1. TEST SET-UP / PREPARATION

1.1 Change water inside ultrasonic tank by:
1.1.1 Drain out water from ultrasonic tank.
1.1.2 Wipe the ultrasonic tank with IPA.
1.1.3 Fill-in the ultrasonic tank with DI water, 18.2 L volume.
1.2 Degas the water in ultrasonic tank by:
1.2.1 Pushing the switch behind the generator to "low" (degas mode).
1.2.2 Turning on the power to 100% of full power for 10 min.
1.2.3 Return the switch to "HI" (extraction mode) for LPC extraction.
1.3 Measure the Dissolved Oxigen (DO) level and temperature by placing the DO meter in a clean
beaker with supply water overflowing. The clean beaker is close to the outlet point of water tube.
The DO level must be in 40 + 2% at 25 + 5oC.
1.4 Set input power of the generator, 97watt for LPC extraction.
1.5 Measure the power delivered into water in 2000ml beaker by using Hydrophone. The hydrophone
measurement requirement is 2.900 + 0.2V AC. Refer appendix XXX for Hydrophone measurement
method.
1.6 Monitor / record the DO level and temperature of water, hydrophone measurement and DC light
value. These parameter and water level in tank must be maintained throughout analysis.
Note: DC light value should not exceed 0.5, perform sensor cleaning as per instruction from
manufacturer.
2. TEST PROCEDURE
2.1 Blank Determination
2.1.1 Fill 2000ml of DI water into beaker.
2.1.2 Place the beaker filled with extraction water into the ultrasonic bath.
2.1.3 Lower appropriate fishing line fixture into the beaker and ensure it is equal to the level used
in sample determination
2.1.4 Start the timer and sonicate for 2 minutes 2 seconds
2.1.5 After 2 minutes, turn off the ultrasonic power and lift the fishing line fixture. Take out the
beaker from ultrasonic tank and carefully transfer the beaker to the LPC stir base.
Place the sample capillary at the center of beaker.
2.1.6 Put the cleaned stir bar into the beaker by using magnetic stir bar retriever to pull and

move down slowly.

2.1.7 Turn the stir bar rate to 75-150 rpm and without creating large vortex for 1 minute before
sampling to allow constant mixing.
2.1.8 Then, perform Blank measurement during stirring and using parameter in appendix XXX.
2.1.9 If the particles count >20 particle/ml, clean the beaker and repeat steps 2.1.1 to 2.1.8.
2.1.10 If an acceptable blank cannot achieve within 2 hours, check the following: the beaker,
fishing line, filters on DI water source and HEPA filters of the laminar flow hood.
2.1.11 Remove the stir bar by using magnetic stir bar retriever to pull out and submerge it into
DI water.
2.1.12 Add the water, 40ml into the beaker for sample extraction.
2.2 Sample Determination
2.2.1 Place the beaker from section 2.2.12 in the ultrasonic tank.
2.2.2 Using clean forcep or tweezer (DI rinsed), place the sample on the fishing line fixture.
Do not touch the sample with anything unless using forcep or tweezer.
2.2.3 Lower the fishing line fixture into the beaker and ensure the sample is horizontally in the
center of the extraction beaker and the top of the sample is vertically approximately 1/2'' from
top surface of water.
Note: Ensure the entire sample is fully submerge into water and not touching the beaker.
2.2.4 Repeat step d to h in Section 1.
f) Calculate the result based on calculation given below.

METHOD

1.Measure and check water supply (DI water) :

a) Before testing, make sure to measure the DI water supply temperature at 25 5C and the Dissolved Oxygen level within 40 2
degassifier and Handy Polaris Oxyguard DO meter.
b) Put DO meter into the beaker and fill the DO water until overflow. Start timer to record the time taken to obtain 40 2% DO leve
( approximately 2 minutes). Record the time and use this time during sample extraction.
2.Conditioned the ultrasonic tank before use :

a) Fill Ultrasonic tank with volume of DO water according to volume of water extraction. Make sure water level in tank same as wate
b) DEGAS the water in ultrasonic tank by turning on the power to 100% of full power for 10 min.
3. Blank Determination
a) Set the ultrasonic power (2.900 0.2 V AC for 2L beaker/ 3.100 0.2 V AC) using a WD approved hydrophone.
b) Then place the beaker filled with extraction water into the ultrasonic bath.
c) Lower appropriate fishing line fixture into the beaker and ensure it is equal to the level used in sample determination
d) Start the timer and sonicate for 2 minutes 2 seconds
e) Transfer the beaker to the LPC stir base.
f) Put the stir bar into the beaker by using retriever to pull and move down slowly.
g) Turn the stir bar rate to 75-150rpm for 1 minute.
h) Place the sample capillary into the beaker at the center and measure the sample counts.

Note: DC light value should not exceed 0.5, discard the blank and perform sensor cleaning as per instruction from manufacturer.
4. Sample Determination

a) Turn on ultrasonic tank and set input power.

b) Place the beaker from section 1 in the ultrasonic bath
c) Place the part(s) on the fishing line fixture by using clean forceps or tweezers.

d) Lower the fishing line fixture into the beaker and ensure that the part is horizontally in the center of the extraction beaker and th
1/2'' from surface water.
e) Repeat step d to h in Section 1.
f) Calculate the result based on calculation given below.
