This blue planet of the solar system has seen many disastrous events whose red
blooded images can be seen in the glorious book of history. Two deadly world wars
and the holocausts like Rwandan genocide in which 800,000 people were killed in
just 80 days. All that was accounted through the basic instinct of human in which
was accomplished with some tools i.e. arms.

As the evolution of the human occurred by the passage of time the acts of killing
increased , as the man became more civilized his cruelty increased and the lust of
power also. It’s not a human fault rather it is termed as instincts that can not be
accountable. Development causes birth of more development and this process goes
on and on. If the same concept applied to the modern nation state system , it won’t
be wrong because all the states have some instincts. Pages from the past shows
that whenever a nation develops its arsenals also develop and the reason for this
act can be of many types. For example, if a nation starts developing it creates a
threat to an already developed state, on the second stance if a nation moves
upwards on the graph of the development its military power raises so that it can use
it in the creation of balance of power or pay automatically driven threats to the
countries in its vicinity in order to pursue the national interest related with the
respective state.

Dating back in the 19th century before math of world war I , when Germany became
able to be counted on the scale of developed countries it posed a serious threat to
the colonial administrators like Britain and France. By acquiring some developments
Germany’s lust for more resources and territory enhanced that made the European
countries vulnerable to the war between that timed powers i.e. Triple Alliance and
triple entente. That culminated with outbreak of war which sooner became the
world war. Basically it’s root casues were of the same origin and it wont be wrong if
we trace them in the development of the country and its arsenals. Triple Alliance
acquired development and thought themselves to cope with the superpowers of the
triple entente on the basis of the possession of the technology and weapons that
made them equivalent variable in the warfare equation whose objective was to
enhance the territory and the resources for more development. There is a direct
relationship between development and armament because the more you develop
the more you need the power and the more you need the power the more you need
the ways for getting it and the way to acquire it is the development of tools that can
overcome and make you superior than your opponent.

Lethal weapons and their types changed by the passage of time, the superiority of
these lethal weapons changed from time to time, dating back to the stone age tools
of the offenders to the nuclear and biological weapons of mass destruction can be
easily related with the evolution of man form stone age to the silicon age or the
techno age of 21st century. Things are developed as weapons do, the degree of the
lethality also varied from time to time, being less lethal in ancient times as compare
to today’s hydrogen bomb. Questions also came in the mind when a mind tries to
analyze the need of these un human things and then the answers are also given in
the form of accomplishment of national interests, territorial sovereignty , and the
national security. Einstein once quoted that “ I had never given the E=mc² if the
consequences are like this”. USA exploded two atomic bombs and the president
Harry Trauman once quoted that the introduction of the United states after these
pearl harbor attacks will be the deciding factor of the fate of the world war II. Finally
Hiroshima and Nagasaki were destroyed and world war II ceased. This was the
advancement in the lethal weapon that made the deciding factor of the world war II.

The two terminologies i.e. lethallism and realism are inter related with each other in
the dictionary of the politics and the international relations, it can be justifiable that
the need of lethal weapons is not a bad thing on realistic grounds but things like UN
play their so called role to ban on any such production that causes serious threats
to human specie. In this regard the policeman also performs its work like Iraq’s
invasion to destroy the hidden biological weapons of mass destruction. However
there are other reasons also that can be defined for the iraq’s invasion but the sui
motto that was depicted behind the invasion was off destruction of lethal weapons.
President Harry Trauman had rightly said that the involvement of the USA in the
WWII will not only be the deciding factor of the War only but also it has got impact
on the after math of the war , however USA can avoid the nuclear attacks and can
easily account Japan with other means of answering but the usage of the atomic
bombs was a dual attack on Japan and others who will try to stand in front of USA
like Russia and Britain. The main ideology of attacking with nukes was not only to
suppress Japan, germany and others but also to realize the strength that being
possessed by the USA in order to influence the pressure on the states and for this
world war II was the right option to practice the Manhattan project successfully built
in 1935-36. This lethal attack that flourished a new era of arms race caused more
advancement in the development of more lethal weapons. Formation of Inter
Continental Ballistic Missiles ICBS’s and other lethal weapons made the things more
worse. This clearly depicts the advancement in the lethal weapons with the direct
influence of development of the nations like Americans and Russians. However the
production of lethal weapons laid USA to build some sort of weapons that were
fictitious and whose presence was only possible in the famous series like star wars,
however there presence is still questionable but at some instance USSR was
suppressed by this kind of technology by virtue of which USA will attack on their
land far way form the space through laser weapons.

Today as scientific research is evolving we are ready to hear things like HAARP and
Shockwave technology by which world’s most sophisticated military can create
artificial earthquakes on the enemy land creating unimaginable strike that is able to
produce sire consequences. This is the result of more development that we are
hearing certain things that we can not imagine. Development in biological sciences
had lead the formation of biological weapons that are easy to use and without any
difficulty to smash the enemy, certain types of viruses that can possess the ability
to contaminate the enemy’s land and the battlefields have now been formed.

Conclusion

There can be a basic principle that can be easily fetched up from the above
discussion that development directly leads to invent some stuff that on one hand is
used to be safe while on the other hand accounts for the accomplishment of
particular interest. The need of the lethal weapon is complex, if viewed from the
lens of a philanthropist, the development of country does not need it to be lethally
armed but humanitarianism will be not be the sufficient ideology to sustain in this
complex world because it follows the simple rule of the chain that if you don’t hunt
you will be hunted. Military power is still the main source of acquiring the interest
and no nation in this international globe is able to fulfill all its requirements.
