SESSION 1

MR.RAHUL WALIA (CHAIRMAN, CIPL)


SIR, talked to us on the topic of LEADERSHIP. One of the most enthusiastic speaker of the
session. He talked about his life and his journey, which we can say SUCCESS STORY OF A
LEADER. He simply said, each and every person is here on this earth is made for a specific
role , all of us have a leader beneath. Sirs success story was a complete eye opener for all of
us. Sir saw a dream he worked for it and earned it with his limited resources. Sirs short tale
on the greatness of ALEXANDER THE GREAT taught us if we earn something, we should
respect it and the most important quotation of his entire session was THERE IS NO FREE
LUNCH IN THE MARKET, that means if you want something run for it , do hard work ,
excel your skills , have faith in yourself , behave like a Legend , talk like an Orator and think
like a Leader.

MR.SHANTANU AHIR (PRODUCER, A.R. PRINTING & PACKAGING)


Sir gave a very delightful and heartfelt success story of himself. Sir pull out his success story
for us that taught us every person is a marketer and leader. An NSD graduate saw a dream of
making a film without capital, but the thing he had with him was his passion and his idea of
making a film on naxals . Sir, said to us that if you have passion for your dream and the power
of tough decision making you can reach heights. In Sirs words Life is a practical MBA ,
what you implement in your day to day activity here, reflects your achievements on the long
run. Your goals must be predetermined then only you can approach people with your work
to help you , to praise you and to stand by you.

SESSION 2
In this session we had 4 speakers namely vinay tiwari, harpreet Bhatia, viraj kalra and neeta balani.
All had created a mark in their respective fields and expressed their view on leadership and
enlightened us with their golden thoughts. All the four speakers mainly talked about following
points:
1. Leadership is about human beings
They said that if u have to be a leader the most important thing is how well you understand
human beings and lead them. This point gave us an insight of how leadership is not about
me but about us. Understand and respect everyone and you will be followed. Dont be a
forceful leader but be an elected one.

2. Attitude
A leader is not about aptitude but about attitude. Its how well he takes initiative, innovates
and gives credibility to its team. It made me think and comprehend that leadership is about
innovative initiatives and give measureable outcomes with due credibility to who all
contributed.

3. Diversity
A leader should never make a team with all the members same and equal in every aspect.
The team should be diverse with variable ability. This brought to our notice that a team
should be diverse as ones weakness would be compensated by other as it might be others
strength. The team would excel in its entire task as everyone is different and a team would
be able to look at every aspect of the problem before reaching its conclusion as everyone
would have a different perspective.

4. Silos

To be a leader you should be able to break through your silos and as well help other come
out of their silos and coordinate and work with each other. Cooperation and tolerance for
each other should be incorporated by the leader in the team.

5. Manager vs. leader


A notable difference between a manager and leader were brought to my notice. Now these
two words are used as synonyms but the following difference was understood by us. And we
hope to inculcate a good medley of all these and become a leader as well as a good manager.

SESSION-4
Speakers in this session opened our eyes with touch of their knowledge and experience. All the
speakers shared their personal life experiences to motivate us. There were speakers from different
industries and they briefed us how different industries work. They briefed us how learning is
important and it is essential for a person to become a good leader. They made us think for the
purpose we are doing mba and what we need to achieve from this program.We should correlate
education and learning and understand that what companies expect from management graduates?
Summer internship is a platform for us to understand how the organisation functions and whether
we can adjust to those conditions or not. We should look for a job that excites us to come to work
and we do not need a management degree to get a job but we have to deliver at the time of
interview. To become a leader we should have a long term vision and should translate it into
actionable areas and we should always put corrective and preventive action. The organisations seeks
MBA graduates who are industry ready. Company recruiters mainly emphasize on industry
experience and what we have learnt during summer training and they look for both quantity and
quality.Hiring prospects for interns in the industry is high so we must give our best shot during the
internship and and build as much network of contacts as we can during the internship programme.
We came to know that internsips could also lead to jobs. We should always keep on improving with
our communication skills and soft skills and keep ourselves updated with current industry news.We
should be characterized by creation of new ideas or things because if we keep on doing what we
have already done then we will never achieve something new. Innovation is extremely important
and it always comes from outside. Leaders are not born but are made because of the clarity of their
goal and they know that how things are to be done is important not what is to be done. A leader
always tries to rectify their mistakes instead of justifying it and they make sure that the same
mistakes are not repeated. To become a leader we should have a clear vision and should do things in
the best possible way. We should always listen from the eyes of the speaker and concentrate more
on practical knowledge than on theorotical knowledge. It depends on us whether we want to be an

asset or a liability for a company we would work in. It was a great overall experience listening to
the speakers in this session.

SESSION -5
AKASHAY MATHUR(VICE-PRESIDENT, TATA TELESERVICES)
Sir, talked to us on topic of INNOVATION IN THE CURRENT SCENARIO. Sir said the
companies who are working for the customers are surviving. Sir, gave example of NOKIA
which is nowhere in the current cell-phone market and the reason behind it is there rigid
behavior about their product that they are producing the best and incompetences in meeting
the customers need and want, survival is only possible if we work for the customer and with
the customer. Sir showed us some videos which were awesome. The most important part of
Sirs speech was he said IF YOU ARE INNOVATIVE, DONT KILL YOUR INNOVATION
BENEATH , SHOW YOUR TALENT TO PEOPLE , DONT BE SCARED, YOU ARE ON A
PODIUM TO PROVE YOUR COMPETENCIES, PROVE IT AND PLAY YOUR PART

SESSION-6
Guest speakers in this session shared their industry experience with us. They enlightened us
with various qualities and skills that are required in a leader.
The speakers were from various industries like electronics, healthcare etc and shared their various
industry experiences with us and also briefed us about what all is required in a good leader and how
can one become a good leader. Their journey and achievements really motivated us. Their briefing
helped us to give a clear picture of what we want to achieve in life and how we can achieve it.
Focus on youth was a part of their briefing and how youth can help change things for betterment of
society and organization. Just doing management course will not serve the purpose in fact learning
during the course of 2 years will help us to achieve what we want. Taking initiatives is very
important. Nothing can be achieved without taking initiatives. Every human being is a leader in
itself. There are certain qualities that are required to become a good leader. We just need to work on
ourselves to inculcate those qualities so that it helps us in becoming a effective and efficient leader.
Hard skills of an individual are important but soft skills are equally important.
All of their experiences, thoughts and views on effective leadership and motivation really helped to
know more about the leadership which is the most simpler as well as harder topic to speak. Their
journey of life really inspired us. It shows the way to hardwork to achieve success. They made us
aware of what is required. They enlightened with various things that we need to inculcate within
ourselves so that we becomes successful and reach closer to where we want to be in life.
