Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) 2007-Present
Currently teach 5 different high school classes in reading, writing, and advanced English to prepare varied
levels of ELL (English Language Learner) students to successfully pass benchmark examinations for
graduation. Eighty-eight percent of (level 1) students moved up three grade levels in one school year.
Ninety-three percent of (level 2) students moved up two grade levels in one year. Active Certification:
English (4-12) and ELL (K-12).

Collaboration with other teachers and professionals to carry out instructional activities and
related activities to maximize learning. Recommend students courses for counselors to build
schedules. Refer unidentified students for possible learning-disability screening. Work with
dually identified special education and ELL students teachers to meet English language
instruction needs.
Plan, prepare and teach innovative lessons that align with state standards, best practices, and
students individualized needs per ages and personal goals, such as earning a diploma or gaining
language proficiency for college or vocational goals. Use strategies: SIOP (Sheltered Instruction),
direct instruction, cooperative learning, differentiation strategies, thematic units, interactive
technology, multi-media, note taking, and study skills to increase interest and build language.
Manage the behavior in the classroom by using a positive behavior intervention system to ensure
that the environment is conducive to the learning so it can maximize student achievement.
Communicate and maintain accountability by continually communicating with students and their
parents on instructional expectations to keep them informed of their progress through conferences
and other means.
Administer summative and formative assessments to determine students language levels,
educational levels, strengths and weaknesses, and progress made for individual and institutional
reporting and accountability.
Other Activities: Connect students and parents to community resources, such as mental health
services, libraries, drivers education, or job placement services. Plan and schedule relevant,
instructionally-sound field trips. Ensure all ELL files are maintained in compliance with Federal,
state, and county required documents.
