Dear Sir/Madam,

I am pleased to inform you that High Commission of India will be


organising the Festival of India in Malaysia 2015 from March 13 to end-June
2015. It will be the first Festival of its kind in Malaysia from India.

The Festival of India in Malaysia 2015 will cover all major cities of
Malaysia. An unprecedented 19 categories of events covering 50 locations
have been planned.

The Festival of India in Malaysia 2015 promises to be a veritable feast
of culture and art, including Dance Drama by the world renowned
Kalakshetra Academy of Chennai, Bharatnatyam byPadma Bhushan Alarmel
Valli, Folk Dances and Music from Punjab and Gujarat, Digital India : IT and
Space exhibition, photo exhibition of Chola Temples, photo exhibition
Chennai Nalla Chennai by SA Ramesh, Bollywood Over the Years
multimedia exhibition, India-Malaysia Links from the National Archives of
India, exhibition on Islamic Calligraphy, Tamil Literary Festival, Malayalam
Film Festival, Indian dance by Prathibha Prahlads Prasiddha Foundation,
Sarod and Bharatham by Padma Vibhushan Amjad Ali Khan and Shankar
Kandasamy, Make in India seminar, Food Festival and International Day of
Yoga.

One of the events, which will be held in conjunction with Festival of
India, is Tamil Literary Festival on April 3-5, 2015 in Kuala Lumpur. For the
first time, a Tamil Literary Festival is being held where six eminent Tamil
authors will participate from India. This is being organized by Sahitya
Academy. Malaysian Tamil Writers Association and several well-known
Malaysian Tamil authors will also be collaborating in this effort.

In connection with the Festival of India, High Commission of India has
also announced an Essay Competition for all Malaysian nationals less than 25
years of age as on December 31, 2014. The theme of the Essay is What
India means to me. This 1500-2000 words Essay can be written in Tamil or
Bahasa Malaysia and can be emailed or posted to me at my contact details
given above. Note circulated in the context of Essay is also enclosed.

6.
We will appreciate if you could circulate the enclosed note among
your students who would be interested to participate in the competition. We
will appreciate if you could widely circulate this note.

ESSAY COMPETITION
For the first time in Malaysia, High Commission of India is organising
the Festival of India from mid-March to June 2015. As part of this Festival,
High Commission of India, Kuala Lumpur will be conducting an Essay
Competition on India for Malaysian youth.

The theme of the Essay is What India means to me.


The Essay Competition is open to all Malaysian nationals up to 25
years of age, as on December 31, 2014.
The Essay can be written in Tamil or Bahasa Malaysia and should be
between 1500 to 2000 words.
Only one entry per person in either of the languages will be
entertained.
All interested to participate in the competitition may submit their Essay

including contact details and copy of proof of date of birth. Essays of
participants who do not provide their full contact details, including
phone number and proof of date of birth, will not be evaluated.
The Essay can be e-mailed (preferred) or sent by post.
Last date for submission of completed essay is March 16, 2015
(Monday).
Prizes will be given in each of the two languages for the best three
essays in both Tamil and Bahasa Malaysia.
The prizes will be distributed during the Tamil Literary Festival to be
held between April 3-5, 2015.
Decision of the judges will be final.
