FIELD TRIPS and SEMINARS


1 laboratory unit

Course Description:
This course deals with a number of visits to industrial plants and a series of seminars on selected topics that are relevant to
chemical engineering. The seminars deal with current trends and issues related to the practice of chemical engineering. Visits
to industrial plants are conducted to broaden the students learning opportunities and to strengthen academe-industry
collaboration in the development of future chemical engineers.
Course Objectives:
After completing this course, the student must be able to:
(1) organize seminars and plant visits relevant to Chemical Engineering. (Outcomes f, g, h, I, j)
(2) discuss current trends and issues related to the practice of chemical engineering. (Outcomes f, g, h, j)
(3) discuss unit operations, unit processes, and other learning experiences from plant visits. (Outcomes f, g, h, I, j)
(4) exhibit a sense of responsibility in fulfilling assigned tasks particularly in organizing seminars and plant visits.

Course Outline of Activities


Part 1

Tour to Manufacturing/Processing Plants/Companies Relevant to the Chemical Engineering Field


Plants or companies may include (but are not limited to) the following:
1. Food Processing Plants
2. Food Ingredient Manufacturing and Packaging Plants
3. Paint Manufacturing
4. Brewery
5. Cement Manufacturing Plants
6. Beverage and Bottling Plants
