self-confidence of teenagers. The methodology used is experimental
method using weighted mean, standard deviation, and T-test. The
researchers expiremented on the effect of using pick-up lines to selfconfidence of teenagers. The researchers compared the before and after of

Introduction
Every individual has their own self-confidence. Some individuals
have a high self-confidence in which they can easily manage to talk or
communicate with people. And on the other hand, some individuals have
low self-confidence, and tend to be timid and shy.
Self-confidence is defined on how an individuals shows their own
abilities to others and how they are confidently communicate with them.
A person with high self-confidence have a positive outlook on his/her
abilities and never degrade nor doubted themselves in doing task that
are given to them. No matter what might people say to them, they never
let their guard off and continue with what they had started.
Pickup lines is use for conversation opener. It is a statement or
phrase to make your companion or group of friends laugh or to make
them feel comfortable or just to break the silence. Its the easiest way to
open a conversation and to start an interaction with people around you.
By using the Likert Scale, the respondents were given same ten
(10) questions before and after they presented their pick-up lines in front
of the class. There were four choices to these questions - strongly
disagree, disagree, agree and strongly agree.
In processing the gathered data, descriptive statistical tests were
implemented through manual manipulation. These tests were the
weighted average, simple standard deviation and t-test.
these students answered that they Disagree that they are confident
enough to perform publicly, about the skills and talents they use and
that they are confident enough to approach and start conversations to
people.
However, with exposure to pick-up lines recorded a weighted mean
of 2.66 and a standard deviation of 25.55, interpreted as Agree on SelfConfidence. The students who used pick-up lines Agree that pick-up lines
helped show their confidence to other people and the impact of the
audience raised their self-confidence.
After acquiring both data from each of the two groups the
researchers were able to get the computed-value of 1.43, which is less
than the p-value of 0.05 thus gave us the interpretation that it is not
significant. The researchers then provided the sufficient evidence to
accept the hypothesis.
It can be concluded that the effects of using pick-up lines to the
self-confidence of teenagers are not significant. It is assumed that there
are other factors that are affecting the self-confidence of the teenagers.
