Super Switch (Takeover Module)

INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS
The2GIGTAKE345SuperSwitchis2GIGswirelesstakeovermodule.Thisunitwas
designedtoconvert8hardwiredzonesintoeightwirelesszones,makeinstallation
simple,andworkwithexisting12voltcontrolpanels.Themoduleistobemounted
nexttotheexistingControlPanelwherethehardwiredzonesareconnected.Allof
thezonesontheSuperSwitchactassupervisedwirelesszones.
IMPORTANT: Ifthecontrolpanelhasbeenremovedthena12voltpower
supplywithbatterybackupisrequired(notsupplied).

Monitoring the Battery


TheSuperSwitchwilloperateontheconnectedbatteryifthereisanAC
failure,unlessthebatteryisnotcapableofsupplyingenoughpower.
TheSuperSwitchmonitorsthebatterytoensureitisoperational.When
theSuperSwitchdetectsabatteryvoltagebelownormallevelfora
periodoftime,theSuperSwitchreportsalowbatteryforeachzone(if
programmedinstep11underProgramming).

Testing the Battery Voltage


IfyougetaLowBatteryIndicator,dothefollowing:
1 Testthebatterysvoltagewithavoltreadertoensurethat12voltsarepassing
throughtheswitch.
2 Ifthebatteryisfine,removepowerfromtheSuperSwitch(disconnectbattery
andAUXpowerterminal2).
3 RewiretheSuperSwitchbyconnectingthebatteryfirst.
4 AftertheSuperSwitchispoweredbythebattery,connectAUXpowerto
terminal2ontheSuperSwitch.
5 RemovepowerfromtheControlPanelandthenpoweruptheControlPanel.If
everythingisconnectedcorrectly,theLowBatteryindicatorshoulddisappear.
IMPORTANT: Ifthereisnoexistingsystem,thenuseyourownpowersupply
andgroupallofthegroundwirestogetherandconnectthemtothe
groundportontheSuperSwitch.

INSTALLING AND MOUNTING

ScrewthemountingbrackettoawallandattachtheSuperSwitch.Torelease
thebracket,pulluponthetabandslidethebracketdown.Mountthebracket
with2screws.MounttheSuperSwitchinRFrangeoftheControlPanel.

To Wire Super Switch with an Existing Power Source

1 RemoveACpowerfromexistingwiredpanel.
2 Removeleadsfrombatteryonexistingwiredpanel.
3 Withpowerremoved,wirethezonestotheSuperSwitch.Terminals310are
markedasZones18ontheSuperSwitchandarewherethezonesare
connected.Forexample,towirezone1ontheSuperSwitchtakethepositiveor
HIsideofthezoneofftheexistingpanelandplaceitinterminal3/Zone1on
theSuperSwitch.LeavethenegativesideortheLO(GND)sideofthezone
wiredtotheexistingControlPanel.
4 RepeatthisprocedureforallzonestobeconnectedtotheSuperSwitch.
TIP: AnoptionistoremoveallLOwiresfromexistingpanel,groupthem
together,andconnectthemtothegroundport.

Powering the Super Switch and Other Devices

TheSuperSwitchhastwowiresattachedRED(+)andBLACK().Connectthe
Redwiretotheredterminalandtheblackwiretotheblackterminalonthe
existingControlPanelsbattery.
2 ConnectthewiresfromtheexistingControlPanelforthebatteryintothe
spadeslugsontopofthewiresfromtheSuperSwitchthatisnowconnectedto
thebattery.
3 IFUSINGANEXISTINGPOWERSOURCE:WiretheexistingpanelsAUXpower
outtoterminal2/12VportontheSuperSwitch.IfyouareusingtheSuper
SwitchwithPIRs,GlassBreakDetectors,orotherdevicesthatneedpower,then
theymustreceivepowerfromtheAUXpowerontheexistingControlPanel.
ReconnectACpowertoexistingpanel.
NOTE: RemoveallotherdeviceswiredtoAUXpowerontheexistingControl
Panel(suchaskeypadsoranyotherunuseddevicesrequiringpower).
