Objectives: by the end of the lesson students will be able:
- to revise the parts of speech grammar;
- to enlarge their vocabulary;
- to practice the recognition of new vocabulary in context.

Instructor: Nadezhda Chubko

Goal: to improve academic English reading and writing skills.

Organizational moment:
I Greeting:
T: Hello everybody! How are you?
II Revision (20 min)
Aims: to revise the grammar about parts of speech; to prepare students for the next stages of the lesson
Parts of speech revision
Students work in pairs. In turns students tell their partner about the Parts of Speech in English. Every student can
speak for 5 min. Afterwards students work out the key rules about the parts of speech.
III Practice (15 min)

IV Vocabulary work
Aims: to interest students, to prepare students for the next stages of the lesson.
1. The list of new words is shown on the screen. Students need to say if they know any of these words. (5 min)
2. Try to label the words according to the parts of speech
3. Students read a text and try to understand the meaning of the new words from the context (15 min)
4. PPT with new words
5. Matching task
V Video (20 min)
Aims: to warm up, to interest students,
to give idea of the writing topic,
to prepare students for the next stages of the lesson.
Lead -in
- What do you think should a person adjust to environment or should environment adjust to a person?
Students write their answer (2 min)

- What is the speakers attitude toward the environment?
- How many devices did she demonstrate?
- What is the purpose of her devices?

IV Home assignment (3 min)
1) Learn the new words
2) Write an essay on the topic: Should a person adjust to the environment or should the environment be
adjusted to a person?
3) Your essay should contain the new words from Unit 5, p. 95
