1) Coursework 1 (Project assignment (group) 50 marks)
2) Coursework 2 (Project assignment presentation 40 marks)
3) Coursework 3 (Continuous assessment 10 marks)
Total
= 100 marks
Note: Coursework, which total to 100 marks, will comprise 60% of the total assessment
mark for the course, i.e., the final examination (to be held at the end of the
semester) will make up the 40%.

Coursework 1: Project Assignment (group)


1.)

Project: Produce a Business Plan of an organisation.

2.)

Students will work in teams of 4 persons or less per group.

3.)

Each group of student is required to select OR form an organisation which shall be


of ONE of the following sectors/industries:
a.)

Food and beverage

b.)

Education

c.)

Computer/IT

d.)

Tourism

e.)

Clothing/Apparel

f.)

Consumer products

g.)

Finance

h.)

Trading or services

i.)

Others (subject to approval by tutor concerned)

Each group of student is required to base on the organisation chosen (as above) and
produce a Business Plan on a NEW product.
a.)

Hence, each group is required to register their selected organisation/industry


and their NEW product with the respective tutors. The approval of the
selection from the tutor concerned is based on first come first approve basis.
This is to avoid of same organisation or same product been studied.

b.)

Students are NOT allowed to produce their Business Plan without a proper
registered (approved) organisation.

The format of the written assignment should be of the following:


a.)

In Times New Roman font and of size 12, line spacing of 1.5 with the
normal page margin on A4 paper.

b.)

Page numbering shall be placed at center bottom of page and in sequence


starting from Table of Contents.

c.)

Securely bound as a formal document or project.

d.)

The assignment shall be submitted in hard and soft copy (DVD/CD).

The following items/pages shall be included in the document for submission (as
assessment criteria as listed in the Evaluation Form A):
a.)

Cover page shall carry the following particulars:


i.)

University College name & logo, Faculty name.

ii.)

Programme name, Course code and title.

iii.)

Assignment (project) title (product & organisation).

iv.)

Tutorial group no.

v.)

Group member list and ID.

vi.)

Tutor name.

vii.)

Completion/submission date.

b.)

Plagiarism statement which is duly signed by each student in the team.

c.)

Plagiarisms results/acknowledgement.

d.)

i.)

Plagiarism should NOT exceed 15% of the safeassign check in TAR


UCs CeL.

ii.)

Representation of another person's work as your own, without


acknowledgement of the source, for the purpose of satisfying formal
assessment requirements is considered plagiarism.

iii.)

Assignment which is found to be plagiarised will be given a 0 (zero)


marks.

Evaluation Forms A & B (as provided herewith) that are completed with the
required and relevant particulars.

e.)

List or table of contents.

a.)

The contents of the business plan. (Proper citation should be provided in the
body of the written assignment)

f.)

References, if any or relevant, should be shown in bibliography (in latest


Harvard referencing system refer to TAR UCs CeL).

g.)

Appendix, used to attach graphs, diagrams, figures, and other findings, is to


support the document/write up.

Length of project contents is of minimum 4000 words, but less than 5000 words.
However, completeness of write-up is a requirement.

Due date of submission of project assignment is on Week 5 during tutorial or as


mentioned by the tutor concerned with prior notice.
a.)

Students are to be reminded that marks will be deducted at the rate of 10%
per day for late submission.

Coursework 2: Project Assignment Presentation (Individual)

Presentation of the assignment or project will begin, after submission, during


tutorial or as decided and mentioned by the tutor concerned.
a.)

Sequence of the groups presenting will be arranged in random by the tutor


concerned.

b.)

Students are requested to be prepared and carry out the presentation as part
of the assignment. Students will be graded for teamwork, professionalism,
synergy, overall flow and organisation of the report.

c.)

Formal presentation manner is required. Hence, students are expected to be


in formal wear and perform in a professional manner.

Presentation of assignment:
a.)

Each team is strictly limited to 20 minutes of presentation. Marks will be


deducted for over or far below the time allocated.

a.)

Presentation using computer and projector are expected as these will affect
mark award on handling presentation aids.

b.)

Students are expected to be prepared for Q&A session during presentation.

4.)

Students are required to submit a copy of presentation material to tutor concerned


prior to their presentation.

5.)

The criteria on assessing the presentation are shown in the Evaluation Form B
attached herewith.

Coursework 3: Continuous Assessment (Individual)


1) Students are expected to participate actively during the tutorials.
Hence, students are expected to be prepared on tutorial questions
and related topics prior coming for tutorials.
2) This assessment shall commence on Week 1 until Week 6 or as tutor's
recommendation.
3) Participations assessment areas are as follows:
a) Be prepared to present answers on questions allocated or raised in
the class.
b) Prompt relevant questions to presenters on presentations and/or
participate in discussion.
c) Be responsive in discussion on questions or topics raised in the tutorial class.
d) Assessment Criteria as follows.
i) Mark range from 0 (no participation/no answer) to 10 (very active, wellprepared, excellent answer).
ii) For instance:
(1) 8-10 marks = excellent answer/presentation/discussion,
(2) 6-7 marks = good and satisfactory answer/presentation/discussion
(3) 4-5 marks = average/acceptable answer, presentation.
(4) 2-3 marks = poor and/or unsatisfactory answer, presentation
(5) 0-1 mark = not participating, no acceptable answer, dissatisfactory
iii) Answer shall be genuine and of own words/sentences as to be acceptable.
4) Tutor may have more than 1 round of assessment and the decision made shall be final.

Note:
All written reports will be returned to students for review only after presentation or in due
course.
