
offer you my life oh God.
Lord as I reflect this verse on me, I am
greatly affected.
Thank you, Father God for reminding me
this great word
by not doing hasty decisions because
everything will reflect back at me.
Father, Im sorry for being a disgraced to
my family.
I know Lord God I committed a mortal sin
and

I cant do anything but to ask your Holy

forgiveness.
Lord God, please help to escape from this
nightmare.
Lord, I am now starting to reap the product
of my wrong doings.
Please oh God shower me strengths to
surpass this trial and hold me Lord so that I
will not fall again.
Almighty Father, all this I pray through
Christ, my Lord, AMEN.

Day 5
Scripture:
Psalms 37:4
Verse:
Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Reflection:
For me, this verse simplifies how God can grant the desires of the Christians. Take a
good look at this phrase, delight yourself in the Lord. When we say delight it means to live a
life of ease or pleasure; however in the phrase earlier, it means we should seek our happiness in
God in his being, his perfections, his love and his protection. Next, examine this phrase, He
shall give you the desires of your heart. What does it mean? Well, the desires here literally
mean the wants, the asking or the requests of our hearts.
Our desires will be only granted if and only if we found our happiness in Him just like
what has stated at Matthew 6:33 Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all
these things shall be added unto you.
So in this verse, Psalms 37:4, the Lord promised us to grant our desires and that is, (1)
since we love Him, we ask only those things in accordance to His will; and (2) since He found us
happy and content, He comply our request.
Prayer:
Almighty Father, the most loving father
I thank you for being here with me all the
time.
Thank you, Father God for giving me water
to drink,
A comfortable place to stay,
a happy family, supportive parents and food
to eat.
Father, I am truly sorry for doing things not
according to Your will.
Im sorry Lord God for being so weak.
Father God, bless me oh God.

Help me oh God to find contentment in you.

Lord, shower me more blessings
especially those people who really in need.
Make me a channel of your goodness and
kindness, oh God.
Lord, I believe in you, I believe your words
I surrender my life to you.
You know my heart and my mind, please
bless me Oh lord.
All these I pray through Christ, our Lord
AMEN.
