A. Background of the Study
It is said that electronics gadgets modifies the world. It is now the most acquired by many. This
will show the true power of electronically gadgets. We group of researchers wants to prove that it
can also help in the field of studies, we came up with this topic because we see that students are
dependent to their gadgets, we want to show the effectiveness and efficiency of its work when it
comes to students, and to clarify the real implications to college folks. Electronic gadgets are
the instruments which can perform many activities at a time with vast speed & makes the hard
work efficient one. Some of them are in following figure, there are many Electronic gadgets,
which we are using in day days life such as computer, T.V., mobile, I-pod, pen drive, etc.
available easily. These instruments helps us by making easy paper work, entertaining, for
communication etc. But not to limit only this, these instruments are proved useful in almost
every industry. Electronic gadgets operate many machines, ships, aero planes, and industrial
activities. Also they are used to identify conditions for the performance of any works. (Agrawal,

According to Cynthia Roberson (n.d.), teaching and learning nowadays is really difficult for both
teachers and students. Teachers expect more to their students and students also expects more to
learn from their teachers, but with gadgets or electronic devices in the system of education, it is
not that difficult anymore for both teachers and students, and with the help of this, it satisfies the
growing list of technology standards and mostly prepare students for the life beyond K-12
classroom.
More and more schools are moving to another level of teachings in the classroom by the use of
electronic devices and this is an advantage because of the fact that it offers portability and ease of
use on a budget. Gadgets that can read e-Books are becoming the tools of choice for todays

Nowadays in the 21st Century, the effect of gadgets or electronic devices to us people are really
surprising. It affects us in many ways, through entertainment, communication, and even chores.
But there is also one thing that gadgets have a big impact on, and that is to the system of
education. In the system of education, we people commonly just think about books we are using,
notebooks that we use to write on, and boards that teachers use for lectures, but with the help of
technology, there are electronic devices that can help us in our studies, examples are computers
for alternative sources, projectors for presentation, e-Books, and even mobile devices for
communication. These instruments are proven to be helpful to the fact that it changes so many
lifestyle for us people, it changes not for the worse, but for the best.
B. Setting of the Problem

The research took place in National University academic year 2013-2014, located at 551 M.F.
Jhocson Street, Sampaloc, Manila, 2600 Manila, Philippines. National University was founded
on August 01, 1900 by Don Mariano Fortunato Jhocson and was hailed to be the first ever
private non-sectarian school in the Philippines. Henry Sy, Sr., one of the great business tycoons
and contributors here in the Philippines (SM Group of companies) bought sixty (60) percent of
National University and promises to make it as one of the top Universities in Philippines by
helping to strengthen the institution as Higher Institution with new infrastructures, improved and
upgraded laboratory, and focused in academic excellence.
C. Significance of the Study
Freshman students of Engineering: By reading this research paper, they can have an idea of what
kind of gadget that can help them in their studies and they can use these gadgets effectively for
their studies. Also they can notice the things that are not really necessary for their studies that
make them distracted and use only their gadgets for entertainment.
Professors/Teachers: Professors and teachers can also benefit from this study because they can
use these gadgets for their teachings; example is when they know that they got no more time for
the next lesson, they can just simply make a presentation so that the lesson can be done quicker.
Another thing is they can also use this for organizing their files, lesson plans, schedules, and
many more for the benefit of time consumed.
Gadget Builders: Once they know how effective the gadgets that they are building, they can
improve these by adding more features that can help the people in what they do, most especially
to the students, and once they have done that, students will know about it and buy some more of
their products.
D. Statement of the Problem
This study aims to answer the following questions:
1. What gadgets do engineering students have nowadays?
2. Which of these gadgets they use the most?
3. How can these gadgets help in their studies?

Effects of Gadgets to the Academic Performance Among Students of Tupi National

High School

The gadgets are very useful, they help us connect to each other, they make us learn new things
and discover new things. The reason why computer technologies are invented is to help make
peoples life easier and to improve their way of life, especially the students. Modern computer
technologies make studying easier and fun to the students. As long as students dont become
fanatics when it comes to gadgets, we dont think that they could have a bad influence or a bad
effect on students. The gadgets make our life better in many ways. Lets take for example the cell
phone, many of you are lost without it and when it comes to students this device is more than
just a cell phone, is a chat opportunity, an Internet connection, a camera and more. Because
mobile phones have today a lot of features and they are not just devices made for communication
between people.
A negative effect of these gadgets on students can be the fact that they can become obsessive and
the students can neglect everything else, like their social life, their family and friends. Is not a
bad thing to have a computer, but is a bad thing to spend all your life in front of it pretending that
everything else doesnt exist. Otherwise, most gadgets have positive effects because they enable
us to do things faster and easier and they are also good when it comes to learning new things and,
lets face it, they make our life a lot easier.
There is some list of the essential gadgets for students we have:
A laptop with the fast wireless internet connection enables the students to do their projects even
if they are in a coffee bar, in a park or on the road. The best thing about laptops is the fact that
they are portable and easy to carry. A desktop is also good, but they couldnt bring it with them to
class. The next essential gadget is an iPod. This is a must have in a life of a student, because they
can store all their music, pod-cats, videos and more. It is also a good companion on the road or
everywhere else, if they get bored. A cell phone, because it lets you keep it touch with your
family and friends. It doesnt matter if it is an iPhone or other mobile phone.
See gadgets add fun in our life. We all remain busy throughout the day and without enough
entertainment, it is like something is missing. Gadgets thereby help you rejuvenate yourself and
get rid of your monotony but remember all of this fun has a bad effect in our lives as long as you
are not addicted to it and limit your time in using gadgets it would be better.
