No Voice Unheard, No Right Ignored


This is a consultation for people with learning disabilities, autism
and mental health conditions about new laws or policies the
government could make happen
It wants to make better the rights and choices for people to live in
the community

Inclusion North will be organising something to help people with
learning disabilities get involved and have their say.
The deadline for giving your ideas on this is 29th May at 11.45 pm

Public Health Information

The Smear Test Film is a health education resource for women


eligible for cervical screening (smear tests) who have mild and
moderate learning disabilities.

It has been made by Public Health England in association with Jos


Cervical Cancer Trust.

User-Led Organisation funding 2015-2016


This is funding for user-led organisations to deliver or organise
training for people who employ their own care and support staff.

Pictures of Cats and other ways to health and


wellbeing: how do we support health and
wellbeing for people with learning disabilities?
This is an event to look at the changes that The Care Act 2014 will
bring to peoples health and wellbeing.

IHAL Health Events


Here are details of some of the work Improving Health and Lives
(IHAL) is doing
Cancer Screening
IHAL will be having an event to try to help more people with
learning disabilities get checked for cancer
This event will be in Leeds on 29th April.

CQC Inspection Reports


IHAL have published a new report which looks at how CQC
inspection reports meet the needs of people with learning
disabilities.

Guidance and Good Practice


They have also published guidance and good practice examples in
relation to the changes that were made to the annual health checks.
These are about the inclusion of young people with learning
disabilities aged 14 and over.

Information Request
IHAL are going to write a report about cancer screening services for
people with learning disabilities.
It will update their 2012 report which you can read here:

They want the report to share information, knowledge and best
practice so that services and care can improve.
The team would like to hear your stories about cancer checks.
They want to know what has gone well and what hasnt. They
would also like to know if you have any good resources to share.

Children and Young People Workshops


The Winterbourne View Joint Improvement Programme are running
some workshops about services for Children and Young People.
People are welcome from across the partnership including
commissioners from CCGs, CSUs and Local Authorities including
social care, education, transition, placement officers and people
with learning disabilities and families.
It is free to attend and the workshops take place from 9.30am
4.00pm

New Housing for People with Autism


Creative support has some new housing in Shipley for people with
Autism.
It has low arousal furnishings and self-contained furnished
bedrooms with bathrooms.
It is for people who want a two year contract so they can develop
their independent housing related skills before their move into
further independent living.

Womens Group
Womens Health Matters are running a womens group in Leeds. It
is for women with a learning disability to meet and chat in a safe
and friendly group.
The group will meet on Wednesdays from 11 til 1pm starting on
March 11th
