A cricket ball is thrown at a speed of 28ms-1 in a direction 30 above the horizontal. Calculate
a) the maximum height b) the time taken by the ball to return to same level c) the horizontal range.

The driver of a three wheeler moving with a speed of 36kmph sees a child standing in the middle of
the road and brings his vehicle to rest in 4s. What is the average retarding force of the vehicle? The
mass of three wheeler is 400 kg and the mass of the driver is 65 kg.

Calculate the orbital velocity and period of revolution of an artificial satellite of earth, moving at an
altitude of 200 km. Given radius of earth is 6400 km, mass of the earth is 6 x 1024 kg and
G = 6.7x10-11 Nm2kg-2.

A metal rod of length 20cm and diameter 2cm is covered with a non conducting material. One of its
end is maintained at 100C while the other end is at ice at 0C. 25g of ice melts in 5 min. Calculate the
co-efficient of thermal conductivity of the metal. Given latent heat of fusion of ice is
3.33 x 105 J kg-1.

A particle is executing simple harmonic motion with a time period of 4s. If the amplitude of oscillation
is 5cm, calculate 1) displacement 2) velocity and 3) acceleration of the particle 1s after it starts
oscillating.
