Scope
This chapter gives the procedures to install for the first time (starting from a scratch
configuration) the FlexiPacket Microwave (made up of one FlexiPacket Hub
2200/1200 and one or more FlexiPacket Radios, connected to the FlexiPacket Hub).

PC requirements
Computer running a Windows XP operating system with:

Java (JRE) version 1.6 or higher installed on the computer
Active serial port (COM port)
1 x Ethernet cable (copper)

Serial the RJ-45 console cable (provided with the FlexiPacket Hub)
USB-serial adapter

We'll do the commissioning taking as example the 1+1 link reported in Fig. 2.
In the example, the A2200 HUB is used.

Install the LCT 3.2
Follow the instructions reported in Chapter in order to install the LCT 3.2.
The Installation procedure will install also the Filezilla FTP Server in your Computer

FlexiPacket Hub reset to the Default
Before starting the first installation procedure, reset the HUB to the default
configuration.
Connect the serial cable to your computer's serial (COM) port at one end, and to the
FlexiPacket Hub CONSOLE port at the other.

Define the following values for the serial connection:
Bits per second = 9600

Data bits = 8 (default)
Parity = None (default)
Stop bits = 1 (default)

Login to the FlexiPacket HUB typing:

In order to reset the hub to the default configuration, type the command shown in Fig.
7 and type y when required:

Starting the A2200 HUB First Time Installer
1) Log out from the A1200 CLI and Close the Hyper-terminal connection. Connect
the Ethernet cable to your computer Ethernet port at one end, and to the FlexiPacket
Hub MANAGEMENT port at the other as reported in Fig. 9

2) Assign to your computer the IP address 192.168.255.101 with Net Mask

255.255.255.0.
3) Verify that the installed FTP server is currently running on your computer.
4) Take note about the ODUs Frequency Range

6) Click OK to continue the installation.

The procedure (starting from the 4.5.0013) takes about 20 minutes

7) Towards the end of the installation, the application will pause and you will be
prompted to reconnect the Ethernet cable to a different port on the FlexiPacket Hub:

9) When the installation is over, close the application and disconnect the serial cable.

2) Set the Host IP address (PC IP) and the default IP HUB. Select First Installation,
insert the Passwords and click OK (Fig. 19).

4) Click Modify and enter the Hub IP address.

5) Wait until a Warning message will appear. Click OK

7) Start again the Commissioning Tool application. Remove the check mark on the
First Installation box and insert the passwords.

10) Click on Add and insert all the FlexiPacket Radios to be connected to the Hub as
shown in the next screen.

I/F1 has only 7 ports (because port #8 is only used as management).

Select the Port Mode (UNI or NNI). Typically the ports are set as NNI. Only the first
port to access the transport network must be set as UNI.
Select the Tagged Mng (Yes or No), if the Mode is UNI.

Insert the IP Address with the relevant NetMask and the Default Gateway (if any).
The IP Address of the FlexiPacket Radios must be in the same Subnetwork of the
FlexiPacket Hub.
To remove a row put a check mark on the Remove column and click on Apply.
11) Click on apply
12) Click on Start. When the Committing procedure is complete (green indications
on) click on Stop and on Close".
