The Great Commission

s a district leader and a licensed pastor of 15
churches, I always believe that a pastor is also an
evangelist. The great commission has 4
commands: go, teach, baptize and then teach again. This
is summarized in Matthew 24:14, And this gospel of the
kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness
unto all nations; and then shall the end come (emphasis
added).
Evangelism is such a broad topic in the Adventist
world. Methods, initiatives, and techniques have
developed over the years. Yet, few perceive that

evangelism is the great commission: go, teach, baptize,

and teach.
New Plans, New Methods
I used to think that preaching of the gospel is
mainly the public crusades. Yet when we considered the
great commission, we (with the elders council) see
something we have to do systematically and patiently.
We want all our members to be involved even we know
that the whole church will not all be revived though.
As always, we asked the aid of the Holy Spirit and
we implemented this district initiative by faith:

TEACH BAPTIZETEACH -

Each must approach a friend, relative, officemate, etc., for Bible study.
Trained volunteers, hired laymen, Bible workers, Bible instructors, and pastor shall teach the
recommended Bible students and shall bring them to the pastors crusade (harvest).
Recommend Class A Bible students for baptism ready for church membership.
The recommender shall be responsible for the newly baptized for nurturing while the local church shall
provide Pastoral Class for discipleship.

Gods Work Not Ours

he harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few:
pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he
would send forth labourers into his harvest (Luke
10:2). That God who has made the world for the benefit
of man, will provide means from the earth to sustain the
diligent worker (SpTEd 95.1).
The Lord will provide ways and means for those
who will seek Him with the whole heart. He desires us to
acknowledge the divine superintendence shown in
preparing fields of labor and in preparing the way for
these fields to be occupied successfully (Gospel Workers
65.2).

mountain. It is accessible by a rocky road crossing three

rivers. An SDA company continues to shine its light there.
After a month of hard effort through cold and wet
weather, 11 souls decided to accept the Savior.
A wife of an evangelical Christian decided to be
baptized first. Her family will follow next. A wife of a
Roman Catholic decided to be baptized first. Her family
would soon follow. The gospel softened hard hearts. And
many are still on the process of Bible study.
Three teenage youth obeyed the call of the
Savior and chose to be baptized despite the strict
disapproval of their parents. I wanted to be saved, and
now that Im baptized already, its time for me to reach
out my loved ones, quipped one youth after the
baptism.
